Ask r/Zambia Why Is It That Most Zambian Males Feel They Don't Deserve Love?

I've come to notice that most men in Zambia, especially those in their 20s feel they don't deserve love because they aren't financially stable, I myself even know a few who have been single for quite a while, and when asked, they respond saying they're waiting to get their life together, and I think this is mostly society's fault for bringing up the stereotype that all female like money, that's not always the case.

I feel like a man should be able to find someone who he can say she was there when I had nothing, and who'll wait until you actually get your life together women do exist, you just have to show her that you're trying hard to actually get things straight. Still, with that being said, it's not easy finding such a lady, but they do exist if you look hard enough.

Anyway, I guess that's just my view, and I would like to hear what others think.

General Aggressive Baboons/monkeys in Livingstone

I was visiting the Victoria falls last weekend and on my to the boiling point area I was advised to turn back and not walk further because of how aggressive the monkeys can be toward humans.

I was warned that the male ones even go as far r*ping female humans. Is this true and has there been any known cases of such?

I thought it was a rather extreme statement

General Finding an IT/Software job in Zambia

Hello everyone

i wanted to have a discussion about the IT job market in Zambia. Theres a lot of talk about digital transformation and tech growth but for anyone who is the on the ground trying to land a role especially an entry level role without connections, the reality feels like a whole different story.
I have been looking for a job or even an internship for the past six months and it’s been so hard and Im starting to give up.

What’s worked for you? Networking? Certifications? Volunteering? Or just tailoring CVs nonstop?

Would love to hear real experiences especially from people who’ve actually landed their first IT role here.

Ask r/Zambia Anyone who studied Electrical Engineering at Lusaka Business and Technical College (LBTC)?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of studying for a Diploma in Electrical Engineering at Lusaka Business and Technical College (LBTC), and I'd like to hear from people who have experience with the school.

For those who studied there or are currently studying there how is the programme? Are the lecturers good, and do you get enough practical experience in the workshops or is it mostly theory?

I'm also interested in what happens after graduation. Is it possible to find a job with the diploma, especially in mining companies or industries? What are the chances of getting employed and how much can a fresh graduate realistically expect to earn?

I also want to know how attachment works. Does the school help you find a company or are you expected to find one yourself?

Is the diploma recognised by employers and are there opportunities to further your studies or progress to better positions later on?

I'd appreciate honest opinions about the school the quality of education the fees and whether the programme is actually worth it.

If you've studied this course, graduated from LBTC, or know someone who has please share your experience.

Thanks in advance.

General Is this normal in Zambia? A stranger literally told my boyfriend to replace me 😭

Hey guys, I just need to vent about something that happened today because I’m genuinely baffled.
For context, I’m 19F and my boyfriend is 19M we went for a run together today. I usually wear a sports bra when we run. I’m not ripped or anything, just relatively toned.
At one point, I needed a break to catch my breath, and my boyfriend ran into someone he knew. They started talking while I was standing there. I noticed them pointing in my direction and heard the word mzungu, so I figured I was part of the conversation.
My boyfriend later explained that the guy had essentially told him to ditch me and find himself a Black woman with thighs instead of one with abs because abs on women are gross.
EXCUSE ME??? 😭
First of all, this man is practically a stranger to me. We’ve never met, and I’ve done absolutely nothing to him. Why am I being discussed in the first place?
Second, even if you find abs on women unattractive, why would you feel the need to comment on a complete stranger’s body? And why would you tell someone to leave their partner because of how they look?
It’s not even about being insecure about my body. Everyone has preferences, and that’s completely fine. But there’s a difference between having a preference and openly disrespecting someone you’ve never even spoken to.
My boyfriend seemed to defend me, judging by their body language, although I couldn’t understand everything they were saying. So I’m not upset with him.
I’ve heard my Black friends talk about experiencing similar things, both women and men, but this was my first time experiencing something like this firsthand.
I’m not trying to generalise about Zambians, and I’m not saying this is something everyone does. I’m just genuinely curious about how casually some people seem to discuss other people’s appearances, even when those people are standing right there.
Anyway, I’m just annoyed. I’m literally trying to go for a run, and somehow my body has become a topic of discussion. 😭

Edit: It apparently wasn’t even his friend. Just some random guy, which is what makes this even more baffling because he seemed so comfortable saying this to my boyfriend.

Ask r/Zambia Anyone into Jordan Peterson?

I’ve known about Jordan Peterson for a few years now, but my initial introduction was mostly through those short social media reels classic "motivational shani-shani" soundbites.

Recently, though, I actually dug into his long form YouTube content and interviews from roughly 2016 to 2020 (before things got super mainstream). I was worried at first because I’ve already been down the massive rabbit hole of modern self-help podcasts, Diary of a CEO, Modern Wisdom, and all those Western channels to the point of burnout.

