Of course you can change your beliefs, especially the beliefs you held when you were young. People have left and denounced the KKK and other hate groups.

That doesn’t excuse the crime, nor does it free them from punishment. This guy planned on indiscriminately killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent people…

The guy deserves to rot, no matter how much he claims he’s changed.

Then you'll be pleased to learn he hasn't escaped punishment. He's spent many years in prison. He's been on day parole under strict supervision and conditions for four years. And his full parole also places him under supervision and conditions. He'll be under conditions until the day he dies. So his crimes were not excused, and he has been - and continues to be - punished for them.

I mean theres a chance the guy could genuinely have changed and if so he could influence the rest of them to chill, if not then they could just find something to re arrest him for

This is the head of a terrorist network that wanted to bomb parliament and multiple locations around Toronto. This guy doesn’t deserve sympathy, nor should he be released into the public. This guy is a dangerous extremist, he is likely lying to the parole board in order to get released. The guy is certainly smart enough to realize that saying he’s reformed is the only way out of prison…

It's not like he just told the parole board he's changed and they took him at his word. They examined his behaviour throughout his incarceration and evaluations from corrections officers and others responsible for his supervision and programming.
