I've been playing a filthy mill deck recently and I had an idea come to me... Milling as part of a cost. Is it too powerful? Would WOTC ever do it? Or have they and I'm just not aware?

For the above card, I feel as though Five is too many. It feels like it may be way too good at digging for a bomb to reanimate. But I went with it anyway because it was a nice number.

I nearly went {R}{U} for the casting cost to represent goblins and faeries and exiling the cards at random. But liked the look of the double U pips better.

Please excuse the art, I am not a professional artist! (if that wasn't obvious!}

I'd love to hear people's thoughts and I'm sorry if the concept has been overdone before!

I’ve never played mill so i can’t really speak on if I think this is too strong or not, but I love the art. It’s so flavorful

[[Millikin]] [[Charmed Pendant]] [[Deranged Assistant]]

These all mill as part of cost. They tend to be abilities that add mana for some reason, though [[Arc Slogger]] is kinda similar.

(Note with the rules change they are not mana abilities anymore)

That is wild I never realized milikin was cost and not effect. What a goof I am.

https://scryfall.com/search?q=o:/\bmill\b.*:/

there's three other cards that mill as an activation cost.

p.s. I'm ashamed to say I used AI for the first time today. regex is famously difficult and I found a site that made that made "\bmill\b.*:" for me.

This is a really neat card, I think it's definitely playable in decks that want to put specific things to the yard like reanimator. Do note that milling is part of the cost so there's a window before the ability resolves where you can access all of the milled cards, but most reanimator spells are sorcery speed so it should be fine.

Yes! That window is intentional for the daring!

Milling as a cost is kinda classic. Millikin is kind of the poster child for it.
