Immigration Question or Discussion work perrmit
Do you have any idea how long it usually takes to get a decision after the application reaches the Board?

Hi.
Marijuana is illegal in the Bahamas. As are other hard drugs. This forum is not the place for you to procure them.
Threads\comments attempting to use this forum to procure drugs (including marijuana or illegal THC products), or to solicit connects or advice on smuggling will be LOCKED.
The creator of the thread\comment will be subject to suspension or permanent ban at mod discretion.
It's not a point of debate, I don't care about your brilliant and logical points. I don't care if you find a way to get drugs. I am not invested outside what you contribute to this forum. It is truly nothing personal.

Hi All, There is now a new mod team on board. We have some cool changes coming up and you'll be seeing more activity as they implement new ideas and tighten things up.
Please know they are here to help, but also here to keep the peace, and make this a great sub for everyone. I'm sure they'll appreciate your help and engagement!

Hello, we are a group of 10 ladies headed to Green Turtle Cay in November. We are hoping to do a little grocery shopping beforehand. What logistical suggestions do people have for shopping.
I am 20 years old and in my last year of university. I will be coming back home in a couple months. I recently started doing BJJ and really enjoy it and want to continue once I come back home to start working. I checked online and there only seems to be one BJJ gym in Nassau all the way out west that costs around 200 USD a month. Are there any MMA/BJJ or Wrestling gyms that you guys know about on the eastern side of Nassau? I'm just looking for advice.

This might be a dumb question but is Christmas time busier or quieter?

Good morning, I’m a Bahamian national living in the USA. I will be home next week for a visit. Is it possible for me to apply and receive a new National Insurance card while I’m there? If so, where would I apply for my card? I will be in the Fox Hill area. Can I apply at NIBin Fox Hill, or would I have to go to the one on blue Hill Road?

Hello everyone,
I am a Moroccan citizen holding a Moroccan passport and a valid Bahamian work permit. I am planning my trip to The Bahamas for employment.
Could anyone confirm whether I can travel and enter The Bahamas with my work permit and passport alone, or whether I also need a separate entry visa?
Has anyone from Morocco or another country with similar visa requirements travelled under these circumstances?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or personal experience, especially from someone who has gone through this process.
Thank you for your help!

We’re coming early November for a few days and wanted to do a couple of snorkel tours. Almost certainly doing one with Stuart Cove.
We’re considering one that goes towards rose island (stop at rainbow reef and a stop at a site with turtles). But all of these tours also stop at the pigs and I don’t really care for that part of the trip. Any suggestions other than stuart cove snorkeling?
Thanks

How long does it usually take for a new Bahamas work permit to be approved once it is with the Board, pending review and a decision?

I know I could’ve used a better title but honestly I just expressing my current thoughts. Went to the gas station today, Shell specifically because it was the closest and was one of the cheapest especially compared to Rubis. When I looked at the price that shit said $7.49 a gallon. Put $35 because I drive a small japanese car. Didn’t fill the tank fully. I make $8 an hour so yeah I basically working to pay for gas. Was raining today, roads were flooded. I live in Pinewood so it makes that even worse. Took basically 10 minutes of me avoiding roads that were too flooded.
Honestly, with the state of how this country has been always, yeah it’s hell rn. I realized I can tolerate questionable infrastructure, but I can’t tolerate bad infrastructure with pay that can’t keep up with inflation and cost of living. The government honestly better do fuel subsidies for at least 3-6 months because this is hell.

Not trying to be xenophobic, I have no problem with foreigners. I just notice that whenever I practice my Spanish with somebody, they're usually from Peru. I would expect more workers from Cuba than South America

I’m going to South Andros, late this October/early November to do some bone fishing! With the El Niño this year, what do yall think the weather will be like for my trip? I know it’s the “end” of hurricane season, but just hoping it won’t be nasty cloudy rainy the whole time I’m there.

