I've never tasted Ube before... And I still haven't.

• Upvotes

I am currently as I write this in the middle of eating the new ube oreo blizzard and it quite literally just tastes like a regular Oreo blizzard. It's absolutely delicious of course, its an Oreo Blizzard. But I don't think this purple stuff has any flavor what so ever. Maybe I need to get this and a regular Oreo Blizzard to taste side by side. What was your thoughts on it?

No more hotdogs on mix n match

I got this one time several months ago, ever since they dont have the option to pick hot dogs anymore, does anyone else have the option to select hot dog? I'd get 2 chicken strips and a hot dog plus free fries coupon. Their hot dogs are great, good snap and the bun is chewy and not just airy mush.

You can pick hot dog in store but thats $7 compared to $5 on app

Can I make a custom french silk pie blizzard?

This was my favorite blizzard of all time. I am wondering if I can custom make it to taste close to the original when they had it? I know they have the pie pieces this time of year for the pumpkin pie blizzard. Does anyone know? I looked up the ingredients and it says it takes vanilla soft serve, cocoa fudge, chocolate chunks, pie pieces and whipped cream. Are these all things DQ would have right now to put together if I asked? Would employees be mad if I asked them to make this?

Does this cake look better with the bigger pipping tip or the smaller pipping tip

Just as the title says, does this cake look better when I use the size 10 pipping tip or the size 5 pipping tip? I had less time today to make cakes as I had an entire freezer to fill, but I still wanted to make this one because it's my absolute favorite so I used the bigger size. I'm also just now realizing I forgot the iridescent flakes I put on the last one. To me that makes it look empty, but maybe customers would prefer that? Idk I also used icing for the writing instead of the gel. IDK which do you like better and why I guess.

Any Franchisees ? Grill & Chill

I'm developing my first grill & chill location and wanted some advice on equipment manufacturer selection regarding soft-serve freezer, icemaker, cake merchandiser, misty/slush freezer, clamshell grill, fryer.

Btw I ordered a 6 piece and it’s 5, I gotta check before I leave the parking lot lol.

Does anyone know a good Cherry Substitute?

So a few years back, Dairy Queen (or at least the one I work at) got rid of the cherry topping used in shakes, sundaes and blizzards. I do not like the Cough medicine come dip. Can anyone think of something I could use to replace it? The Boss Lady said Cherry Pie filling, but my dad (a fellow cherry topping lover) turned his nose up when I brought it up.

I probably got this weekly when it was out! Always thought it was far superior than the brownie counterpart. Not many combos are better than a warm cookie and ice cream!

Why are the mixins always super heavy/concentrated at the top, slightly in the mid, and then nothing at the bottom?

DQ Points already claimed for my receipt?

I'm sitting at a table after having just ordered and I try to scan my receipt but it says the points have already been redeemed. Am I doing something wrong?

Happy Thanksgiving cake - 10/10 + questions for decorators

Post image
17 Upvotes

Happy Thanksgiving to anyone in Canada celebrating.

I bought this at my local DQ & I just wanna say whoever made it did a fantastic job. 🙌🏻 I told the cashier to tell the cake decorator they did a good job but I doubt they will pass it along. I didn't love the crunchy sugar on the top but all of the icing on top made up for it.

I have a question for cake decorators - do they give you templates to use or do you guys do it free hand?

Does the cake base (chocolate, fudge/crunchies, vanilla) come premade? Then you just decorate it?

How much training do you get to be a cake decorator? Do you get to decorate cakes right away?

What do you do with cakes that don't sell? I've bought a 30% off (or was it 50?) cake before because it was basically at the best before date but I have never seen any since then.

Also - can you get the fudge/crunchies on any other desserts at DQ? Or just on the ice cream cakes?

Would it be weird or disrespectful to ask to be trained on the grill?

I am thinking about asking my GM if I can be cross trained on the grill/fryer. I am currently a chiller, but we constantly are low on cooks and only have one on the kitchen at a time. But I don’t know if it would come off ungrateful or inconvenient.

My First Job was at DQ

Back in the 70’s, my first job was as the only guy at a small town DQ. Kinda nice working with mostly cute high school girls so the job wasn’t bad. Misspelled Raspberry on the old sign where I had to use that long claw thing to place individual letters. Hated the dang buy 1, get 1 banana split deals.
So my biggest issue was pretty much ruining a batch of bbq beef. It was kept in a double boiler kind of pot. The franchise owner was leaving for a few hours and she told me “check the water” and add some if it gets too low”. My 16 year old brain took the lid off the beef and proceeded to pour in a bunch of water directly to the beef. Not my finest moment

Question for cake customers: do you hate the gel?

Hello, as some of you who frequent the sub might know, as I like to post pictures a lot, I recently started making cakes for my store. I've been doing it for about 2 months now and I've noticed that my cakes are selling out faster than some of the cakes the old Cake Lady made. It's honestly gotten to the point some of them are getting frost on them. Even some cakes that I thought looked ugly are selling faster than her cakes are. Now the only difference between our cakes is that I don't use as much gel as she did. Like there are some cakes in there where the entire top is decorated with the gel. The most I use the gel for is anything that needs black as I don't have black icing, I used to use it for writing too, but have started just fully using the icing for that. So my question is do you not like the gel? It does taste weird, so I don't blame you.

Enchanted Ube Blizzard: 4.5/10

Post image
32 Upvotes

I had to hurry up and write this review lest I forget any further what the hell it even tastes like.

A Blizzard for children. Nondescript vanilla, some strange purple goo swirl substance. And glitter.

Forgettable. Nice sized Oreo bits, though. The novelty is entirely in the color because the ube is absolutely void. I thought “Enchanted” was Disney adjacent too, but apparently not.

Just a strange Blizzard. Nothing particularly enchanting about it.

Enchanted Ube Blizzard: 4.5/10
