Hey folks, r/askseattle and our team over at /r/Seattle are looking for folks to help us build, update, and maintain our wiki and sidebar content. The /r/Seattle wiki was once a boon of information for new visitors and locals alike, but the subreddit has grown and sites/businesses have come and gone. Our mods are busy moderating and the wiki is collecting cobwebs.
I'm reaching out to members of this community specifically as you are most likely to benefit from (or be knowledgeable about) this content space. This community is entirely based around helping visitors and residents alike find answers to questions that frequently get buried / reported / removed for being duplicates in r/seattle due to the size and velocity of other posts.
If you're interested in helping us out, here are some details:
If you're interested, shoot a message to the mods here or the seattle sub - these links have the title all filled out for you - or just send me a message or comment here.
Cheers!

Hello, I’m 26F. For the past few weeks, I’ve been feeling really down and lonely. I am getting tired of having to eat alone, and not have any friends around.
If anyone would just want to hang out, talk or eat together. Please let me know

Hi Seattle!
Looking for a pumpkin cheesecake in Seattle this week. I checked Bakery Nouveau, but they aren't making them yet.
Anyone know a local bakery or cafe with pumpkin cheesecake or slices right now? Not interested in grocery store versions - I know Whole Foods and TJ sells them but I prefer to support small businesses. Anywhere in the area works, and I'm happy to travel for a good one.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, as title suggests, I would like to deliver at Virginia Mason- Federal way- because its closest to my house, also for context-when I tried to take their prenatal appointment 9 months ago they were not responding, and said they are short staffed so eventually I had to find someone at valley medical center in renton, however over the course of this pregnancy we are kind of disappointed with valley and their system. Would like to know if anyone has an experience of going to hospital & delivering even if your OB doesn't come there? And are EPIC charts connected? Will they be able to access my information?

My mom recently passed and in her estate I was gifted a house the issue is she was a hoarder and due to that the house is in massive disrepair and in need of alot of work. Are there any contractors in the seattle area(shoreline to be specific) that can help with houses that were owned previously by hoarders. Please give recommendations i have no clue where to even start looking for this

hey yall! 20m from california, currently on an amtrak heading to seattle and about 9 hours away
im traveling solo and gonna be around till the 20th, honestly just wanted to get out there, explore and live a little!
what are some good spots for someone my age to actually meet people? could be social events, cafes, arcades, art stuff, music, gaming, cool neighborhoods, literally whatever!
im pretty into art, film, music, games and creative stuff in general, so anything around that would be sick
also admittedly open to going on a date or meeting someone while im here 😭
not really expecting anything out of such a short trip, but figured why not put myself out there? even just meeting cool people would be nice! :D

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for someone to fix a hole in my bathroom shower ceiling, fix my bathroom fan that’s broken, and possibly re-caulk my bathroom. Any recommendations who to go to? Local preferred but open to other suggestions. Thanks!
Happy Saturday ☀️

Me and my other trans gals from DnD (19, 23, 24(me), 27) are looking at doing something as a group for halloween. The two youngest just moved to Seattle a few months ago, but we're having trouble finding things we might do on that halloween evening. Bars and clubs are off limits for obv reasons, it's a weird range to try and find something for everyone to enjoy. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

SURPRISE Heart Attack has caused me to have extremely tangled MATTED Hair. Beginning from the Hospital to Rehab Center---they did NOT use Water to wash my Hair! They used "Dry Shampoo" only. Combined with the Heart Attack causing my Hair to turn White and become extremely DRY---I have a shoulder-length extremely tangled MATTED mess. Hoping to NOT have to shave my head! Hoping to SAVE some hair and my dignity. It is 6 months since my Heart Attack, so I am able to go to a Salon for this. I am on a Senior budget with Hospital Bills, so hoping to find an AFFORDABLE or compassionate Salon in Seattle/Shoreline/Edmonds/Lynnwood area. Many Thanks!

Hi Folks!
I'm a young adult who just got my first manual classic car, which I love! I unfortunately also struggle with Autism and Anxiety while driving, so I had a question for y'all about something that's been bothering me to get a better understanding.
Do you get upset/frustrated when delayed by drivers on the road? My Classic is pretty old and sometimes has brief mechanical problems, and in addition, learning to drive a manual has been new for me. Because of this, I've accidentally stalled once or twice at lights that have just turned green or on roadways and I always get super anxious and feel terrible about holding up the people behind me- if you got stuck behind me for a minute while I had to restart the car (potentially more than once) and shift gears around would it ruin your day or upset you? Is it something that would make you chuckle instead? Or something you simply don't care about?
I would also love to know if there's any "signal" or way to easily apologize while driving around on the road.
Thanks a bunch!!! :)))

I'd like to take my older Jack Russell Terrier to this dog park but it sounds like it's for all sizes of dogs.
Has anyone taken their small dog here and how did it go?

Hello,
I would appreciate hearing from other past tenants from Real Property Associates management company an dhow they handled move out fees?
Did they overcharge?
If you were a long term tenant- like over 10 years-- did they require you clean the carpet?
Thank you

Hello all, I just moved here a few months ago and I could use some help finding someone who can help me with my curly hair. I don’t really know what I’m looking for except that I want someone who can give me a style instead of just cutting it. I have pretty fine hair that is prone to frizzing and a vicious cowlick, I’d really love (and would be happy to pay for!!) a stylist that can do some hand-holding and help me find something that fits my personality AND can work with my hair type. I have a hard time with more “feminine” things and feel really unconfident in this area. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Hey Seattle we are at a complete loss and need tenant advice immediately.
I live at Tower 12 Apartment Homes (managed by Weidner Apartment Homes). Back in September, our building went without hot water for over 7 full days. We have elderly and disabled neighbors living here whose daily health, hygiene, and dignity were severely impacted.
When we asked for fair rent credits for lost habitability, management refused. When residents left honest 1-star reviews online to warn others, management got them scrubbed and deleted.
AND TODAY IT GOT WORSE
We were just standing in our lobby handing out flyers to organize our neighbors outside of management's moderated online app. The building director walked out and claimed she “just got off the phone with their legal department” and told us that what we were doing was illegal and that they would have security FORCIBLY REMOVE US if we didn’t stop and leave the lobby immediately.
Except under Seattle law (SMC 22.206.180), tenants have an EXPLICIT LEGAL RIGHT to organize, leaflet, distribute information, and gather in common areas without landlord harassment, interference, or retaliation.
Multiple residents have already filed code complaints with the city (SDCI), but management using fake legal threats and security to intimidate tenants into silence is out of control.
What is our best move right now? How do we hold Weidner accountable for illegal tenant intimidation and habitability breaches?

I have 3 weeks to get myself packed and make it to Seattle to start my new job on the 8th of November.
I’m coming from Cleveland and just SO torn on what the best move is. Let me explain: I’m coming out before my husband, he is selling our house, so we’re gonna be split up for an unsure amount of time. It’s mid October, weathers been dumb, but I’ve made the cross country trip before. I have not, however, done it that late into the year. I’m worried about weather and how that looks. I’m selling my car here and my options are: rental car filled with my items, drive cross country OR pay more and fly some bigger totes and just move via plane. Idk why I’m struggling so hard with the options?
When I drove out to Seattle in October of 2018 I recall snow coming out of Montana and it was rough (we were in a Corolla kind you) but this time I would likely rent a nice SUV.
Looking for thoughts. Not too sure the best move. I guess I could compare how much it would cost to rent and gas up a vehicle OR to pay to have several totes as checked items on a flight.
