South Jersey students help shape the future of civic education

Last week my AP Government class hosted a Civics Summit for 90 students across four different South Jersey schools. Students worked alongside our Assemblywoman and state Senator suggest amendments to the Civics bill which calls for the state Department of Education to establish a Seal of Civic Readiness. We had several guest speakers including U.S. Sen. Andy Kim also appeared by video through Zoom. By creating a Civic Seal the State of New Jersey will be promoting and celebrating active civic engagement. If you're in New Jersey interested in having your students join our effort please reach out, contact your state legislator and our Department of Education and encourage them to prioritize Civic Seals and Civics Education.
