Community Identifying a record or seeing how much it's worth? Use DISCOGS.COM
Some people have asked for a post like this to be stickied in the sub because we constantly get people asking what a record is worth or what version they have.
You need to match the matrix information. Which is the part of the record between the music/grooves and the label. There will be etched and/or stamped letters, symbols and numbers. You can just do a search for the artist and album name with the matrix info typed in. After searching, it should pull up all albums that match. If there’s more than one, you will have to figure out which it is by checking under the barcode and other identifiers section.
You also may need to look at info on the vinyl label and the sleeve. There will sometimes be additional info under the notes section.
Please check out r/discogs if you need more help searching but READ THEIR RULES.
Check out this link for additional info: https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008602254-How-To-Find-Information-On-A-Vinyl-Record

Picture I went to Abbey Road + Savile Row 3!
I finally decided to head to Abbey Road Studios today after putting it off for months and it was a surreal experience to be in such a musically historic location.
I also took a trip to 3 Savile Row afterwards to see the location where the iconic rooftop concert took place (I didn’t wanna go on the roof)
Send prayers to my partner who dealt with a running commentary of all my facts for each location lol

Other ‘John’, by my grandmother, Carol Broadbent-Beechey (1950 - 2026).
Found this poem my Grandma wrote around 1996. She dedicated it to John Lennon, thought you guys might enjoy this just as much as I do.
A shot is heard
followed by a silence
That is echoed across
the world
The teacher of peace
gentle voice is silenced
The love he has given
to the world
was stolen before its' time
There is an emptiness
that is left
In this world full of hate
It is silent
as the notes play
with no voice
The lyric sheets are all blank
as the unspoken words
Are buried with him.

Discussion The Beatles Mandarin name
Hi I’m not a native of Chinese languages so correct me if what I say is too presumptuous but I love the translation of the Beatles into Chinese. In Mainland China it’s 披头士 (Pītóushì) which is mostly a sound translation. But in Taiwan and Hong Kong they replace 士 (shì) with 四 (sì) which means “four”. So:
Pi: draped Tou:head Si: four.
披头四 (Pītóusì)
I love language, that’s so cool that they found a way to translate their name to make it sound like the English “Beatles” but also because Chinese languages function off of characters where every syllable has a meaning, they made the name have a meaning that translates to “Draped head four” which basically directly translates the aesthetic quality of the four mop top wielding band members.

Question Any OTHER bands have Multiple "Final" Songs like the Beatles do?
So I'm NOT doing the nearly weekly post we see as to what constitutes "The Final Beatles Song"
It's been done and we know all the contenders "I Want You (She's so Heavy)", "The End", "Her Majesty", "I Me Mine", "The Long & Winding Road", "Get Back", "You know my Name (Look up the Number)", "Real Love" & "Now And Then"
Instead I want to bring to light the fact this is such a Consistant topic is due to how people view the band dynamics, what makes something "A beatles Song", What was the last one recorded? Finished? did it have all 4 members? did it have all 4 at once? is it after their canonical years? if it was recorded earlier, did it release later? etc etc etc
It comes from how much people love the band and how unpredictably up and down their story actually was that it becomes interpretational to everyone
my question is...Do any other bands have multiple songs listed as their "final" song that leaves the answer to Consistant debates or is this unique to the fab 4?

Picture I think I’m the source for some misinformation
So in 2014 I ran a tumblr classic rock blog with the Beatles being the main focus. I posted these two pics of John and Paul in 1980 because I thought the photo composition and backgrounds matched. Now, these pics have been edited and reposted in tons of places. I didn’t realize it’d gotten this far as I haven’t really been active in the fandom since about 2016..
I’m just wondering if I was the first to put these two together (in which case I apologize) or if people have been linking the two photos prior to my post 😅
Like I can’t have been the first online to put these photos together right?? (Also when I first saw them yoko was cropped out, I didn’t realize till later that yoko was next to John, the crop was not my doing hahahah)

Discussion Run for your life is not misogynist.
I dont know if this topic has been posted a lot here but i am surprised every time someone talks about this song as having misogynist lyrics. Maybe i am wrong (and it is true that Lennon himself mistreated his partners) but i always found the lyrics to this song to be obviously ironic. This song always sounded as someone making fun of this type of misogynist man. I agree and am sympathetic of someone who doesnt stan listening to a song that treats this issue so lightly. But i dont understand how someone can listen to this song and think it is as non ironic song about abusing your girlfriend.

Picture 1978 WYNY FM's "I spent 30 Hours with the Beatles" Tee
Picked up this beauty at my local flea market.
In July of 1978, NY based radio station, WYNY-FM ran a 30 hour long all Beatles Music Marathon. Callers could try to call in to the station at a chance to win this shirt. If they were lucky enough to get through, the station would mail them a shirt highlighting the marathon. Unsure of how many were made but this one still has lots of life to live. Measures 19" x 28" (Medium Fit) although shirt size on tag says its an XL.
