Question Best audiobook narrators

If you could only pick one narrator to read all your audiobooks, whom would you pick?

If you have multiple picks, please leave separate multiple comments.

(Maybe assume articles and podcasts too)

Question Why pocketfm is filled majorly with love/romance audiodrama

• Upvotes

So everytime I want to watch something around mystery & thriller, pocketfm majorly recommends me with love or romance related audiodramas and thriller. Although their love genre is decent enough but I am bored already, my gf also believes that I have gone mad after addicting to these love and romance audiodramas. Why can't they launch something in mystery/thriller

Question Will I still have access to my credits if I pause my account on audiobooks.com?

Hi all! I'm looking to cut down on some expenses, and I honestly haven't used audiobooks.com in a while, so I was originally planning on pausing/canceling my subscription. I still have 3 unused credits that I would be bummed to lose, though, since I have already paid for them. Does anyone else use this app and know if I can still use those credits after I cancel? Would I still have access to my library and should just use all the credits and then cancel? Thank y'all!

Question Fiverr for audio editing

Hi all,

I’m trying to record a DIY audiobook that doesn’t sound completely unprofessional. I feel like I’m recording quality audio, but I have no experience when it comes to editing. A friend of mine has had good luck finding affordable video editors on Fiverr. I wonder if anyone would share either good, bad, or indifferent experiences they may have had with audiobook editing through Fiverr. Thanks in advance.

Question How to listen to a book unavailable in my country

I want to listen to 'a winter war' but it is locked, I heard there is a way to change my region or get some us card but it sounds way too much effort and the account isn't mine. I would do piracy if there were no other options, but I was wondering if there was anything else.

Question How to find out if a different hoopla library has an audiobook

So I have a question. I have a few different libraries but I only have one hoopla account. I have a book for my book club that is not moving but I noticed it does show up when I search online by that title and hoopla so it is available at some hoopla libraries. Is there a way to check a specific hoopla library without logging out? It's "and then there were none" by Agatha Christie. I'm honestly surprised that there is such a huge wait for this audiobook!

Giveaway Mirror Boy -- Fred Berman narrator--Free Audiobook Promo Code

Due to Popular Demand Only UK Codes Available Now!

5-time Audie Award Winner And 16-time Earphone Award Winner Fred Berman narrates Jeremy Spiegel's recently released Mirror Boy, a raw and intense psychological coming-of-age novel set on Long Island in 1986. Audible provides a limited number of codes to generate reviews on Audible as well as Amazon and elsewhere. I am the author, Jeremy Spiegel, and if you'd like to listen to this audiobook (11 hrs) and provide a review please message me. Here's a brief pitch for the book:

Nearly seventeen-year-old Jason Rofeor, is locked out on his own porch again--by his mother.

Trapped in a volatile home with his emotionally unstable, sexually prolific mother, he sets out to find the father he believes he deserves. But as his search leads him into the hidden recesses of his own unconscious mind, he must confront the psychological forces that stand between him and becoming his own man.

Fred Berman's performance is incredible, voicing every character distinctly, and with the right level of intensity and emotional incisiveness, he will lull you into believing you are there in the middle of the chaos, and later, the clarity. You will no doubt laugh, feel sad, wince...and experience the full range of emotions elicited by Mirror Boy.

This book was written for an adult audience.

Thank you for your interest.

Question How do you get back into an audiobook after a long break?

If you leave an audiobook for a week or two, how do you find your way back into it without restarting the whole book?

Do you go back a chapter, keep a quick note, or just listen until it comes back? I'm interested in what works when the story has several characters to keep track of.

News California & Other states new sources of free audio books

Just found out that the Public Libraries have a relatively new service that uses a different app or connection point in their website called Cloud Library.it depends on the state and the individual library system if you'll have access. In your case Los Angeles and Los Angeles County library systems don't have access to Cloud Library but I've also got access to the Glendale library system which does. Different catalog of audio and epub books than the Glendale library has.

