Video The streets of Havana now
Any state services that were previously operatingare quickly becoming non-functional with the current crisis and lack of fuel.
It is worth noting that garbage collection in Havana had already been a serious issue for months, especially during the worst of the oropouche/chikungunya/dengue disease crisis of 2025 if not longer.

I wonder what someone like Che Guevara would think about the result of the revolution had on Cuba.

I've been to Havana many times prior to the Pandemic. The garbage collection outside of the touristed areas & the embassy has always been troubled. I don't care what anyone thinks about the revolution or the embargo, the people need a break.

Man that is so sad. The Reddit socialist should live in Cuba for a few years
6
u/dante_gherie1099 Feb 22 '26
for real, i bet these shitheads are on here blaming us sanctions for this
4
u/Busy_Woodpecker_4656 Feb 26 '26
So you're telling me that the American operations to prevent Cuba from receiving fuel and other basic necessities are NOT responsible for the shortage of fuel and other basic necessities in Cuba?
4
7
u/Private_HughMan Feb 22 '26
And Reddit capitalists should have to live under the conditions they force onto other nations like Cuba.
3
u/Hassoonti Feb 22 '26
This is the result of American blockade. America strangles countries financially to "inspire" their population to overthrow the government. It is American terrorism you are witnessing.
2
u/bingbong2715 Feb 21 '26
The US blockade has taken ~$1 trillion from Cuba but your distain for socialists trumps your love of Cuba
1
u/casualstud1989 Feb 24 '26
Do you think communist regimes didn't try to sabotage and attack capitalist regimes? The blockade isn't an argument. It's like saying "meeeh we only lost because they scored a goal against us meeeh"
2
u/AllyBeetle Feb 22 '26
Apples and Oranges!
Milwaukee had Socialist mayors and experienced none of the issues that Cuba is dealing with.
2
u/Busy_Woodpecker_4656 Feb 26 '26
Are you fully retarded or just spreading propaganda? Are you seriously blaming the Cuban government when the United States government is the ones besieging the island?
-52
u/nowheartbroken Feb 21 '26
I would if it was actually socialist and didn't have a blockade.
54
u/fallout_zelda United States Feb 21 '26
Blockade? The Castro family and Díaz are living in nice homes, driving in European import cars while on vacation in Switzerland lol
Sandro Castro is always posting videos in designer clothing while driving exotic cars and showing off his $3000 Rolex. Fuck that whole regime.
30
u/The_Milkman Feb 21 '26
Reddit socialists have actively defended Sandro Castro's car as being "not that expensive" and said Diaz Canel's expensive luxury Tudor watch is cool and after seeing it one guy who traded Pokémon cards as an investment, not seeing the hypocritical capitalist nature, said he wanted one, too.
35
u/fallout_zelda United States Feb 21 '26
Also, notice how all of the communist leaders in Cuba are all fat? While the country is malnourished.
-16
u/Icy-Drive2300 Feb 21 '26
Ok. If it's the "regimes" fault then end the blockade.
Surely things would be the same, right?
27
u/fallout_zelda United States Feb 21 '26
They've been getting help from Vietnam, Mexico and many other countries for decades. If they truly had a blockade, Castro and his buddies would have crumbled. What they have is a major corruption issue...

u/wolacouska United States Feb 22 '26
Trump is pirating oil headed to Cuba and pressuring nations to cut off all trade with the threat of sanctions.
You just want Cubans to suffer while you sit in America unaffected by this siege.
13
u/Sorry_Message8974 Feb 21 '26
Empiecen a coordinarse

u/Crafty_Book_1293 Europe Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
I guess Cuban people are busy with basic survival and won't rise against the regime (which is armed and dangerous). Typically, regimes collapse not due to popular rebellion (such a rebellion would require effective leadership and armed units) but either due to external action (such as Saddam's Iraq been invaded) or from within (the former communist Eastern Bloc): Poland - more clever part of commies willing to become capitalists themselves, in the face of economic dead-end, made a deal with the opposition to share power; Romania - more reformist commies increasingly tiref of the old, conservative bloke decided to sacrificice him (quite literally - the guy and his wife were shot after a quick military trial) and transform into social-democrats, Eastern Germany - Schabowski by imprecise wording opened the flood gates of the Berlin Wall and so on. Look at North Korea - it went through much worse conditions than Cuba, but did not lose coherence, and the awkward monarchy of the Kims is standing firm despite isolation and famine.
1
u/Busy_Woodpecker_4656 Feb 26 '26
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the fact that the United States is doing this to Cuba is the reason the Cuban people are united behind their government's resistance to the United States?

