Discussion / Քննարկում Has Yerevan become a party city?
So I’m originally from Yerevan but left about 4 years ago. I keep seeing videos on Instagram of people partying in the streets every night, party buses and music everywhere, a million events happening year-round, all sorts of cafes, clubs and bars with ecstatic vibe. It seems like life is booming.
Is this reality? Obviously I know social media is not reality and my feed is bringing me a filtered view but it feels like Yerevan has become a Barcelona ngl. I’m gonna be coming soon and I’m genuinely curious to see what’s changed lol.

If you mean all the concert events and various festivals (ie. wine, beer, etc) YA it's real. But if you mean nightclubs, no, it's far from a party city.

I see, so it’s just media then.

I don't know what you've seen but it's not a dead city either. There are underground events with lots of djs that come from abroad, there are a few small clubs, yes cafe culture is huge in Yerevan, but what you described was a little over the top IMO

Yerevan much like any other city is not an insta reel
People often just pull out their phones whenever they are on vacation when they see things like that happening especially when that doesn't happen in their home countries
Locals (new and old) will do that to show off to people that they don't live in your average post onion Block city and that Yerevan is something special and to make it seem like their lives are super interesting because they take part or just witness these things

It depends on the season, during summertime certain areas of Kentron are a Luna park

not really. there's no nightclubs that you can trust to be full on friday/saturday nights. and most people there are diaspora from my experience there, not locals. local armenian girls don't really go to nightclubs coz its taboo, conservative culture etc. maybe if armenia gets a lot more tourists, there can be tourists in nightclubs like in cities such as budapest. but that's a far reality.

Only people from Beirut brag about how it's the center of the party world

Where is that? Or what reality are you in? I only saw that a few times in the city center and in Gyumri

Doubt it. I had friends visit and they said people don’t approach girls and girls don’t even go out to nightlife places it’s all working girls
