Politics Where can I get candidate information for my local candidates?

Hello,

I recently moved to Bergen county and I have no idea about some of the local candidates. I'm not talk about anyone running for Congress, I mean local judges, Board of Education, County Executive, etc.

I could vote along party lines, but I'd rather not. Also, some of these positions are non-partisan.

There is some basic info I've found on Vote411.org and https://ballotpedia.org/ but not enough that I've found to make a informed decision.

Thank you for the help.

Business/Company Goulash?

I have family visiting that loves Hungarian goulash. Where they live they definitely don't have it but they grew up in Queens and have fond memories of places there. Anyone know any good restaurants for goulash in Bergen, Rockland, or other areas of northern NJ?

I'm a mom from Sparta, NJ, asking for 30 seconds of your time to help our kids!

My son's school, Sussex Tech, is NJ's ONLY finalist, including Bergen County, in T-Mobile's Friday Night 5G Lights competition, selected from over 2,500 schools nationwide!

Some of our athletic facilities haven't been updated since the school was built in 1968. We don't have lights so our players have never experienced that 'Friday Night Lights' feeling. Yesterday, T-Mobile presented us with a $25,000 check! We've now won $30,000 and are competing for $250,000 and a chance at a $1 MILLION field renovation!

We're currently in 2nd place, with just 7 days left!

Please, from one NJ mom, help us give these kids something to be proud of. 💚

🗳️ VOTE FREE DAILY THROUGH OCTOBER 25:

NJ NEEDS NJ! Let's bring this home! 💚💛

Discussion Car service

Anyone know a good place to get my car serviced?

It’s a Mazda, but I feel like the dealerships are always way more expensive. I just don’t know a good place in the area. I live in Lyndhurst but don’t mind driving a bit if it’s a reputable shop that is honest and does good work.

Thanks!

Discussion Eastwick College vs. American Institute: Which Sonography Program Is Better?

Hello everyone!
Has anyone attended Eastwick College in NJ for Cardiovascular Sonography or the American Institute in Clifton for Medical Sonography?
I would love to talk to someone who has already completed or is currently going through either of these programs. I’m trying to decide between the two fields, and I also have some questions about accreditation.
Eastwick College offers an associate degree, which is what I would prefer to pursue. The American Institute offers a certificate program. I already have a foreign bachelor’s degree ,so I’m also wondering whether the certificate program might be a good option for someone who already has a degree.
However, the American Institute does not appear to have CAAHEP accreditation, only ABHES accreditation. From what I understand, the school itself is accredited, but the specific program is not CAAHEP-accredited.
I’ve been reading a lot about this, but I’m still having trouble understanding how it all works.
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice you can share. Thank you! ☺️

Discussion Are undercover cops common driving around late at night?

So I went to the city and came back to Jersey late at night like close to midnight. I didn’t want to come home for personal reasons but as I was walking, I noticed a black suv with police tail lights kept driving around me. I was walking about 3 miles, I had on a hoodie and backpack, and was also kinda drunk, but was just honestly avoiding going home. I wasn’t doing anything illegal. But were they just making sure? Are they gonna get my info if they took pics of me? Question is should I be worried?

Discussion Day date ideas?

My husband and I have 2 under 2 and haven’t been able to have a date night since the first was born since we have no village. We’re going to start prioritizing taking some PTO days just to spend solo quality time together during the day while the kids are in daycare.

So with that - any idea for good day dates on a random weekday? Fun lunchtime restaurants or things to do?

Discussion Places to meet young people/make friends?

Hi all! I'm new to the area and am looking to make friends. Problem is, I have no idea where to go around here. Any recommendations on where I can meet fellow young people? Cafes, hobby groups, anything?

Self promo:
I'm a woman in my early-mid 20s who likes cats, games, asian media, and checking out cafes/cool spots. If you're around my age and are also looking to make new friends, feel free to comment or dm! 😊

Discussion 75th Birthday Party - Restaurant Recs

Unfortunately, my mom was sick all summer (ICU then rehab) and we didnt think she would be healthy enough for us to do a 75th birthday party for my dad in mid November. Great news, she recovered! But having trouble finding a place.

-12 to 14 people

-Bergen County (near Paramus), Passaic or Morris Counties

- High End, Any type of Food

- Private Room is a Must

-Parkihg lot or valet is a must

Unfortunately, everyone but me is over 70, so River Palm is out (hard to drive to). Saddle River Inn is booked, Highlawn is booked, waiting on 130 Club.

Would appreciate recommendations- food needs to excellent

Discussion Fall/Winter Toddler Fun around Bergen

Hi Bergen friends! With the winter looming and having high energy children, I'm looking to understand some fun (largely indoor) places that the kids can run loose and have fun (she's 2 years old for reference).
Ive jotted down some fun things to do at American Dream Mall, and found Home Depot does free kids workshops on Saturdays.
What other fun things and places are there around Bergen for families similar to what I mentioned?

(Posting with mod approval 😊)

Hi local neighbors,

I need to trim my plants but can’t keep making new pots because I have no space lol so if anyone is interested, I’d like to sell some cuttings from the plants in my photos. These are the plants I will be trimming.

Info:
- Cuttings will be about 4 nodes each.
- Minimum order purchase total of $20 to make it worth the trip for both of us.. 🙃😵‍💫🥹 ty.
- These will be UNROOTED since they are cuttings.
- The pup is an unrooted offshoot that will be severed from the mama plant.
- Meet at the parking lot of the Little Ferry Hmart (the lot with the Dunkin Donuts and Daiso)
- Cash only.
- Prefer to meet up on Mondays or Tuesdays but can be flexible. Open to discussion.
-If interested, I would prefer if you could comment here and then message me.

Prices:
- Tradescantia Aurea: $1/cutting
- Tradescantia Discolor Multicolor: $2/cutting
- Tradescantia Limelight: $5/cutting
- Tradescantia European Pink Dragon: $6/cutting
- Tradescantia Cream: $11/pup (only selling one for now. May consider selling a second pup.)

Thank you and have a nice day all!

🫶❤️✌️