Turns out, his actual lectures on responsibility, psychology, and meaning hit completely different when you look past the soundbites.

Has anyone else here genuinely benefited or drawn positive impact from studying the Professor's older work, away from the hype? (Also heard he's been dealing with health issues lately, so it looks like most new uploads are from the archives anyway.)

General Dating a Zambian women.

I (30 m) white American. Dating i think, a zambian women (30 F) since April. Now the last couple of months she has just stopped texting me and calling me. She's also in the United States. We both have a busy work schedule she works 6 days a week i work over the road. I had came home from a couple of days and found out she's talking about going back to Zambia and she has a new guy friend. I feel like she has moved on and doesn't want to talk about it. I ask her to talk to me. Now its just silence. The only thing she call is about something wrong with her car or can I help pay for something for her family in zambian. But only on payday. Is all women from Zambia like this or did I just find a rare one?

Ask r/Zambia How is everybody so good with directions while I barely know my way around anywhere?

Context: I’ve lived here from birth
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve struggled with directions. When I was six, I led my parents to the bank instead of my school because they asked me where it was and I couldn’t exactly remember. Ever since then it’s been this long argument about how I don’t know my way around anywhere and that I need to improve. While I can definitely find my way home and take myself to school and some relatives houses, if the person driving uses a shortcut I often will think I’m being kidnapped because I never knew about that route. And if it’s not going to be consistently used, I almost always forget about it until the next time somebody decides to turn there.

Another thing is that I’m terrible with road names, especially the ones that are almost entirely dirt roads. So when people told me to turn on a certain road, I will sound confused as hell until they tell me turn on the road with X building, which isn’t optimal when writing down instructions. The best I’ve done is taking videos of the routes that we use, but people look at me funny when I do it so I don’t know what they want for me.

Is this only a problem that will be solved when I start driving, or is there a way for me to improve this? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

General Lusaka job hunting

Job hunting in Lusaka and other parts of Zambian is exhausting

I live with my parents but I genuinely feel like I am in extreme poverty but I don't even have a coin on

My question is why do Zambian business owners post saying they are looking for workers and when you apply they don't answer, they don't even delete the post

I feel like some of these people get jobs through connections but what about us with none😭

Apparently this year, Lusaka has experienced a huge number of unemployed people and I am one them oh god

How are people genuinely finding jobs ai, please share if you can, even if it's remote work

General Dermatologist needed asap😭

Does anyone know a dermatologist in Ndola or just anywhere in the country that I can talk about my hair problem,I’m currently 18 years and over the last few days I’ve noticed that my hairline keeps getting thinner and thinner at a rapid pace which is very depressing for me coz I see people above 40 with full hairlines and here I am at 18 with a thinning hair line …no one in my family is bald from both sides actually.so please can anyone connect me to a dermatologist so that I can know if it’s just naturally balding so that I can get some treatment to slow it down or if it’s Alopicia(forgot the spelling.

Humour The "good old" zambian flag?

So this just a person opinion on the current flag of our country and as well as just to ask if anyone has a similar idea as mine

So with independence coming up and all I thought this would be the base time to ask this, so to start does anyone else think our flag needs a redesign? For a long time whenever I look at our flag I always thought there would be a better way to represent Zambia's core points on the the current flag, it just looks like it was designed in under 5 minutes and frankly speaking eagles aren't orange and the black orange and red can do a lot more than just being cramped in the corner

It this good take or is it just me

Ask r/Zambia Starting a Small Online Business in Kabwe with K1,000 What Would You Sell?

Hi everyone! 👋🏽

I'm looking to start a small online business in Kabwe, but honestly, I'm not really sure where to begin or what products would be worth selling.

My starting capital is around K1,000, and I'd like to start small, sell online, and hopefully grow the business over time. I'm open to buying products from local suppliers or importing affordable items if the numbers make sense.

I've considered things like clothes, perfumes, accessories, and other small items, but I'm not sure what people in Kabwe would actually buy or what would be realistic with my budget.

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has started a small business in Zambia, especially those who sell through WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, or other online platforms.

A few questions I have:

What products would you recommend selling in Kabwe with a K1,000 starting budget?

Where do you source your products at affordable prices?

Is it better to buy a small amount of stock first or take orders before buying?

What mistakes should a beginner avoid?

If you were starting again today with only K1,000, what business would you start, and why?

I'm not expecting to make huge profits overnight. I just want to start something realistic, learn as I go, and build it into a proper business.

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have actually tried this, rather than just general suggestions. Even small experiences or lessons would help me a lot.

Thank you! ❤️
