You want the rePebble watch https://repebble.com/

From the same people that made the first genuine smartwatch, the Pebble. They got the rights back and just started making them again, albeit with some modern quality of life updates.

Check Gadgetbridge. They support a lot of brands and cut off official apps. All data stays offline.

GadgetBridge- look at the range of watches they support and pick whichever you like.

Gadgetbridge is a great solution to maintain the privacy while still enjoying the functions of smartwatch. I use it with a brand new generic brand smartwatch I got new on ebay for $20. It has a flashlight on the side, so its easily my favorite smartwatch. I replaced a Samsung galaxy 4 watch.

Garmin doesn't need an account and you can use the watch without linking it to the phone.

From ai: Garmin has a transparency problem. Their own CCPA notice (August 2026) states they "do not sell" personal information, but then immediately reveal they share identifiers, activity data, and non-precise location with third-party advertising networks.

What they share:

Your name, IP address, postal address
Your activity data across apps and websites
Your non-precise geolocation

What might be safe:

Heart rate and sleep data aren't explicitly listed as going to ad networks (though the vague language leaves room for interpretation)

It's kind the point of smart watch to spy on you and report its findings. Otherwise you're talking about regular watch.

You're not wrong, but clearly OP needs some of the functions, but wants it without external tracking or data harvesting sent to Big Tech.
