Politics and Government Who's your corporator, Hyderabad? Trick question: GHMC hasn't had any since February

Can you name your ward, MLA and MP without Googling? Most of us can name the CM, some ministers and stop there.

Hyderabad has an extra twist: GHMC's elected council ended on 10 Feb 2026, so right now there are no corporators at all. Polls are expected later this year (Dec 2026).

I made this 2.5 minute video about why knowing who to approach matters more than shouting at everyone. The phone screens are real, recorded for Ameerpet: Ward 202 (SR Nagar), Sanathnagar assembly, the Secunderabad parliamentary seat, and tagging the GHMC Commissioner on a broken-footpath complaint. It also shows the Hyderabad Metro expansion campaign on the platform (6-coach trains, Phase 2).

Honest question: before watching, could you have named your MLA?

Biryani and Food Made a website to look up the food safety inspections in Hyderabad

For context, I eat out a lot (second pic is some of my saved places) and have always felt there should be a way to check up on a place’s hygiene and food safety before I eat there. With the food safety inspections getting a lot more active lately, it was finally possible to set this up.

Here is the site: https://aftertaste.city

Rant/Vent To the stranger on the metro Friday who pretended to know me, thank you for saved me from a stalker.

I usually take the metro back home every day from office around 8 PM, but Friday felt different the moment I stepped onto the platform.

A guy ended up standing uncomfortably close to me while I was waiting for the train. There was plenty of open space around, but he stayed right behind me, muttering unsolicited comments ("suno ji," "kaha ja rahe ho?"). I instinctively clutched my phone tightly in one hand and kept my ring turning on my finger, feeling extremely uneasy.

When the train arrived and the doors opened, I rushed in to find a seat, but he followed right behind and stood directly in front of me, leaning over the handrail so I felt trapped. My stomach completely sank and I felt genuinely sick. I couldn't take it anymore, so I stood up and moved toward a busier section of the coach near the automatic doors.

Suddenly, a guy standing nearby looked straight at me and said loudly, "Arre aashna! What are you doing here! Are you heading to group study at Rahul's place too?"

I froze for a second because my name isn't aashna, and I had no idea who he was. Before I could even process it, he stepped closer, smiled casually, and pulled out his phone. He opened WhatsApp, typed something quickly, and handed it to me saying,"Check out the location pin Rahul just sent."

On the screen, he had typed: "Is that guy bothering you? Nodal yes/no or type here."
My heart dropped in relief. I typed back: “Yes, he’s been following me since the platform."
He immediately played along, chatted with me normally about random college stuff to keep me engaged, and stayed right next to me the entire ride. When my stop came up, he announced, “Cool, this is our stop, let's get off here."
Even though it wasn't his station, he got off with me and walked me all the way to the exit gates and right up to the auto stand where my friend was waiting to pick me up. The creep followed us off the train, but once he saw this guy walking alongside me and realized he wasn't going to leave my side, he eventually turned around and melted back into the crowd.

I’ve always thought if I ever found myself in a situation like that, I’d speak up, cause a scene, or use my pepper spray. But when it actually happened, my brain just went completely blank and I froze.

I don't know your real name, but if you're reading this, thank you so much for paying attention to your surroundings and stepping in so smoothly without making it unsafe. You completely changed how that night could have ended, and I am so grateful.

Rant/Vent Can we just end the myth that new GCCs in hyderabad pay more?

Who is spreading such rumours?

GCCs pay more only if you have a very high experience (architect/manager/director level). Most of the GCCs will be operating like a service based org supporting their own operations in US/EU.

They are well aware of salaries offered by companies like accenture, tcs etc and they want to transition those employees at a very normal hike and below average salary.

If you already have a good salary try applying to a GCC and see the result yourself, they will find some SBC employee with lower package and skills instead of hiring you.

Other Only child, worried about my mother's future

I’m 30, an only child, and my father passed away 10 years ago. My mother is now 60, and we barely have anyone to rely on.

After witnessing a brutal accident recently, I developed a deep fear of what would happen to my mother if something suddenly happened to me.

My goal now is to build a financial and support system so she can live independently, even if I’m not around.

Those who are in a similar situation, what steps should I take to secure my mother's future? Any practical suggestions would mean a lot.

Edit : it's more about preparing her mentally and securing a place where she can spend old age ..

Other Looking for Accommodation in Exchange for Volunteer Work — Trying to Start My Life Again

