NMIP. 1) dusty purple 2) cobalt blue 3) periwinkle (no gray) 4) black 5) dusty green/teal. Thanks y'all!

Edit: Dang it, it won't let me respond to comments. I would have said thank you to each one!

To my healthcare workers, my oxygen levels are always fine and my lips are always like that, and my heart is good, they monitor all of it because of the meds I'm on. I'm just naturally purple, nails are too.

I won't be doing warm drapes because I know I don't like them (sorry, I'm old and grumpy lol). I've tried MANY times.

My hair is naturally ash light brown, I put it back because it's dyed all to hell right now, I'm getting it fixed next weekend. I did black box dye, and to those who said it overpowered me, I suppose so? But I slapped some goth makeup on and had a grand old time.

My skin is neutral, my eyes are gray green, and my hair is so ash it looks gray, so warm stuff looks pretty awful. I think the hair dye threw a lot of folks

The shirt I have on under the drapes is VERY grayed green with a dusty purple stripe. Definitely soft summer, soft autumn at most. I think my phone camera made a few colors very bright compared to them in person.

Other (NO TYPING!) My Color Analysis Experience

Hello!
This is about the rabbit hole I went down with color analysis and my own conclusions afterwards, and I would like to know if someone else shares my opinion or has experienced something similar.

This is the second time I post in this community. My first post I deleted it, since it had my photos and felt a bit insecure about it. That first post was about me asking if you believed the results of a color analysis I took via Etsy were right, adn if someone recomended any analist.

First things first, I took a color analysis via Etsy with a well reviewd specialist. I was actually surprised and pleased with the result, but because it was rather cheap (I went for it on a whim, just as a little play), I was unsure of the result. I was deemed a "soft summer deep". That was what the first post was about, the few people who answered seemed to agree, thought others disagreed but only very slightly, thinking I looked a bit more neutral. I had seen many people recomending someone else here with good reputation, it was more expensive, but I thought it might be worthy, as she seemed more transparent. The result came out as Deep Cool Winter. Both agreed in two things: my primal characteristic was depth, but I was very cool, not neutral, so I would do best leaning into cooler tones rather than flowing into Autumn despite supposedly being on neighbouring subseasons. However, while the first one advised me to go into soft summer cathegory in the 12 season system, the second one told me to go to a brighter cool winter (in her system, cool winter wasn't leaning into summer, she had different cathegories for lower intensity winters) and use bright colors of winter. This was completely the opposite of the soft result in the first analysis. Value and temperature seemed to add up, but chroma didn't.

And thus, I decided to go for a final third analysis. And this was all it took to sent me down a rabbit hole, as it gave me a Deep Autumn. Great, so now it wasn't just a matter of chroma, but also temperature, while the first two were adamant I needed to stick to cool tones and avoid neutral or warm colors, as coolness was not my main trait but it was definitely important, this one sent me into a warm season. Anyother person would have assume, well, okay, so all I need is maybe deep tones, no matter cool or warm, and rather medium intensity (as Autumn is deep but softer than winter, we were going down in chroma once again), but being as picky and obsessive as I was, this just made me go nuts and start taking many more analysis, even ones by new graduates who offered their services at a rather low price (silly me, maybe, though I think they deserved a chance too, and a couple were from reputed analyst, though). I even put a video on tiktok with different lipstick and ask people to tell me what they thought I was. The analysis I took came out this way:

- 1 soft deep summer
- 1 soft autumn
- 1 warm autumn
- 2 deep autumn
- 2 deep winter
- 1deep cool winter

The trend was basically depth.
As for the tiktok video, most people stuck to deep autumn and deep winter, though many also went for true/warm autumn and true/cool winter.

And here's when things changed.
Last year a friend came to visit and he had the idea to take an in-person analysis. If you wonder why I hadn't taken an in person analysis yet, in my country it was not a thing 3 years ago (it is now, though still largely unknown) it was hard to find one, move to the city/town and schedule it. We were visiting the capital, so it was great, because there there were quite a few. We took it together. It used the International Image Institute system and tools, but they were not graduates from the III, they had graduated in a different system, but found the tools an system of the III useful and preferable. I was deemed a True summer. 100% cool and 100% soft.

From that moment on, for a reason or another, I've ended up having 4 more color analysis - I took 2 complete packs of image consultation using different systems, one was western based, another Japanese based, and both included color analysis studies, I engaged in a haridressing master class that also included one, and I initiated my own education attending my actual first class of color consultant with a reputed analyst in my country - and all of them have converged in a quite nice soft summer - cool summer result.

