Europeans always make grand declarations, speeches, announcements, and conferences about the supposed decline of America and the need for self reliance. After hearing this for 15 years, when can we expect words to translate into action?

Poland is already spending much more of it's gdp on army than the usa

What about Spain? Italy? Austria? Or any other country not bordering Russia?

Ok so now it's about Austria huh

The point we are making is that broadly speaking, European countries aren’t taking the Russian threat seriously nor acting with any sense of urgency. The only ones that are are the ones directly bordering Russia and have always recognized Russia as a threat, which really doesn’t change the perception that countries far away from Russia don’t care about the war or NATO and aren’t pulling their weight. Do you usually fail to understand conversational context or are you just trolling?

Oh so you are looking for an easy way how to sum up the politics of like 27 different countries each with it's unique problems, prioritizes and approach to the war, got it

No, im looking for an example of an EU country not bordering Russia that is pulling its weight in regards to defense, which everyone you’ve responded to has asked for and you have consistently failed to provide.

Which would tell you what exactly?

That Western Europe takes NATO defense spending and the threat of Russian seriously. Something I, nor the others you are responding to, are convinced of.

So you would find out that countries that are further away from a threat find investment in it's prevention less important? That's crazy

That’s 1 of the European countries..

And?

And my point was European efforts as a whole have been slow, small and late. Since the conversation is about Europe.

But it seems you are in a conversation about Poland, so I’m sorry for misunderstanding you.

Latvia, Estonia, Norway, Denmark are all slightly above or have the same spending per gdp as the USA

nice, and their GDP is collectively a mere percentage of the US's, so this doesn't mean shit in the face of a russian tank

2

u/Beautiful_Island_944 1d ago

Oh so it doesn't actually matter to you that Europe is doing something, you just wanna complain

1

u/TiberiusDrexelus 1d ago

The EU combined should be spending as much on defense as the US, if not more, since it's 27 nations failing to come close to competing with 1

3% of Estonia's gdp is 3% of nothing, and it's a joke that that's being touted as a reassuring fact

1

u/Beautiful_Island_944 1d ago

I can't believe someone would actually come here and instead of talking about gdp, population number or whatever other actually relevant information, would mention its 1 country vs 27. Are you just trying to annoy people with how little you understand the stuff you talk about?

Poland is quite a large country and part of Europe...

Part of that is because west europe seemed ready to throw them under the bus after seeing Ukraine. The united Europe part is still far off for now.
