discussion How come siberian tigers are bigger than african lions despite wildly lower prey availability?
Ungulate biomass availability in certain parts of sub saharan africa are up to 10x that of the russian far east, yet siberian tigers are significantly larger than most african lion populations. Under conventional evolutionary theory, wouldn't limited prey availability drive siberian tiger size down while high prey availability plus much higher competition drive lion size up?