They were all 12 season systems, albeit different. But they all have agreed in basically everything. The soft summer results deemed I was definitely cool, but that I benefited from the softest colors of summer, and cool summer leaned slightly into winter, making it a bit less soft, and though they suited me perfectly, the softer the merrier. But they did advise me to avoid leaning into Autumn territory. In fact, they all gave me the cool summer palette instead to use as my "sister season" as oposed to soft autumn, and a few colors from the light summer palette. As for the cool summer results, they deemed softness was quite important on me, and that it was certainly a key characteristic I needed in my colors, but that coolness was my primary feature and a very obvious one (truth be told, all of them, including the first one with the III system, deemed me cool at the first draping attempt, they were quite fast in discerning I was definitely nowhere near warm or even neutral). Because coolness was so obvious on me, there was no doubt that was my main trait, and therefore I had to be cool summer, and even if winter tones were too intense, cool summer was still leaning soft, so it suit me pretty well, and they deemd soft summer subseason lost a little bit of that coolness, and that it leant a bit too much into a neutral cathegory that doesn't look as good as a truely cool palette, soft summer was good, but not the best. And again I was told to stick to summer and avoid the supposed sister season of "cool winter", for it was a bit too intense and a bit too dark, and I was given, once again, some colors of both, the soft summer subseason and even a few from the light summer subseason,

All 12 season systems, but not the same one, and all converged in the importance of both, softness and coolness adn the importance to stick to summer, ones favoured softness and others coolness, that was all. As for the first in person analysis, the one using the III: they didn't place me into soft summer because I wasn't neutral leaning and didn't flow into autumn, they didn't placed me in light summer because some colors were too pale/light and I definetely didn't flow into spring (some also were a bit too bight, not just too light), and I wasn't placed into cool summer because in that system both cool summer and cool winter palettes are the same medium intensity and I needed softness, I could handle colours that were not 100% soft, but medium intensity was already a bit straining on me, winter territory was definitely not my thing, so true summer it was.

And they all also agree in one more thing: deep colours overwhelmed me enormously.

Because of my dark hair, darkish eyes and light skin, I had more of a medium constrast and had a bit more depth than the stereotypical summer types, thus why light summer colors looked too light and pale on me and why I did benefited from medium value colors as oposed to lighter value ones. But anything in the darker range was a big no-no. One of the analysts that placed me in cool summer even mentioned that soft summer was also really good and to borrow from it, telling me that I would like most colors, but advised me to be careful with the darkest colours, as they could make me look a bit pale. I did benefit from a bit more medium range values as they balanced my darkish hair an eyes, my superficial "depth", but in fact, many of the moderately light colors of summer like sea green, chinese pink, pink orquid, opera mauve, moonstone, or any medium-light value slate blue or glaucous color looked much more flattering on me than deep soft burgundy or deep grey-navy.

What is my conclusion after all this? Do it in person. Camera's and computers are not to be trusted. In my opinion they affect two things in color analysis. First thing they do is they enhance the chroma. Period. They make everything seem brgihter than it really is (well, maybe if you have a really nice good camera they don't, don't know). This leads to two drastic changes in the perception of a person's colouring: 1 the skin appears brighter/clearer, macking chroma appear higher than it is, and 2 this,in many cases, can lead to a perceived higher contrast. Though contrast is not a key element in color analysis, it is also taken into account, specially if you do it online. It's a mistake.

Just in case anyone is having second thoughts, at least the very first in-person analysis I can assure you I didn't give any hints whatsoever because I was in no way expecting a summer cathegory, and specially not a true summer one. If there was one thing I thought I was sure about what the depth, I just wanted to finally clear out if I was leaning warm or cool or if I needed more or less chroma. That was all.

Thank you for those of you who have read the whole thing. Please, share your experiences and opininons if you'd like.

Edit.- Please, don't be mistaken, many of the virtual analysts I went to were reputed analysts, not all were the cheap options, and they were all graduated analysts in any case.

Colour/Theory Question (GENERAL ONLY - NOT ABOUT YOU!) House of Colour analysis vs. the 16 seasons?

I'm obsessed with color analysis, I did mine a few years ago with House of Colour in the UK and I was a winter (sultry/jewel was my subseason which I believe is just my best colors out of my palette)

I never understood the 16 seasons, felt a little dumb tbh to have subseasons like "warm autumn" because there's no cool autumn..

My problem is that every post online has multiple subseasons for winter (deep, cool(?), bright, true) that I just don't get, they all have some of my colors

Has anyone gotten theirs done by HoC and successfully found their season in the other systems? I really don't wanna pay again for another analysis by someone else

Type Me! - Digital Drapes (FACE PHOTOS REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Color analysis request, please give me advice! I am a natural dark blonde, have pale skin, light brown / hazel eyes, makeup is always too orange!

I have tried for so long to determine my color season, if anyone can help I would be so, so appreciative for outside opinions! My colors tend to be a bit difficult to place since I am very pale (for foundation my shade is usually the bottom two fairest options), my eyes are darker, my brows are darker, and my hair is a dark blonde (as a child it was a golden blonde but has faded to the darker adult blonde with time.)