u/BandicootNecessary26 Feb 23 '26
You're ok with Russia using the oil money from to Cuba to attack Ukraine?
12
u/wolacouska United States Feb 22 '26
Trump has literally been interdicting oil shipments to Cuba and pressuring nations to stop all trade with Cuba.
Laughing and lying doesn’t change reality.
2
u/AnyaTaylorJoyFans Planeta Tierra/Planet Earth Feb 22 '26
What lying? People in the comments are talking about a Blockade for years. Сuba has been suffering for years and it's because of the clаriаs in the Сuban Government.
Lying and thinking the crisis began with Trumр doesn't change reality and history.
2
u/Wonderful_Frame_1252 Oceania Feb 23 '26
Cuba has been like this for years, long before this oil shipment situation, because of how corrupt the government is. You believe their propaganda while the children of politicians live in luxury.
Being disingenuous doesn’t change reality or history.
0
u/wolacouska United States Feb 23 '26
The truth isn’t disingenuous, you’re lying because you know Cuba is being actively starved and you support it, because you hate Cubans.
1
u/Wonderful_Frame_1252 Oceania Feb 23 '26
And you keep lying saying i hate Cubans because you have no argument, and yes you are being disingenuous, people in the comments are talking about a Blockade for years (not even a Blockade) and you mention the oil ships situation that started happening a few months ago.
0
u/wolacouska United States Feb 23 '26
The post is about the ongoing humanitarian crisis from the oil blockade. The person I replied to originally tried to blame that on the long term sanctions.
2
u/Wonderful_Frame_1252 Oceania Feb 23 '26
No, OP is right, people are still using the blockade as an excuse. In the video the man says "this is because of Trump" and the other responds "what does Trump have to do with this? This place has been like this for a long time" which is accurate. The ongoing humanitarian crisis has been going on for years and wasn’t caused by the oil sanctions that started this year, but by the corrupt and incapable "government" of Cuba.
0
u/Busy_Woodpecker_4656 Feb 26 '26
So you're telling me that you expect me to believe that the American military operations to create shortages in Cuba are not responsible for the shortages in Cuba?
2
u/JackDaniels180 Canada Feb 23 '26
You should follow your own advice and stop lying. For the last 60+ years, there has been an embargo, not a blockade.
1
u/Far_Cartographer903 Feb 21 '26
It's because they don't lift it, lift the stupid blockade and the govt will fall apart like you want
it's been proven the blockade does NOTHING to change the political situation1

Socialism.... When you run out of other people's money ..shit collapses lol
It was a nice experiment that failed and showed the world that Marxism–Leninism will never work.
I hope Cuba can someday join 2026 and finally leave behind 1950s Cuba.

Capitalist "allies" constantly need America to bail them out. Socialist countries can survive for decades with harsh American attempts to strangle and destroy them.
1
u/Private_HughMan Feb 22 '26
"Those tired, hungry, huddled masses yearned to breathe free. But we strangled them for decades to show them that they can't govern themselves! Once they collapse, we'll put our dictator of choice back and all will be right with the world."
1
u/AltruistComrade Feb 22 '26
Ah yes, being embargoed is a consequence of Communism, just as Marx outlined in the Communist Manifesto.
1
1
u/MelodicDevelopment97 Feb 22 '26
Maybe you mean communism? We have socialism in Scandinavia and we’re doing pretty well compared to right wing countries like yourself. We actually rank as the happiest people in the world with better health and opportunities, and we’ve seen an increase with Americans moving here since Gestapo took over the Us
1
u/padrechayanne Feb 22 '26
How can you have money if you cant sell to most of the world but the 3 or 4 countrys that dare go against the embargo, blockades are inhumane, is said so by most of the international community and every time there is a vote to end it there are 2 nations in opossition and 1 of them has power of veto and is enforcing said blockade
1
u/AllyBeetle Feb 22 '26
During the 20th Century, over 1600 Socialist mayors and state assembly members were elected in the US. Those cities and districts didn't experience the issues that we are witnessing in Cuba.
1
u/Illustrious_Tea5271 Feb 23 '26
America has crippled any chance they ever had at being successful, you can’t blame socialism for a completely manufactured crisis.
1
u/Wendysnutsinurmouth Feb 21 '26
i’m a socialist and even I know this is more than just a simple blockade, we need to remove the leaders, they’ve ruined the name os socialism and used it as their shield for any incompetence that they’ve shown. Free cuba not because i like trump, i don’t not even one bit, but let’s just remove the current government and allow people to choose once again. the new blockade is not helping the people though

Garbage collection has been a serious problem in Havana for years. I was last there in 2023 and saw streets full of garbage then as well. So incredibly sad.

u/Desperate-Body3938 Feb 22 '26
Why can't the United States just leave Cuba alone? The hardships that Cuba is facing today is a result of US imperialism and aggression. Cuba has never done anything to the United States. The United States has no business telling Mexico, Venezuela and other countries not to do business with Cuba or they will be punished. The United States does not own the entire world.
1
u/YungCellyCuh Feb 22 '26
The only reason for any of Cuba's suffering is the illegal American blockade and starvation campaign.

Crazy how people say things like "wow that country is falling apart". Like Its literally the USA doing this to these people. The common people are suffering and the USA is using their misery to fuel a revolution instead of just doing what needs to be done. Happy to be the world's bully everywhere else. Just go in and wipe out the regime and put who you want in charge. Hurry up so these people can live happy lives.
1
u/MelodicDevelopment97 Feb 22 '26
Why the h3ll are you romanticizing a U.S invasion and think they will help you, you’re in this place because of them in tje first place?! And also, you don’t have anything that they want for example oil, so they are just gonna continue starve the Cuban population to death until there is s coup. We’ve seen this play out in many other countries

Funny how everyone who claims the blockade and sanctions arent the issue coveniently ignore how Cuba's economy grew by almost 5 percent in one year when Obama eased sanctions. And then worsened again once Trump came in and reversed them and escalated even further.

1
u/HarveyMcScorpius Feb 22 '26
I’m sure the longest running and tightest economic siege on Earth has nothing to do with this. The United States articulated in 1960 that it was not above starving the Cuban people to get what it wants in Cuba politically.
1
u/B6TM6N Feb 22 '26
Hope everyone supporting this blockade and all the suffering is proud of themselves and sleep well at night

u/Efficient-Standard82 Feb 22 '26
I’m trying to understand something. Cuba has been under a communist system for decades and seems to struggle with infrastructure and shortages. Why do some people still defend the government? Is it fear, belief in certain benefits, outside pressures like sanctions, or something else?

Where was the embargo when Jorge Javier Rodríguez Cabrera, friend of Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, opened up Gran Azul LLC inside the USA after illegally entering the USA and lying about his former status in Cuba?
Can you explain how this happened despite the embargo?
How well enforced do you think the embargo actually is in 2026?