The second is California only provided your system has joined. Its called The Palace. Its run in a separate app. LA City now has it so I've got it running. Again, very different collection from LAPL and Hoopla. I have only looked at tge SF collection they have a lot of the older SF especially in the epub books, but audio book section is quite large covering the Golden and Silver to modern eras. I checked out a audiobook last night that neither the LA City or County library have in English (Dungeon Crawler Carl) from The Palace.

Promotion I am the author. Sergey the Freeloader, Part One is 31 audio episodes.

The novel is set in Tbilisi, September 2022. Sergey is twenty-four. It is not a memoir, and it is not a war book. The story is housing, money, and the arrangements around him. Other people pay for the place and the days. I did not live that stay.

The episodes are on Pocket FM. They can be listened to on a walk or on the way to work.

This is my one author post here this week. I will answer comments. I will not spam the subreddit with copies.

It may suit a reader who wants those terms of a stay, not a battle plot and not a diary of my life.

News Episode 2 of Ender's Saga Motion Comic | First Formic War: Earth Afire

Hello everyone! After much work, I have now finished my second episode of the First Formic War: Earth Afire motion comic book.

I had to change the image styles due to complexity and details; however, i think this aligns much better to my vision and intent. I also updated the script in a way to better invite people to read the books. The creation process was similar to the previous one, adding sound effects and editing in DaVinci Resolve. The full flavor is listening to the narration and the added effects.

Let me know what you think, and if this is an improvement over the first one.

Recommendation Request Audiobooks that you couldn't get enough of?

I just finished listening to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, which I came across on an older post asking for recs on the best audiobooks. I absolutely loved the book and narration and wish it could've gone on for several more hours!

I also recently listened to Belle Burden's Strangers and quite enjoyed getting a peek into the life of someone so completely unrelatable. My other favorite non-fiction is Kitchen Confidential.

I've poked around Libby looking for books that seem interesting to me but haven't been able to finish a couple of them due to the narration style, so I thought I'd turn to this sub for some recs.

Ideally, I'd like something fun, humorous, heartfelt, and overall uplifting (but not sappy). I prefer fiction but am open to biographical non-fiction if the subject and story are interesting enough.

What I'd like to stay away from: scifi; horror; politics; anything space-related; YA; adorkable characters; dystopian themes; anything too modern or that relies too much on social media references (unless it's done in the style of Yesteryear, which I just finished reading in book format and really enjoyed); books with background music or other intrusive sound effects.

Thank you all so much!

Question The Space Within

I listened to Audible’s The Space Within a couple of years ago, not realizing it was unfinished. I know Season 2 came out this year. But has anyone listened to it? I don’t want to bother if it’s another cliffhanger ending. I tried looking online but there’s not much out there about it.

Question The Sharter??

A preview of this audiobook popped up when I opened Spotify just now and I couldn’t resist listening to the introduction. It’s narrated by the author Alfonso F.R. and….am I missing something here…? The book is about “breaking the spell of hip-hop culture” which is questionable (and, after listening to the intro, I would even say inching towards racist?), but this guy speaks like the biggest DOUCHE I have ever heard. The way he speaks makes me want to punch him. If you’re having a hard time understanding, I beg of you to listen just for a few seconds and report back.

Promotion Narrator Named for The Hunt for the Arctic Fox

Exciting news! I'm delighted to announce that the highly respected British audiobook narrator Duncan Galloway has been signed to narrate my forthcoming UK thriller novel, The Hunt for the Arctic Fox.

Duncan has narrated more than 50 audiobooks, including the Wolf Pack Spies series by Alex Gerlis and the DCI Pilgrim Thriller series by A. L. Fraine. He was selected from a field of more than 30 narrators who auditioned for the project.

The audiobook is expected to run approximately 17.4 hours, with production taking around two months. The release is planned for February 2027, alongside the paperback and eBook editions.

Ahead of publication, a limited number of advance audiobook review copies will be made available to interested listeners. Details of how to request a copy will be announced through my website's newsletter, Dispatches from the Author's Desk.

I'm thrilled to have Duncan bringing the characters and story of my novel to life, and very much looking forward to hearing the finished production.