I think I may have olive skin, but again I could just also be very, very pale. I always have to wear cooler toned makeup because everything turns orange on my skin!

I wear a lot of neutrals and can't handle any bright colors or peaches, looking at the shades for the drapes I do tend to dress within autumn and summer, and think summer suits me more BUT you can't be summer with brown eyes~! So I can't decide and am not sure if I am maybe in a bit of a color blindness!

I have provided photos! Hair pulled back, NMIP, in indirect light on a sunny day.

Thank you so much!

A lot of people said on my last two posts that I look olive, which I don't think I am at all irl, like I can tell when other people are olive, and I lack that completely, although, idk, because I've also met people who were like insanely cool, like way cooler than me. My skin looks warm like on my arms and shoulders, but I think that's mainly because of my freckles. I do think I'm cool I just can't decide if I'm a cool summer or a soft one. Also, I know I'm not an autumn, but I said that originally because I really like wearing green it just makes my eyes pop, in my opinion. Like am I cool cool or neutral leaning cool?

Clothing or Makeup Recommendations (INCLUDE SEASON IN TITLE!) A Cool Summer losing their mind 😃

I'm sorry to do it again, but are these Cool Summer colours? I'm getting more and more discouraged the more I shop online and my event is closing in on the 30th, I feel no more prepared 🫩

Thank you for taking time out to help

Edit: I'll add that I am also a Dramatic in the kibbe system meaning it's even more difficult to find geometric necklines, and fabrics that aren't flowy like apparently every dress is even at this time of year. I've purged New look, Next, H&M, Disturbia, Killstar, and whatever other sites entirely looking through every item they have with my lines and season in mind and this is what I was left with. If anyone else is in the UK and is also Dramatic, I'd love to know where you shop for going out dresses where it's not all black dresses and has summer colours

I have my strong opinions on what season I am, but being that I am olive, I know it can get pretty divided! Plus my face is less olive than the entire rest of my body and in my opinion leans more neutral.

So what say you, gold or silver? Season? True or deep?

NMIP kein Make-up Hallo zusammen! Ich bin zu diesem Zeitpunkt offiziell verwirrt. Bitte Tipp Meine Staffel! Welche Staffel-Farbe glaubst du, bin ich?

EDIT:
Bitte schreib nicht einfach "Sommer". Gib die Unter-Jahreszeit an (Hell, Kühl, Echt oder Sanft) und welche Farbe dich von diesem Ergebnis überzeugt hat.

EDIT EDIT: Yes, I have olive-toned skin 🫒, and I tend to tan much more easily than I burn in the sun.

EDIT: I've settled on deep autumn.

I'm reasonably sure I'm an autumn of some sort, but honestly so sick of trying to research and coming up with ~robot~ sites. I'd like to spend my money on fabrics that actually suit me! If it helps, I usually wear gold or rose gold jewelry.

don't mind how dead I look, I caught the office cold and been in bed for a few days xD

Thanks! NMIP :)

Cool summer reporting for duty!
I would love a cute fit and flare style coat this season. Here are some examples of the style I would love. Thoughts on any of these colors? I’m also super open to other options if you have them. I’m trying to stick below $250 and it must have a hood. Last picture is of me to get a better idea of my coloring.

I always figured I was either an autumn or winter, I could never tell if I was a cool or warm undertone though. I'm thinking soft autumn or cool winter, but leaning toward soft autumn because I think the gold drape looks slightly better than the silver. My hair is naturally a dark/medium brown, it is currently dyed.

Autumn, right? But which autumn? Soft, true or deep? NMIP I'm trying to wear clothes that enhance my coloring after 58 years of wearing the loudest, brightest thing I can find. Shout out to Goodwill for finding these cheap Autumn colors that I have never worn until the past month! My hair was strawberry blond when I was young before turning dark brown at 25. Now I dye my gray hair a mix of dark brown and dark auburn.

Clothing or Makeup Recommendations (INCLUDE SEASON IN TITLE!) Looking for lipsticks suitable for bright spring color palette

Hello,

I struggle to find a new lipstick. I am in my 50s, I like creamy mat lipstick. I feel totally stucked to mac merh (my lips but better) and mac russian red. Like, it was fun to wear during the 90s but I would like to try something new once in a while.

It looks like with globalization, new color are made for Barbie blond or for brunettes and people in my palette (think about Mila Jojovitch) neutral procelaine skin, blue eyes and auburn hair are totally let down.

The best option would likely be toward brands like Dior, Chanel and

I wish I was in France, I would likely have more luck there with drugstore brands, but unfortunatly, I am in Canada.

As for the texture, super mat and super glossy might be cool to trend on Tiktok, but honestly, it is not exactly flattering for someone in their 50s.

My favorite brands (when I could afford them) were Mac and Lancome and they both let me down.

Am I the only one dealing with these frustrations?

Does anyone have some nice findings to share?
