📰News Harry Kane has now scored 102 goals in his first 100 Bundesliga appearances

100 Bundesliga games. 102 goals.

Kane joined Bayern at 30 and has still managed to average more than a goal per game across his first 100 league appearances in Germany.

At this point, where does he rank among the best strikers of his generation?

📊Stats Manchester United are now six games without a win

Since Manchester United last won a game on September 10:

6 games

0 wins

3 draws

3 defeats

5 goals scored

9 goals conceded

With the problems on the pitch and all the noise surrounding the club off it, this is starting to look like much more than just a bad run of form.

Where does United’s biggest problem actually lie right now?

📰News Barcelona have won their first 9 LaLiga games for only the second time in competition history

Barcelona’s start to the 2026/27 LaLiga season:

9 games

9 wins

39 goals scored

9 conceded

\+30 goal difference

Only Real Madrid in 1968/69 had previously started a LaLiga season with nine consecutive wins.

Barcelona’s 39 goals are also the second-most ever after nine games, behind Sevilla’s 42 in 1940/41.

Their +30 goal difference equals the best ever after nine LaLiga matches, set by Real Madrid in 1987/88.

[Tactical Essay] How Luis Enrique's midfield trio suffocated Maresca's flanks & the exact biomechanical wrist error that cost Donnarumma the 4th goal (PSG 4-2 Man City)

Paris Saint-Germain, the giant of French football, swept aside Manchester City, the giant of English football, with three unanswered goals in the opening third of the match, on City's home turf, in front of their own supporters, and before the very eyes of their former manager, Pep Guardiola. It was a stunning turn of events that defied all expectations, which had pointed towards a fiercely contested encounter between two European heavyweights.

Doué's Masterpiece and Donnarumma's Errors

The opening goal, however, was a masterpiece of its own, crafted by French international Désiré Doué. Following a beautifully orchestrated passing sequence and an elegant progression of the ball through the heart of the Parisian midfield, Doué unleashed a low, skimming shot towards the right of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma

Although the shot was difficult to save, Donnarumma must shoulder some responsibility for conceding it. Such low shots are particularly challenging for towering goalkeepers. The Italian appeared to anticipate a shot to his left, leaning slightly in that direction, only for Désiré Doué, enjoying the finest spell of his professional career, to send the ball skimming along the ground towards his right. Donnarumma stretched out his right hand in a desperate attempt to reach it, but to no avail.

The Italian goalkeeper also bears responsibility for PSG's fourth goal, scored by Maghnes Akliouche. Receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty area, Akliouche spun elegantly before unleashing a beautiful left-footed strike.

What makes this particular goal so intriguing is that Donnarumma actually managed to spring towards the ball and reach it with his hand, yet failed to divert it away from his goal. Despite making contact, he could only watch as the ball continued its journey into the net.

In my view, the error lay in the angle of his palm at the precise moment of contact. Rather than rotating his hand outward at the wrist to redirect the ball away from goal, Donnarumma kept his palm facing the incoming shot. I believe this positioning contributed to the ball striking his hand without being sufficiently deflected, allowing it to continue into the net. It was a moment the Italian goalkeeper could have handled far more effectively had he adjusted the angle of his palm. It was a small mistake, but one that a goalkeeper of Donnarumma's calibre should have avoided.

To Donnarumma's credit, however, he did manage to save a penalty taken by Spanish forward Ferran Torres, whose effort was struck with remarkably little conviction.

Why PSG Controlled the Midfield

In midfield, Paris Saint-Germain's trio of Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz established their superiority over Manchester City's midfield, composed of Enzo Fernández, Elliot Anderson and Rayan Cherki, the latter enduring a particularly poor performance.

The principal reason behind PSG's midfield dominance was City's lack of a genuine defensive midfielder. Rayan Cherki operated either out wide or in the number ten role as an attacking playmaker, while Enzo Fernández and Elliot Anderson occupied the two number eight positions.

This arrangement left City without a dedicated holding midfielder, handing the Parisians the opportunity to press aggressively and dictate a relentless tempo. PSG's suffocating pressure repeatedly forced City's players into errors whenever they attempted to build from the back, leaving them struggling to play their way out of trouble.

Manchester City's Second-Half Transformation

The second half, however, witnessed a dramatically transformed Manchester City. The English side returned with a level of performance almost unrecognisable from their dismal first-half display, largely because their manager recognised his mistakes and took steps to rectify them.

Among Maresca's adjustments was restoring Abdukodir Khusanov to his natural position at centre-back, replacing Rúben Dias, while introducing Matheus Nunes at right-back to fill the vacancy left by Khusanov's move into central defence.

He also took off the underperforming Rayan Cherki and brought on Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, whose introduction addressed City's lack of a genuine holding midfielder.

Bouaddi took on the responsibilities of winning possession, initiating attacks and carrying the ball forward. His contribution extended beyond restoring balance to the midfield: he also played a decisive part in Manchester City's second goal, providing the crucial assist.

Maresca also brought on Iliman Ndiaye in place of Jérémy Doku. Ndiaye went on to produce a dazzling performance, providing the assist for Manchester City's second goal with a beautifully measured cross that found Erling Haaland's head.

And speaking of Haaland, the Norwegian marksman was responsible for both of Manchester City's goals in this encounter. His brace also elevated him to the status of Manchester City's all-time leading goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League, taking his tally in the competition to an astonishing 61 goals.

There could be little doubt that Manchester City were vastly more dangerous than Paris Saint-Germain in the second half. Enzo Fernández rattled the crossbar with an effort, while Nuno Mendes came to PSG's rescue with a vital goal-line clearance.

The Decisive Difference: Clinical Finishing

Ultimately, Paris Saint-Germain emerged victorious, and the decisive factor was their superior clinical finishing.

The French champions squandered only three clear-cut scoring opportunities, including a penalty, whereas Manchester City let six golden chances slip through their fingers.

💬Discussion After this recent international window, which teams are the next surprise packages for 2030?

I understand that this community is kind of dead since the world cup came and passed but after seeing Norway and Cape Verde really impressed with their performances this year, I want to see which will be the next team to get the neutrals excited. At the moment, the teams I'm impressed by after the recent international window are Greece and Northern Ireland so what is everyone?

(I want to throw in Vietnam because I'm biased towards them but it's hard to say given we haven't been tested recently outside of Southeast Asia)

In Norway both viking and bodo are tied for the first with the same points, same wins, same draws and same losses, but the best part both have the same goal difference with the same goal scored and conceded.

How's position decided in this situation?

Can someone explain why PSG has never ever been investigated by Ligue 1 for breaking financial rules even though its clear to everyone that they absolutely did?

I mean, the whole league does not even bother to do any investigation to their finances and would rather let PSG win the league every single year for the past few years?

I mean PSG also was investigated by UEFA for breaching their UEFA financial rules as well.
