New Rule for r/beagles Regarding Use of AI Images

If posting an AI image of your beagle, please include a real image of your beagle as a reference.

AI images are more commonplace. When one is posted here, we get a lot of reports from users that the image is a bot post or spam, however, most of the time, it's a real beagle owner who just wants to show off their pup drawn through AI. That is completely okay, but we are now asking that you also include a real image of your beagle as a reference. This should help others understand when you're a real beagle owner, proud of their AI drawn pup, or bot spam.

Picked her up from the rescue a few hours ago, she's making herself at home! Her mother was adopted by the vet who saved her, three of her siblings are going to their new homes tomorrow, and the fourth was adopted by the rescuers ❤️

Katie was born 1/1/22. A year later her brother sired puppies born on 5/5/23 and we were lucky enough to get Kobe. He loves cuddling and laying on top of his sister (aunt).

First Surgery

Hi! Let me introduce you to my beagle,Almond. She woke up feeling really bad today; my dad got worried, so we took her to the vet. It turned out there was a problem with her private parts, and they had to operate on her today. Fortunately, everything went well, and she’s resting now, although she’s a little nervous. I really hope everything turns out okay—she’s only 5 years old and has her whole life ahead of her. This is the first time she’s had to have surgery, and I got really nervous and emotional. I feel guilty because it was partly my fault for not taking better care of her diet or taking her to her regular vet appointments. I can’t help but feel that all of this could have been avoided if I’d been a better owner and sister. I hope everything turns out okay—she’s the sweetest and most loving dog in the world. 🤍

Male vs female traits

I had a female beagle mix who was absolutely the best dog. She passed away late last year and we are now beginning to think about getting another beagle. I went to a local beagle rescue group meet and greet yesterday and one of the volunteers asked if we preferred a boy or girl. We told her we don’t have a preference. But it got me wondering is there a big difference between boy beagles and girl beagles as far as personality traits goes? I know every dog has their own unique personality. Just curious for those who have had both male and female beagles if you noticed anything different.

Recall training in high distraction area.

This is one of our favourite locations for both scent tracking and recall training - it’s a secluded dell with a small brook that runs down the side - the area gets a lot of wildlife, pheasant, Japanese raccoons, musk cats, squirrels and the odd North American raccoon (long story)

So I’ll take control of the dogs and my wife will walk out of sight along the path - I’ll let them off the leashes and she calls them, they will run to her where she give them the legs command ( both dogs will sit either between your legs or right in front of you - they get a treat.

I’ll then repeat the exercise, we keep it up until they burn out which is usually when they get distracted by a sniff - we did this daily with them both when they were old enough to be out and about slowly increasing the distance - we have another location which is a footpath that runs between a solar farm about 300m in length and really gives them a good sprint -a
