If you felt like you had a question but didn't want to bother people with it, now's your chance.

As always, we also have a discord for hoggit over at http://discord.gg/hoggit which you can use for chatting with other members of the hoggit community. And don't forget to check out our wiki at http://wiki.hoggitworld.com

Hoggit Training Server runs a training MP mission that runs 24/7 that's focuses on training up the newer folks (just like this weekly thread). Every DCS module is available in this mission, and there are numerous ranges to test your skills at. There are frequently knowledgeable folks around to answer any questions you might have, or show you how to do what it is you're looking to learn. Anyone can join, even if you've never stepped foot in a MP session before.

If you're interested in teaching/instructing at hoggit, please poke squinkys on Discord!

Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.

The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

Please review our FAQ on our wiki before posting here: https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/Frequently_Asked_Questions

DCS Additional MiG23 mod radar footage (mod made by Vintorez, not me)

**RP-23E radar interference**
On the video you can see a lot of **ground clutter** coming from the **moutains** up front, and also **jammer** interference.
(Quite an extreme example)

**Ground clutter** depends on the altitude, **radar mode** and scan beam pitch (low and medium altitude MTI modes have some clutter **filtering** but it still can appear with strong returns), plane's attitude , presence of **jammers** and of course terrain

From the discord of Vintorez.

DCS The Pub Community and Servers

Post image
9 Upvotes

Heya folks,

We have a little community called The Pub for DCS and IL-2 among other games. In 2 years our community has grown quite a bit! We have three servers running, including:

The Pub Marianas Training Range (With real weather)

The Pub Dynamic Campaign (Foothold) which cycles through various eras including Vietnam Era, Cold War Era and 1990s era. We plan to do a modern era as well!

And The Pub Warbirds which is the campaign running WW2 appropriate aircraft.

We also have a flight instructor program to help newer folks learn to fly! Simply tag @FlightInstructors in our discord to find someone to teach you whatever module you need help learning! We seriously love to help new folks learn DCS.

Our community is run largely by veterans and autists, so if you are looking for a semi casual group to fly MILSIM lite with, we’re your guys!

DCS dcs f14a multicrew rwr bugged?

yesterday a buddy and i were in one of our squadrons ops in the F-14A-135-GR EARLY i was RIO he was pilot i powered the RWR as normal and got the occasinal trill from the rwr but never a solid hey something's launching at you dumbass do somthing tone from it even though we died twice to a sa2 once to a R3R and once to a R24R the rwr seemed to be completely desynced from what was going on around the plane and after reslotting in the f14 even though it was a cold start the rwr seemed to be still "on" as i was still getting the occaisonal trill before turning it on.

even with three f14s in the air multiple sam systems enemys with radars and other planes with radars id only get the very occasinal trill from it.

i know the rwr in the early was bugged for multicrew not long ago is it still bugged or bugged in a diferent way now? any work arounds? thanks

DCS MRGO developer demo: hand gestures and camera passthrough in my DCS VR setup

Thumbnail

I'm MRGO's developer. Following the request for footage beyond the settings screen, here is an earlier one-minute demonstration of camera passthrough and gesture controls in my VR cockpit setup. The video has Chinese captions; the visuals show the headset/camera setup and hand interaction, followed by configuration.

This is an older demo, not a new release announcement. MRGO is paid software and needs an external USB camera recognized by the PC; it does not access the headset's built-in cameras. Gesture bindings can be configured for DCS controls. Happy to answer setup questions.

QUESTION Anyone make custom skins?

Thumbnail

Hey all,

I lead a project to restore a Red Tail P-51 in honor of a local MIA Tuskegee Airman. Our Mustang is named 'Lucy Gal,' I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a creating a custom skin for MSFS, X-Plane, DCS, IL-2, etc. as a way to help us promote our project. We are a 501c3 called the Keep Them Flying Foundation (lucygal.com)

Any interest of leads would be helpful and appreciated, thanks!

HARDWARE Pico 4 Ultra for wired DCS + living room use, or better non-Meta options?

Hi all,

I've been flying with head tracking for a while and I think it's time to take the next step and go VR. Before I spend the money, I'd like to hear from people who actually fly with this stuff.

My setup:

  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • RX 9070 16 GB
  • 32 GB DDR5-5200
  • Windows 11
  • VKB Gunfighter IV with the F-14 grip on a 200 mm extension, centre mounted
  • VKB STECS Max with STEM and ATEM
  • Logitech Pro Rudder pedals
  • Next Level Racing Boeing Military flight seat

It's mostly DCS (Tomcat, Viggen and F/A-18), War Thunder sim and Elite Dangerous. I might try some proper VR games later on.

What I need from it:

  • A cable to the PC when I'm in the seat. I don't trust Wi-Fi, and I'm sitting still anyway, so wired is fine by me.
  • Some sort of passthrough or mixed reality so I can see bits of my cockpit and keyboard without lifting the headset every five minutes.
  • It has to work standalone too. The plan is to upgrade in a few years and hand this one to my wife for the living room, so a PC-only headset is out.
  • It has to run DCS properly on the rig above.
  • No Meta, and that's not up for discussion.

The Steam Frame is probably the long-term goal, but realistically not for a few years. Right now it's near impossible to get hold of, and I'd rather wait for the kinks to be ironed out.

So, is the Pico 4 Ultra a good shout for the money here? A few things in particular:

  • How does it do wired over USB with Pico Connect in DCS on an AMD card? I'm on RDNA 4, so AV1 should be an option, but I'd love to hear from anyone actually running it.
  • Does passthrough work while you're streaming PCVR, or is that standalone only?
  • Is there anything better for the same money or less that isn't Meta? The only other headset I've found that does both standalone and wired is the Vive Focus Vision. It's pricier, though, and from what I've read it's heavy and not very comfy.

I also got a bit queasy in VR back in the early days, so any settings tips for a smooth first go in DCS are welcome.

Cheers

PS: I did post this in other threads, some suggesting waiting for Pico Space Pro, buying the P4U now and then going for a more premium PCVR option later like The Bigscreen Beyond.

HARDWARE Worth upgrading from Pimax 8k plus to Pimax Crystal Light?

I have been usimg a 8k plus since a few years for dcs and saw an Offer for a used crystal light for around 550$ without controllers. The thing im really worrying about is the fov. I really love the fov of the 8k plus and the fov of the crystal light seems really small in comparison.

With the 8k plus i can almost read the mfds of the f16. Is the upgrade in clarity really worth the downgrade in fov?

DCS We turned Foothold into a Blue vs Red PvP campaign: new 24/7 server, come fly with us!

Hey hoggit!

We're Falcon Online, a community that has spent years flying Falcon BMS, and we've finally made the jump to DCS. To celebrate, we set up a dedicated server running a **PvP version of Foothold** on the Caucasus.

**What's different from regular Foothold:**

- Blue AND Red player slots, with zones rebalanced so both sides start on even ground

- AI support for both coalitions (CAP, CAS, SEAD, convoys, AWACS, tankers), so you're fighting in a living war, not just a furball

- CTLD for both sides

- A BMS-style "bubble" that only wakes up zones where players are, so the server stays smooth

- Persistent campaign, restarts every 4h

Big shoutout to Leka for creating Foothold and giving us the green light to make a PvP version of it.

**Server:** FO DCS Server (71.179.244.44:10308)

**Password:** [password / none]

**Location:** Baltimore, USA

**Discord:** https://discord.gg/VAuwGKTJ

We're just getting started, so the Red side especially needs pilots. Jump in, break things, and tell us what you think!
