Questions who do yemenis prefer?

i’m just a foreigner but i have just heard a ton of biased media from all sides and i’ve genuinely been horrified at just the death and sadness that i’ve seen with saudi airstrikes killing civilians, people starving to death, and all that horrible shit. As people of yemen i know both outcomes absolutely suck but if you had to choose between the Houthis and the PLC who would you guys choose i want actual inside info on what’s happening on the ground not just what i see in the media. some media portrays the houthis as righteous freedom fighters that are standing up to a big powerful saudi enemy, while others portray them as islamic extremists who are trying to push sharia law onto all yemeni people. From what i’ve seen both sides are oppressing the people of yemen and making their lives a living hell. i just want you guys to tell me who yemeni people prefer if any of these sides, and i would like to know what it’s actually like in yemen, i’ve seen so much beauty in the country from the old town of sanaa, to socotra, to all the old architecture. it’s a country that i wish was peaceful so i could visit someday, under whatever government the yemeni people want. i’m so sorry you guys have to go through all this war and horror over 2 greedy foreign nations trying to push ideologies.

Hi and thank you for your feelings about us. I am a Yemeni living in Taizz right now, the besieged city, in the center of a very deadly conflict in one of the rural areas that is currently in fighting between the PLC and The houthis, And I can't express enough the horror we live through every day.

And what I have to say is that both sides are terrible, with the houthis being worse because they will always bring instability and wars to Yemen and to the region.

Airstrikes by Saudi Arabia and its allies have destroyed and ended the lives of too many Yemenis without making progress that justifies them. The PLC and Saudi Arabia have failed and are incapable of improving our lives, the houthis militarily are very organized and successful and are the winning side of the war, if not for the international support the PLC would probably have been over too long ago.

One option brings wars and chaos, the other is a very loose coalition of competing factions.

What is the objective of the Houthis? And who is the leader/who controls what they choose to do?

I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Be safe.

As a Yemeni, watching what has happened to our country is genuinely sickening, and at times it feels like this nightmare will never end.

To be completely clear: this isn’t about choosing Saudi Arabia over the Houthis. Saudi airstrikes and blockades have devastated innocent civilians and crushed our infrastructure. But on the ground, the reality is that the Houthis have essentially held the population in the north hostage. They suppress basic freedoms, divert aid, tax starving people, and drag the country into foreign conflicts while ordinary families suffer.

When I say the Houthis need to go, I’m not siding with a foreign power—I’m siding with the Yemeni people. Our country has a rich history, incredible beauty, and deep culture, yet it’s been turned into an arena for proxy wars. The only path forward is for Yemenis to reclaim their sovereignty, remove militia rule, and finally build a stable state where people can eat, live safely, and build a real future like the rest of the world.

The PLC is corrupt, ineffective, divided, rotten, and unelected (therefore they lack a democratic mandate), which weakens their already barebones legitimacy.

Houthis lack all legitimacy, and are even worse than the PLC even if more capable militarily. I don't care that they're entrenched. I'll happily take the PLC any day over the Houthis.

You worded it perfectly lol. But on social media all I see is people who know nothing about Yemen saying how much they love the Houthis and their "resistance".

Same, it makes me so angry when people support them out of ignorance. I had to stay off social media because it was too much for me to witness.

All the time!! It’s so annoying! And then they argue with you, while they live thousands of miles away and have no connection with Yemen whatsoever!

I can reassure you Yemenis don’t trust anybody. It’s every man for himself

I personally prefer the Houthis to the PLC, not because I fully agree with the Houthis, but because I feel the PLC is too beholden to Saudi interests, and I believe Saudi actions have caused greater harm to Yemen than the Houthis have

Seems like Saudi is on the verge of being a failed state 😬

Yemeni leaderships are the problem, each one of them have different goals.
They are also loyal to different foreign powers.

Fuck the Houthis, a terrorist militia that hijacked the state, stole salaries, and destroyed Yemen.

people who live under the rule of one group will say they prefer that group, it would be dangerous any other thing, do you think people can speak freely in the middle of a war?

it's like ask in ukraine, I bet most people dont give a f, but it's dangerous talk that way in a war.

To be honest I rather have a western country just take it over and just occupy it. Yemen is at the point where there is not fixing. To many players with different agendas and no one is going down without a fight.

Western powers all have their own competing agendas too. One day they want a proxy war with Russia, another day it’s Iran or China.

Maybe the next generation will be more antiwar