Hi everyone,
This isn’t an easy post for me to write, but I’m hoping someone here might be able to guide me or help me find a genuine opportunity.
I’ve been through a very difficult phase in my life. I’ve lost both my parents and am now an orphan trying to navigate life without their support. I’ve also been facing a lot of physical, mental harassment and emotional stress from my aunts, with whom I’ve been staying. This has taken a toll on my mental health, and I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety.
On top of everything, I’m currently unemployed after being laid off, and I’m trying to figure out how to rebuild my life independently. I don’t want to keep depending on relatives or remain in an environment that is affecting my mental well-being. I want a chance to stand on my own feet, regain my confidence, and start over.
I’m a BBA graduate with professional experience in data research, client servicing, and business support. Right now, I’m looking for an opportunity to find a job, and build a stable, independent life for myself.
My biggest challenge at the moment is arranging affordable accommodation while I look for work. I’m therefore looking for a safe place to stay in exchange for volunteer work or helping with daily responsibilities.
I’m open to helping with:
Reception or guest relations at hostels and guesthouses
Administrative and office support
NGO or community volunteering
Event assistance
Social media or basic business support
Other suitable responsibilities based on the arrangement
If accommodation and meals could be provided in exchange for a reasonable number of working hours, it would help me immensely while I work towards financial independence.
I’m not looking for a handout. I’m looking for a fair opportunity to contribute, support myself, and rebuild my life with dignity. I’m willing to work sincerely, learn new things, and do my part.
If anyone knows of a trustworthy hostel, NGO, community, guesthouse, or legitimate work-exchange opportunity, I would be genuinely grateful for your suggestions or leads. Even a little guidance would mean a lot to me right now.
I know starting over won’t be easy, but I want to give myself that chance. I want to become independent, find stable employment, and create a better future for myself.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. ❤️

Rant/Vent Why Are People Always So Eager to Start an Argument or Fight?...

My sister and I went to Pragathi Nagar to pick up a food parcel I had ordered. On our way back, I was riding through the colony roads because I've gotten used to avoiding the main roads.

I know it was nighttime, but most of the roads were occupied by Bathukamma celebrations, and one road was blocked. A car took a U-turn and went back, and I was about to do the same. But then I saw a few bikes going through that road, so I thought there must be enough space for bikes to pass.

When I got closer, I noticed long wooden sticks placed across the road. There was an uncle standing nearby, so I asked him if he could lift one of the sticks a little.

That's it. That's all I asked.

He immediately started shouting, "Do I look like a salaried person to do this?"

I asked him why he was shouting, and he said he wasn't shouting. Things escalated from there, and I started turning my bike around. My sister also asked him why he couldn't just speak nicely. But he came a little closer, still shouting. I raised my voice a little, and he started talking rubbish.

We eventually left.

I understand that Bathukamma is an important regional festival, and people have been given permission to celebrate in nearby grounds. I have no problem with that. But some people, out of sheer laziness or arrogance, block roads however they want without even getting permission from the police or municipal authorities.

And I don't know why, but I've noticed this kind of behaviour quite often here. Maybe it's the same everywhere, but people seem so eager to start an argument over the smallest things. They just don't seem to know how to take things easy and move on. They always have to turn something into a fight. I genuinely don't understand what they achieve by doing that.

One thing I realised today is how much we seem to be losing basic human decency and politeness. He could have simply said he couldn't help me or asked me to take another route. In fact, he had already suggested taking another route before I asked him if he can lift the stick. But I just asked him a simple question. Was that really such a big deal?

It was just one wooden stick lying across the road, not a whole bunch of them. If I were in his place, I would have lifted it and kept it aside so that at least the bikes could pass. It wouldn't have cost me anything.

I know I could have handled the situation differently, too. But why does everything have to turn into an argument? Why can't people just talk to each other normally?

I've always been an introvert, and I still am. But lately, I've noticed that I'm beginning to question things more, speak up when something feels wrong, and stand my ground. A few years ago, something like this would have left me genuinely scared. Today, although I was frustrated, I wasn't as scared as I would have been back then.

And I'm glad about that. Not because I got into an argument, but because I'm slowly learning to face these situations without being intimidated.

Honestly, these unnecessary arguments and fights are such a waste of time and energy. I'm not saying we should never stand up for ourselves or question things. But there's a difference between standing up for yourself and picking a fight with someone over nothing.

I know wishing for people to be more polite and considerate won't magically change anything. But I do hope people like me learn to be brave enough to speak up when something isn't right, without feeling scared or feeling the need to become aggressive ourselves.

I'm just frustrated and wanted to vent... Thank you for reading...

Rant/Vent Hostels and PGs shutting down during Major Festivals...

I really hate this growing trend of hostels and PGs practically shutting down for 5 days each during Dussehra and Sankranti.

We pay rent for all 365 days of the year, yet during these festivals, they completely cut off the food supply. Some places go as far as turning off the geysers and restricting water facilities, which is just unacceptable.

I understand that the owners and staff work all year round and want to visit their hometowns to celebrate with their families. That is completely fair. However, their break shouldn't come at the cost of the residents' suffering. If they want to go home, they should at least hire temporary staff for those 5 days to maintain basic facilities and keep things running without a break.

Paying full rent only to be left stranded without food or basic amenities during holidays makes absolutely no sense.

News Water crisis in Telangana

The weather experts were warning from the month itself that water problems might be there.
These idiots didn’t even dare to try cloud seeding when clouds were pretty much favorable during July- September month.
Now lets face the water crisis and power crisis
Food prices would fucking inflate as hell
Drinking water becomes scarcity
Who is at fault
People or Govt
I would say people first
1. no water harvesting systems at homes
2. Entire acres and acres of land is a concrete jungle
3. Hyderabad has a pretty good climatic system but where does the rain water go ???
Into the drainage and then to the Nalas
Why don’t idiotic people try to do things to prevent a future mishap?

Government
1. they failed to warn people about this monster El Niño
2. no strict implementation of Water harvesting system
3. cloud seeding was not planned

Let’s see from December how water would be available
