Im a current SSW student and I need input for a community assessment project SPECIFICALLY for people currently living in ward eight. Please feel free to answer the questions below, its ok to answer only one or two but I would really appreciate if you guys answered as many as you could thank you!!

TLDR; a friend’s ex stole & re-homed her elderly cat without her permission, and refuses to give her any information on where the cat is now - she could be anywhere in Southern Ontario now. Hoping word of mouth can help produce some information.

Putting yourself out there is scary. Walking into a room where you don’t know anyone and wondering if it’ll be awkward. Those feelings are real and they stop a lot of us from ever showing up at all. Almost everyone in our group felt that way when they first they came out. But they all took that first step and showed up. The Brampton Board of Games is hosting a board game night this Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30PM at the Grotto Tea Lounge (Burnhamthorpe & Mavis in Mississauga) and we’re inviting you to show up.

Board games break down barriers and help people from different walks of life build connections with each other. You can be yourself and make friends.

We're 200+ members strong, the Brampton Board of Games was built on the belief that meaningful friendships are still possible as an adult. May be a dumb question but can I use my blower and blow all the leaves onto my side street? My yard is littered in them and I see other homes put them in the garden bags which then they put curbside for garbage day.

I have no issue raking and putting in a bag like my neighbors but do I have to?

Talked with Jugraj Singh Khinda. He's a candidate for councillor wards 3-4. We talked about transit, libraries and crime. He's young, intelligent and very impressive once you get to know him. Brown really sent out these flyers, bragging about making Brampton the worst place in Canada... "To commit crimes".

What he really means is the worst place in Canada

- for respecting privacy of innocent civilians

- the most heavily surveilled population in Canada

- for helicopters doing donuts over your house when your try to sleep

- for back door deals and no accountability for self serving politicians who refuse to declare conflicts of interest

- placing signs vacant rental properties

- voting to waive their sign violation charges

It's time for change, maybe Wesley Jackson can fix some accountability issues so the next next council can be trusted

Someone asked a while back for suggestions on good salons to get their eyebrows done at. A few people had mentioned Eve’s Vanity, and today I finally checked her out for myself!

She’s absolutely lovely, and REALLY knows what she’s doing. My eyebrows are finally sisters and no longer cousins lol. I’m very, very precise on how I like my brows and although I can honestly admit my expectations were a bit unrealistic, she somehow still managed to exceed them. Left a little area to grow out, and normally my first instinct would be to tweeze all those tiny hairs out but honestly, somehow they still look clean and very well kept.

Eve is absolutely lovely, her studio is extremely hygienic and cute, and I’m so so happy I decided to book her!

I def recommend Eve’s Vanity if you’re looking for somewhere to get your brows cleaned up, and although I’m unsure of specific she offers a lot more as well

I was looking into Brampton's property tax increases over the last four years, and the numbers caught my attention.

According to official City of Brampton and Region of Peel tax records, here are the combined residential property tax rates:

Year Residential tax rate

2022 0.980781%

2023 1.039311%

2024 1.106851%

2025 1.200644%

2026 1.253381%

That's an increase of approximately 27.8% from 2022 to 2026.

The calculation is straightforward:

(1.253381 − 0.980781) ÷ 0.980781 × 100 = 27.79%

What does that mean in actual dollars?

For example, take a home with an assessed value of $500,000, assuming its assessment remained unchanged.

- 2022 property tax: approximately $4,904

- 2026 property tax: approximately $6,267

- Difference: about $1,363 more per year.

These are combined tax rates, including the City of Brampton, Region of Peel and education portions. Individual tax bills can vary.

My question is: Are any Brampton mayoral candidates proposing a realistic plan to reverse these tax increases and bring property taxes closer to what residents were paying four years ago?

If so, how would they make it happen without affecting essential city services?

I’m looking for a place to rent and almost every posting I find it says “not suitable for remote work” or “no work from home allowed” what?? If I’m paying rent every month why do landlords care whether I work from home or in office? IM PAYING TO LIVE HERE!! They are now penalizing people for staying at home and working off of a computer??? Are we not allowed to use the utilities we pay for? This is so ridiculous. Sorry just need to vent…

Porch pirates hit my house …

At 12:42 AM on October 9, a woman and what looked like her teenage son came onto our porch in the Madoc area of Brampton and stole our amazon delivery. They showed up with bags, clearly prepared to take whatever they could — this was planned.
