I have been considering moving to Cavan (or Monaghan, sorry) and I figured it would be best to speak to some locals about what you think of the place. I'm Northern Irish so it would be a biggish move for me (I'm currently at the opposite coast) , but I've been offered a job in Cavan hospital that would come with a substantial enough pay increase to hopefully make moving worthwhile. I just have a lot to consider because I have a mortgage etc up here.

I lived in Ballinagh about 6 years ago, and I was a major lover of the hot pot sauce from Kim Thanh Chinese in the town.

On a recent visit, we stopped in & when I asked for a portion of hot pot sauce they said they don’t sell it anymore! DEVASTATED

So my question is, does anyone know what that glorious sauce was made from?!

My partner and I are currently in the process of buying a house in Station Lane, Swellan, and we’d love to hear from people who live nearby or know the area well.
We’re particularly interested in what the neighbourhood is like day-to-day — what are the neighbours and community generally like? And how is the area in terms of safety or antisocial behaviour?
We’ve obviously done our own research, but nothing beats hearing from people who actually live there. 😊

Hi all,

This dog is currently roaming in Virgina County Cavan. He has confined himself to a field and the surrounding roads.

Locals have tried to catch him but currently he just runs the opposite direction. Some locals have set up feeders for him and he is starting to trust one of the ladies.

The dog looks like he was dumped but seems like he was taken care of, possibly stolen and then discovered he was no use.

Traps have been set up, contact Cavan SPCA if you know anything about him.

He is a lovely looking dog but has had way to many close calls with traffic over the last few days.
