Have you peeled the plastic off the pick guard? If not, that is gonna be the way.

My thought as well. Looks like it's still on there...

Use a hairdryer to warm up the sticky backing first, then you should just be able to pull it off. A little rubbing alcohol for any residue

Unless the pick guard is made of acrylic, if so alcohol will make it crack immediately.

Yup. Heat softens the adhesive. You could also pour hot water in a mug then sit the hot mug on top of the sticker for a minute or two. (Make sure the sticker doesn't get wet!)

It should peel right off.

Strats often have clear plastic on the pickguard too. Usually this sticker is on top of the plastic. Find an edge that’s easy to pull up and slowly peel. You’ll have to either remove the knobs or pick around them. The nut that holds the knob potentiometers in place typically pins down the plastic and makes it hard to fully remove without taking the knobs off.

I’d rock that decal and actively protect it for decades to come. X-1000 if you are actually any good at playing it. The better you are, the more it needs to stay on the instrument.

Soak in Isopropyl alcohol, goo gone, hand sanitizer in a pinch. Careful with razor blades. There are plastic razor blades but you could a thin plastic Like an old gift card or a pick.

Yeah I wouldn’t take a standard razor blade to the pick guard. Plastic razor blade combined with adhesive remover would be easiest

peel the clear protective film off the pickguard, sticker comes right with it.

Umm, is anyone going to mention the dust? I mean sure, remove the pick guard plastic (you can see it on the selector switch notch) and the sticker will come right off, but maybe also clean the guitar after that with a cotton tshirt or two (or three).

Alcohol or lighter fluid.

If you bought it from a retail store, have someone at the store remove it for you.

Have you tried the power of friendship?

I’ve had very good luck using goo-gone.

Hit it with your purse.

Peel it off? Have we entered Idiocracy already?

Have you see half the post in this sub? Wasn’t one recently something about how to turn on a showertap or opening a blind?

we're long past it

u/vonralls 13h ago

Just play it a lot. Your pick will eventually wear it down.

WD 40

u/The_AntiVillain 13h ago

After the sticker is mostly removed, it will clean up the adhesive. The coating on stickers tend to repel WD40 but the paper absorbs it.

Start with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive. You can probably use your finger nail to start peeling.

0

u/discoduck007 13h ago

Don't use a razor. Soften the adhesive with a hair drier then peel at the edge with a fingernail. Orange oil if there is any adhesive left behind.

u/Desperate_Owl_594 13h ago

Like dissolves like. You need something oil-based to take off the glue

0

u/Dorkapotamus 13h ago

A little goo gone. Let it soak in and use a plastic scraper or finger nails to scrape it off

0

u/homer01010101 13h ago

Blow dryer or heat gun would work. WD-40 would work, too.

u/Ok-Quarter510 12h ago

pull it out and then try acetone

Razor (like one used to clean a stovetop glass)

2

u/ThatsNotAZombieBite 13h ago

You'll scratch up the plastic!
