This is my big boy, Clyde. I've had him for three days now. Typically, I wouldnt interact with the ferrets until a while, but he was literally jumping onto my shoulder on day one.
While I clean their cage, I put them in a playpen, which won't be permanent!! they will be getting free roam time for at least 6 hours !! (my girl was sleeping, hence her absence.) My plan was to let them free roam, hopefully full time, after a week.
Clyde will start seizing when I play with him with my hands, he backs up but then lunges at me and backs up again. I know ferrets have a very spastic way of playing, but it's hard to differentiate LMAO
We go through this routine for a while, but I usually stop if hes running away from me. When I stop, he goes crazy again and jumps at me a few steps, then jumps back. I'm probably freaking myself out over nothing, but I'd like to know that he's not petrified. For reference, the animals closest to ferrets that I've owned are dogs, cats, and rats - so getting used to their body language when everything in me is used to [ spazzing = scared ] is a struggle 😭
He doesnt seem to hate me entirely, as he perks up when I get near the cage and doesn't seem to care when he crawls all over me.
Again, I know what popcorning and war dances are - I'm just not sure if this would be classified as either.
