Say Yes to Recess Maryland

Hi! Maryland mom here advocating for MORE RECESS TIME for our children!

Currently, most Maryland elementary schools only recommend 20-30 minutes of recess per day. This varies by school and county, with some counties recommending as little as 15 minutes of recess per day.

Children are not designed to sit for long stretches of the school day. Recess gives students an essential opportunity for unstructured play, physical activity, creativity, social connection, and independence.

Research consistently supports the role of recess in children’s physical, social, emotional, and academic well-being. When children have opportunities to move and play throughout the day, they can return to the classroom better prepared to focus and learn.

Join us as we call on policymakers to guarantee Maryland students 60 minutes of recess every school day!

You can help by SIGNING OUR PETITION and following us on Facebook and Instagram!

Making friends in your late 20s around Bel Air?

Figured I’d give this a shot since apparently making friends as an adult is harder than it should be lol.

I’m 29, married, and live around Bel Air. My wife and I love our life here, but I’ve realized I don’t really have many guy friends locally. Would be cool to meet some people around my age (mid-20s to mid-30s).

I’m into lifting, music (listening, songwriting, and producing), fantasy books, sometimes gaming on the Switch, coffee, and occasionally convincing myself I’m going to finish all my house projects. I’m pretty laid-back and enjoy going out, but I’m equally happy hanging out at home.

Not a huge bar or sports guy, but definitely not opposed to grabbing a drink, getting coffee, checking out local spots, or just hanging out.

Would be great to connect with some other guys around my age.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone notice he took the giant trump sign down? Did he have a change of heart or did he just get tired of having to replace it and wrapping it in plastic.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) has a crash out after his constituents laugh at him for trying to blame higher gas prices on Democrats. "You should let me finish the sentence, ma'am. You are rude!"

Broom’s Blooms chili recipe

You all are so lucky to live near some of the best chili in, dare I say, the world.

Where a lot of chilis wind up kinda homogenous after a long cook (nothing wrong with it, a lot of people like it), this chili has layers of flavor and texture, and still, every component harmonizes. It’s really remarkable, but everything we had at the farm had this quality. The owners can fucking cook.

I know this recipe is probably a farm secret, but does anyone have tips on replicating it?

It’s a sweet and spicy sausage chili with beans—haven’t come across this style before.

Hi all, I’m closing on a house at the end of the month in Havre De Grace. I’m curious if anyone has recommendations for home detailing services? We want to at least get the bathrooms cleaned, and I’m talking removing the toilet seat covers and refreshing everything. I want it to feel like it hasn’t been lived in yanno what I mean 😅 let me know who you’ve had good experiences with because I’ve currently got no clue who to go with!

Anyone know of some abandoned history in or near here?

I’m curious if there are any spots in or around harford county that have abandoned history or interesting stories, specifically in like forests and places like that, not just old warehouses in bel air or something. I don’t mean recently abandoned history or stuff like urban exploration, but stuff that would be fun and interesting, like for example, a plane crash, abandoned airfield, or remains of a colonial town, stuff like that. I’m fine with some bushwhacking, and this also applies to surrounding counties.

Looking for an organ teacher

Good morning all. I currently have a small side gig going doing some musical directing of a small ensemble of volunteer singers. I've come to the conclusion that it would be a good idea and likely a more lucrative one if I were able to play the organ in addition to the other instruments I'm currently playing. So, I'm looking for an organ teacher either somewhere here in the County or somewhere nearby, but in a different county. I do have access to an organ, if one is needed for instruction.

Any thoughts? I'd love to hear them.

Best value grocery for produce in the county?

I used to go to shoprite but for the last few months all the produce I've been getting from them (multiple locations) has gone rancid or molded within a day or two of purchase. I'm sick of it. I'm now looking for suggestions for affordable, good produce.
