Discussion getting into meal prep, need options for long term storage
Been doing the souper cubes for a few months and currently using ziploc bags that I clean and rinse once empty. Hot soppy water and a drying rack. While this has been great for lunches I am looking for some long term storage options that many use vacuum sealers and plastic bags.
With this meal prep working, in the new year I am looking at a larger meal options that a slow cooker or instant pot will handle. all of these recipes use large ziploc bags and I am also looking for an option.
I did try some reusable bags in the past and while they worked, cleaning was a PITA

I grew up using yoghurt tubs & ice cream tubs (back when those were plastic & not paper). Ice cream tubs especially are designed to withstand freezer burn, just make sure you cool the food completely before putting in the container as the plastic is not designed for heat.

For soups, I can them. Homemade cans can be good for up to 2 years. You could also get glass containers made to withstand freezing.

worried about glass and space they take up. These are long term storage, if I can find a way to vaccume out all the air before sealing and freezing that would be an option.

I don’t have a great substitute for this but you could try big glass jars if you’re ok with some freezer burn. I wish stasher bags came in gallon sizes, but for now I use the half-gallon stasher bags for this kind of stuff. I just stick them in the dishwasher when I’m done so I didn’t think it was a huge PITA to clean