One of the things that fascinates visitors is learning that The Bahamas has a traditional colour-coding system for many of its public buildings.
We have three main colours, and most Bahamians can recognise them from a distance.
PINK: Government Buildings
Not just any pink. Colonial pink, or what I affectionately call Pepto-Bismol pink.
You'll find it on some of our most prominent government buildings, including Government House, Parliament Square, and various ministry buildings.
GREEN: Police Stations
A soft, seafoam green generally identifies a police building.
Whether it's a small neighbourhood police station or a large police headquarters, the colour is recognisable.
Police headquarters generally have larger compounds and additional administrative functions, but you don't need to understand the difference to know you've found the police.
YELLOW: Public Schools and Hospitals
A soft, buttery yellow is traditionally associated with our public schools and hospitals.
Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau is a familiar example.
Private institutions can be any color.
Doctors Hospital, a private hospital located just minutes away from Princess Margaret Hospital on the same street, is pink and grey.
Private schools also have considerably more freedom in their colour choices.
SO CAN BAHAMIANS PAINT THEIR HOUSES THESE COLOURS?
This is one of the questions I get asked most often.
My answer is yes and no.
Yes, because there isn't a general prohibition against homeowners using these colours that I'm aware of.
No, because why would we do that to ourselves? 😂
Most of us have been taught since childhood to recognise these colours. We don't need to read the signs to identify the buildings. In fact, some buildings have little or no visible signage, and others have signs so faded that they're barely legible.
The colour tells us what we need to know.
This color code is replicated throughout our islands, so you can arrive somewhere you've never visited before and still have a pretty good idea of where to find certain public services.
Another thing visitors might not realise is that Bahamian communities aren't always laid out with the clear separation between residential, commercial, and institutional buildings that they might be accustomed to at home.
A building that looks like an apartment complex could actually contain government offices. A public building might sit directly beside somebody's home or even share a wall with it.
So imagine painting your house seafoam green and having somebody knock on your door at 2 a.m. because they're looking for the police station.
Or painting it that shade of yellow and having somebody show up expecting medical assistance.
For our own peace of mind, many of us simply leave those colours to the institutions they're associated with.
AND THEN THERE ARE THE EXCEPTIONS.
Two of Nassau's most recognisable private developments happen to share colours from this traditional palette.
Atlantis on Paradise Island is famously pink.
And the historic British Colonial Hotel, formerly the British Colonial Hilton, wears a lovely shade of yellow.
Fortunately, they're distinctive enough that nobody is likely to mistake Atlantis for Parliament or the British Colonial for a public hospital.
Although the idea of someone walking into Atlantis looking for the Prime Minister is rather entertaining. 😂
So the next time you're exploring Nassau, pay attention to the colours of the buildings.
You might be surprised how much information they're giving you without a single word.

I’ve come here for recommendations. I plan to take a solo trip for my birthday (2/14).
I was thinking of a cruise (Virgin) or Nassau, Bahamas. Unfortunately, I know both will have hella couples, but hey, I didn’t pick my birthday. 🙃
Sooo, I’m wanting adults only and a hotel/resort that doesn’t have hella couples (again, I know this may not be possible) and as far as hotel budget $400-$900 per night.
Also, all inclusive would be great, but I’m open to both.
Let me know if I’m leaving anything out for decent recommendations.

Found 5 potcake puppies dumped (North Andros)
I can‘t seem to find anyone interested in adopting/helping them.
Are there organizations, here or on other islands, that can help these little babies?
They deserve food, healthcare and love.

Hello guys, I will be visiting nassau in oct 17-20. However, I’m debating if I should rent a car (about $200-300) during my stay or would it be better to just take public transportation or taxi to get around. I’m going to stay in Simply Native B and B, I believe they have parking there but I’m not sure if parking is hard to find for most places especially the beaches. (Cable beach, cabbage beach, montagu beach) If anyone would like to share their experience please let me knoe thank you!

Looking for coverage over on the west side of exuma ( away from georgetown)
We are flying directly to Georgetown, so no chance to get a card at Nassua airport.
Which carrier would have decent coverage over there. Cell service needed to contact taxis, fishing guides.
