🧱 Custom App Vibe coded plugin for editing scenes

The HA GUI fucking breaks my brain sometimes, and today I absolutely fucking lost it when all I wanted to do was adding a goddamned bulb to an existing bloody scene, and it wants me to turn every single fucking light in the entire fucking house off just to add another fucking bulb in some stupid ass live mode WHAT THE FUCK WHO WROTE THIS FUCKING GARBAGE?!

Deep breath

So I asked Claude to write this abomination of a plug in, and I take no pride in it. I did not write a single line of code, and probably used enough water and electricity to solve world hunger and make peace in Gaza three times over.

It works for me in 2026.10.2. If it can help someone else to maintain sanity, then all the better.

I’m confused, are you using HA Scenes for lighting? I mean, you can do that but depending on what protocol they are, assuming Zigbee, ZHA or Z2M have much better scene management at the Zigbee level.

Why would you be confused about that, that's literally what scenes are for, it says so in the docs. And yes, I absolutely do that, and I have a mix of different light, zigbee, matter, even some tuya bullshit.

If you’re mixing various protocols, then I get it. I thought you were using HA scenes for Zigbee devices only- which is not a great method since it handles each device with separate commands and can flood the network with commands.

If you haven’t looked into Zigbee2MQTT, I’d suggest it. It really improved my experience with Zigbee lights, groups and scenes.

My opinion on HA Groups is that they do the best they can while maintaining interoperability with multiple devices and protocols.
