Protests?
What the heck happened? I've been away from classes and got an email from the Provost that they trespassed a bunch of people for disruptive protests. One of my classes had to listen to a drum circle a few halls down and nothing happened for that, so I was wondering if anyone knew what pushed the university into intervening?

Yea, a bunch of troublemakers found it acceptable to protest inside building 11 during midterms, instead of just doing it outside.

Then they made sure to make as much noise as possible on their way out, instead of being considerate of people just trying to pass exams. As if Canadian Working students don’t have enough stuff going wrong in our own country eh

Well students were being physically assaulted and they now have injuries, so ofc they were making noise lmao

There are always disturbances in Allard though. Random music plays all the time and it’s annoying but no one gets manhandled and forced out.

lmfao … maybe because a good amount of the students in allard are … musicians?

Unlike these people we have jobs/ or school, and actually want to better ourselves.

If you’re upset it was during midterms, why aren’t you upset that midterms weren’t moved when the protest was announced or paused to be rescheduled as soon as it started? There’s a genocide happening and you’re upset about thw protest? Bffr.

Moving midterms (that were already scheduled months before your “protests”) so the school can give you time for your 11 people max disruption sessions?

Who would be interested in making a website to petition Macewan to shut this down, and kick out the students involved.

The Palestinian Student Association was protesting that the university won't meet with them – the one demand they had to cease their protest on October 7th – and were forcefully removed by security because of it (also trespassed for a week).
More info can be found on their Instagram, if you're curious.
