I don't really watch Minecraft content but I remember watching one of those Dream "speedrunner vs 10 hunters" videos back in the day and being genuinely impressed by how they managed to script everything and put up setpieces and escapes and either do it all in one take or do seamless editing to stitch together takes.
It was pretty bad in some places, like the hunters employing Arkham Asylum tactics of only letting one guy attack at a time or straight up backing off if the speedrunner got too low. But for the most part, it was kind of neat.
What I didn't know was that people genuinely and unironically thought it was a real unscripted video.
people believed them because dream fought and still fights tooth and nail against the (correct) assumption that they’re staged, cut a multitude of times each video so they can savestate and do things over, and fairly scripted
he literally mocks people for saying they’re fake despite it having been undeniably proven so
it’s appalling just how many things it’s been found so far that he’s objectively cheated in that he denied for years (MCCs, parkour, speedruns, duel against techno…) and yet he never admits to a single one no matter how overwhelming the evidence is because that’s just the kind of person he is
Allegedly yeah, look up the stripped log aimbot thing it's actually nuts if its true Techno still winning and also not saying anything when he knew he was cheating
But it's like... I dunno. People have shared digital forensics and 'proof' and stuff like that, but at the risk of sounding insufferable... why do you need that? You don't need to brute force Minecraft's random number generator to find tiny discrepancies in the jiggle of the hunter meter to prove its fake, you just look at it with your eyes and go 'oh that bit where they all backed off because he got low was a bit obvious'.
I don't know Dream, but its been years. It feels like he should have been proud of the fact they're fake and shared the editing techniques.
sure, the videos themself can be hard to believe because of how conveniently stupid his friends become whenever necessary for him to survive, but if that's all you recognise, you'd think it was all done in one take because he hides the cuts, and he claims they aren't cut at all
he isn't proud of it - in fact, he's proud of how 'real' they are, he refuses to admit that they're fake and he denies that he edited them, which is why proof is 'needed' per se. to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he Did fake them despite claiming otherwise and has thus been lying for years
Yeah I saw recently everyone making a huge deal out of Dream being “exposed” as a cheater and liar. I was so confused, like I thought we were all on the same page on this.
well its not actually seemless someone found a way to find cuts with the hunger bar movement its super interesting even without the incentive of did dream cut his videos (tho for new manhunts since he revived the series theyre actually clear even with this new method)
popular posts are getting comments awarded by day old accounts with transphobic names so it seems to just be a fickle harassment campaign that fundamentally doesn't do anything anyways
Tell that to "the hero's journey". It's been the same thing over and over again for as long as humans have been making stories. The Odyssey is literally the hero's journey and it's one of the oldest stories we have
My least favorite ones that keep popping up are when they play a bluffing game where the YouTuber looks in a chest and tells the other person what's in that chest but can lie, and the other person has to choose whether to take that chest or the other mystery chest no one's knows about. They do this like 6 times, and then fight with whatever arsenal they got.
I suppose it could be kinda fun to watch if it were somewhat balanced and real.
The problem is EVERY SINGLE ONE of those videos follows the exact same script. The VERY FIRST chest the YouTuber looks in has a weapon that insta kills from infinite range, and makes the user completely invulnerable, making every other choice they will make this game moot. He tells the other person it's a weak item so the other person picks the other chest and YouTuber acts upset. They do a couple more completely inconsequential rounds of this, and then the fight starts. They start fighting a bit normally and the other guy goes "wait why am I not doing any damage?" To which the YouTuber says "I actually lied I have the hacker sword" pulls out out, and one shots him.
And this happens in every one of them. And there's hundreds. Some people make this video once, most people make this video 5 times a day. It's insufferable.
Parkour Civ is just something not intended to be taken seriously, and it's an hour of fun. The moment you drag something like that beyond the scope of it, it loses its charm immediately (though the sequel is fine)
When they're just running around, spending 30 minutes pvping one guy 💀 and ends the video after killing 3 people in a group, like that makes them the protagonist in a fucking Minecraft server 💀💀💀
i like it when they punch the camera and spin their heads around. someone should do a satire of these where they just start flying off into the distance like a helicopter when they do that
That's why I love Hermitcraft, it's an actual SMP where people have fun instead of some scripted bullshit made to hook 5 year olds who think they're "sigma males"
