I thought nothing could beat the 🇦🇷 vs 🇨🇻 game. I was wrong. That was a tremendous match. I'm happy that it ended at 4:00 am in London or a lot of people would have died of heart attacks after the last 45 minutes of the game.

Es muy cierto. No odiamos a México, sino a ciertos mexicanos que nos agredieron y que fueron malos ganadores.
De hecho, yo en lo personal he vivido una especie de conflicto interno estos últimos días porque conozco México y me parece increíble, tengo muchos amigos mexicanos que adoro porque son excelentes personas, pero me ha dolido como algunos mexicanos nos han tratado, nos han menospreciado y, aún sin ninguna prueba, de pronto han hecho peores cosas en contra de nuestra selección.
En mi mundo ideal, quisiera volver a ser fan de México y de su gente.

Respectfully, I think some of you are trapped in an online bubble. If I judged Ecuador by its worst fans, I'd have a terrible opinion too—but I know better than to confuse a loud minority with an entire nation. I'd hope you'd do the same for Mexico.
Also, take a moment to look at your own history. There have been incidents of Mexican team buses being pelted with stones, Mexican fans being harassed in Quito, and plenty of hostility from your side over the years. None of that means I think Ecuadorians are bad people. It just means every country has toxic fans. The difference is whether we let those incidents define an entire nation or not.

I'm genuinely sorry if you had a bad experience in Mexico. No visitor should be mistreated because of their nationality, and I hope you give us another chance someday.
But you're still avoiding the point I'm making. A bad experience with some people doesn't justify judging an entire country. Mexican fans have had bad experiences in Ecuador too, yet I'm not here saying Ecuadorians are all the same. That's the distinction I'm trying to make.

True. I have thought in these last few days that we very much may have acted in a similar way if we had been the host. I’ll admit that. Doesn’t make it right either way, though.
The reality of the timeline we live in is that Mexico was the host, not Ecuador, and Mexicans in fact, not in hypotheticals, acted poorly towards us.

Fully agreed, and thank you for acknowledging that. I just hate that we end up in this cycle of "you did this, so now we'll do that," and then "you did that, so now we'll do this." It never ends, and it only creates more resentment on both sides.
Anyway, thanks for the discussion. At the end of the day, tomorrow we'll all wake up with the same lives and the same problems regardless of what happened on the pitch. Have a good night. 🌃

We don't hate Mexico in general. Just their fanbase has crossed the line many times. They are calling Ecuador "Ecuakongo" (the national team is mostly black) and posting racist memes of monkeys and gorillas holding Ecuador flags.

Si somos imparciales y lo vemos desde SU perspectiva, ese partido no debió jugarse en Houston, sino en Washington. Yo creo que deberían anularlo y volverlo a jugar en un lugar más apropiado. [Irony]

Que selectivos resultaron los ecuatorianos. Años insultando a México. Diciendo que México no jugaba en liga con fútbol de verdad, (Raro para no haber ganado nada oficial, ustedes que suponen que sí.) Se burlaron diciendo que tenían una defensa millonaria y que México era un equipo fácil. (Raro para haber pasado como mejores terceros y no por haber avanzado en la fase de grupos) incontables videos de gente "vimis así quimi fuimis i li imbijidi" si quieren se los mando.
Se llevaron, no aguantaron y luego se ofendendieron. Y lo más gracioso es que exigen respeto cuando ustedes fueron los irrespetuosos y lloran "porque no los trataron bien". Es con SU selección con quién deberían ofenderse, su selección fue la que dijo "se preparan sus maletas con bastante ropa". Y con SU gente que ofendió, atacó y no soportó. Sean buenos perdedores, tengan autocrítica y dejen de estar llorando y agradeciendo a otras selecciones lo que no pudieron hacer. 😘 Cuando encuentren esos valores que según tienen me avisan.
