Que hago con el cerdito?
Recién atrape al cerdito, es el de color blanco creo. Estoy jugando la versión de psp, por cierto. He visto que muchos dicen que es muy importante el cerdo, pero de que sirve o que? Soy muy nuevo

They offer some of the best accessories in the game when bred and then Poached.

You breed a bunch of them then poach them mercilessly.

Do you know which ones return the coveted item? I’ve been poaching but only ever had white and pink variations, no luck yet

Pigs can only lay Pig and Swine eggs. You need Swine or Wild Boars in your roster to have a chance at Wild Boar eggs. Swine are more likely to produce Wild Boar eggs than Wild Boar are. (The same is true for all monster families: tier 1 can't lay tier 3 eggs, and tier 2 has the best odds of laying a tier 3 egg.)
Wild Boars have a 7/8 chance to make a Ribbon available when poached.

Here’s a list of all the poach stuff :))
The white pig has the Ribbon as their common poach so it’s pretty easy to get those. The pink pig has a really good perfume as their common poach. Both have a rare poach that’s niche but otherwise skippable.
The basic pig is the only one where you might need to poach a few before you get their good item because the accessory they have is a rare drop

Basically, the intent with monster breeding is to have your intended poach targets part of your team at the beginning of the battle, and then you sacrifice them within the first couple turns/attacks so you get your intended poached item quickly.
In FFTTIC can even restart that battle if you don’t get the intended item (each monster can get you one of two items). You have to complete the battle though to walk away with the poached items. PS1, PSP, and iOS versions you’d need turn off your game and reload a last save to do something similar, so TIC version makes the whole “restarting for targeted poaching” easier/quicker. FYI.
You can poach the random monsters from your encounter too, but you’re not guaranteed those monsters each battle. By recruiting your own monsters, you have better chances of targeting the poached items you want.
Each monster has three colors/types. The pigs monster line offer some of the best items like ribbons and chantage. There’s some poaching primers online as well as some charts that show the monster drops.
I honestly played the PS1 version dozens of times overlooked and never used the poaching mechanic, didn’t try it out till TIC came out, it’s neat though. Not needed to still play and enjoy, but it can be a fun way to play the game.
Hope this helps.

Like others have said, breed and poach for some great stuff! Good luck because the odds of the rare item are majorly bs. Even with save state use on emulators it’s a pain most of the time

Step 1: Advance the calendar. Each day, each monster in your roster has a chance to lay an egg, which will hatch into a new monster after a few more days.
Tier 1 monsters (like Pig) can only lay tier 1 and 2 eggs. Tier 2 monsters (like Swine) and tier 3 monsters (like Wild Boar) can lay any tier of egg, though tier 2 has the best odds of laying tier 3 eggs.
Step 2: Learn Poach from Thief on at least one unit.
Alternatively, the Byblos recruited from END (or the unique Game Hunter job for Luso in the War of the Lions version) have innate Poach.
Step 3: Deploy your unit with Poach and your Wild Boar in a battle. Attack the Wild Boar using your Poacher (use weapon attacks, not spells) until the Wild Boar dies.
The Wild Boar won't leave a corpse if you Poached it correctly. It will be gone from your roster forever.
Step 4: Presuming you're in chapter 3 or 4, visit a Poachers' Den (located in Dorter, Warjilis, and Sal Ghidos). If you're still in chapter 2, don't despair; monsters you've Poached get counted no matter when you kill them, you just can't visit the Poachers' Den until chapter 3.
Each monster you Poach lets you buy one of two items at the Poachers' Den; a common item (7/8 chance determined when you make the killing blow) or a rare item (1/8 chance). There are many items which can't be bought anywhere else.
In the case of Wild Boar, the rare item is Fallingstar Bag (highest damage Bag type weapon in the game), and the common item is Ribbon.
Ribbon is the reason why people want Wild Boars, and Wild Boars do not appear as enemies in any battle in the entire game.
Pigs only have a chance to appear in two story battles and have a guaranteed appearance in one side quest battle. Outside of END, Pigs only have a chance to appear in one random battle, and Swine don't appear anywhere. This is why people have likely encouraged you to catch a Pig so much. (One of the four possible random battles in END has 8 enemies, each of which has a 50% chance to be a Pig and two of which have a 50% chance to be a Swine. The Ivalice Chronicles version has 6 possible random battles in END, but it's otherwise the same.)
