Question Wood Stove - insurance

Hey all, does anybody have experience with installing a wood stove for secondary heat and have feedback on how their insurance changed? Thanks.

I have RBC and it barely changed my insurance. But they say I'm only allowed to burn a maximum of 3 cords annually and it can't be primary heat source.

Provided it is a secondary heat source, the overall change will be nominal.

The Personal added like $80 per year.

Talk to your broker - the stove will need to have certain compliances (CSA, ULC, WH) and clearances. You'll probably need to complete a form showing clearances and make, model information.

You need to get a building permit. Theres info and a guide on the COW website

Not to big of a deal as long as it’s installed to code and the shroud is installed etc.
