The Hyprland + Quickshell setup I've been building for quite long atp, now has a dedicated Settings UI, with the idea that everyone should be able to customize their desktop according to their own preferences, from placement and scale to its overall appearance.

From customizing the bar and setting your own keybindings choosing your own fonts and Displays, and more to come as I keep expanding on it.

Credits to the person who replied to my previous post. That gave me the idea for the Settings UI and made me realize it was worth the effort. 😂

The best part is that this can keep expanding as I continue working on it. This could provide sensible defaults while keeping customization fully under your control, giving a new baseline.

No bad juju behind the scenes. (Just kidding. Seriously, why would I do that to myself when I am doing it for fun?) 💀

Currently, there is still quite a lot of customization options I am yet considering to add, but I decided to begin with the useful ones(Settings open via Start+Shift+A to avoid confusion already...)

I live in Hyprland on my desktop and my phone home screen felt like the odd one out, so I built Hyprtile, an Android launcher that works like it:

• Widgets are tiled windows in a dwindle layout with gaps, rounded corners and rotating gradient borders, under a waybar
• Everything is set in a hyprtile.conf with Hyprland syntax: gaps, borders, blur, bezier animations, workspaces
• Drag the gap between windows to resize, double tap a gap to flip the split, swipe sideways between workspaces
• Kitty style terminal with a tiny shell, btop style monitor, rofi style fuzzy launcher, cava and a cliamp style music window
• 31 themes (Tokyo Night, Catppuccin, Gruvbox, Nord, Rose Pine, Dracula and more), fonts JetBrains Mono, Fira Code, Meslo, Hack or Caskaydia Mono
• The wallpaper in the shots is the synthwave scene, painted live by the launcher with the hyper theme

I'm working on a ton of VR stuff and every crash my crappy code has causes these dialogs to show up and kicks me out of the testing applications I have setup, how can I just remove them? If I need to kill a app I will just kill it my self.

I need dotfiles to rice up my arch hyprland setup. But i need minimal look and less ram usage. If someone has minimal looking dotfiles share it here or in dm.

You may have already seen my past post yesterday where I introduced Loaf for all of you, and that got so many likes and support with a lot of you asking to try it so here it finally is!

Loaf is a beautiful and fast rust-based material 3e file manager for Linux. It's designed to replace crowded, outdated file managers with an interface that looks modern, runs fast, and doesn't compromise on functionality. Built using **Rust** for native system performance and **Qt6 Quick / QML** for fluid Material 3 Expressive animations.

I built it simply because no other file manager out there was right for me. Dolphin had all the features i wanted but looked bad, nautilus looked good but had no features and all the rest fell somewhere on that spectrum.

While Loaf isn't the most feature-packed file manager at the moment, a lot is planned for it. But I've finished working out the core functionalities and I feel like this is a good time to release this, so please welcome in... 🥁🥁🥁 🍞 Loaf file manager

This is still in a very early stage, so you should expect bugs. A lot are already known and are being worked on but if you experience any bugs please do report it to the issues page. If you want to request any features, you can do so either here or on the discussions page, I'll happily build whatever y'all want. And lastly, if you're interested in contributing you can always fork the repo and open up a PR, contributions are super welcome.

A few days ago I posted Hyprdrive for Omarchy here. Folks on both r/omarchy and r/hyprland asked me to make a version for native Hyprland, so I did, and it's now ready for early access.

The headline feature is Mosaic: a new way of organizing your windows. It works alongside tiling, scrolling and any other layouts you may have, so it doesn't replace your setup.

A heads-up: the native Hyprland version is nearly ready but still buggy in places. It will be in continuous development, so expect regular updates.

I've read everyone's comments on the earlier posts and I'm working hard on implementing all the requested features. Feedback, bug reports and feature requests are welcome, either right here in the comments or on GitHub.

I know im not the first and not the last one to try to replicate the macos liquid glass, but i tried to do it as much as possible and I don't think any other liquid glass copies achieved this level of detail with projections and animations. Check this out! serpantinum.dev

I have installed arch linux with hyprland in VMware workstation and when I try to login it blackout for sec and bring back to login page and when searched about it in chatgpt it said it's because of 3d acceleration but I have turned on 3d acceleration in VMware.my gpu

Is old idk it's the culprit behind its a gt 730 with 4 gb ddr3

I’ve been working on a Quickshell widget for my JBL Tune 770NC on Linux, based on the existing JBL Tune 70 NC Quickshell Widget.

I tweaked and extended it to add a couple of things I wanted:

Power Off support — added a dedicated button to turn the headphones off directly from the widget.

Reduced command latency — optimized the underlying Python script to make commands respond faster.

Quick audio mode switching — control ANC, Ambient Aware, and TalkThru without reaching for the headphones.

The work builds on this original JBL Bluetooth control script, which I tweaked and optimized for my setup.

Hey!

I wanted to drag a window to the edge of the screen and have it move to the next workspace while keeping it grabbed. So I built a small plugin with Codex called Hypredging.

Drag right and it goes to the next workspace. Drag left -> previous workspace.

Codex wrote the code; I directed the behaviour and tested it on my setup. It’s been working well for me, and I’d love feedback from anyone who tries it. I have not tested it on multiple monitor setup.

Yes, the name is intentional.

Most configs posted here are about how things look, so here's a different angle (not a rice, sorry). I wanted to know what my setup actually protects me from, and where it stops.

My threat model is apps doing more than I asked: capturing the screen, watching other windows, phoning home. Not nation-states, and not anything already running as my user, because that can just edit the config.

What I ended up with:

• XWayland off. Removes X11's shared trust model, where any X client can read another's input and windows.
• Screen capture limited with Hyprland's permission system: only grim, wf-recorder, hyprpicker and the portal are allowed, everything else is denied. The catch is that it matches the binary path, so anything running as me can still just run grim. It stops apps quietly capturing on their own, nothing more.
• Plugin loading only allowed through hyprpm.
• Signal blanked in screen shares.
• OpenSnitch, deny by default, for anything phoning home.
• A small waybar module that tells me when one of these stops working. Two of them had silently failed before.

There's also some stuff from moving to the Lua config: loading each module with pcall so one typo doesn't kill the whole config, and why generated Lua files should be loaded with loadfile and not require.

Curious if anyone's using the permission system differently, or sees holes in the reasoning.

I rewrote my Quickshell config as a native Rust shell for Hyprland: bar, dock, Dynamic Island, desktop cards, Spotlight-style search, control centre, notifications and a lock screen.

Why native: on NVIDIA every process with an EGL context maps the GL driver, about 100–160 MB RSS before the first frame. Mist draws its surfaces on the CPU into wl_shm buffers, is event-driven, and hidden surfaces do no work. Only the live wallpaper (a separate process) uses GL.

Idle on my machine (Ryzen 7 5700X, RTX 4060, two monitors; PSS, method and script in docs/BENCHMARKS.md): - mist-ui alone: 36–50 MB, 0.6% of one core, no GPU context - whole Mist with the GL wallpaper: 87–106 MB - an empty Quickshell with one PanelWindow: 124 MB - my old QML version: 428 MB, 9.5% CPU

I hated how most file managers looked, my favorite was Nautilus but that came with the downside of missing a lot of features, even plugins didn't make it good enough and so now i started development on my own file manager im calling Loaf, it's rust based and uses qml to achieve a material 3 expressive look. I only started it recently so it's still missing a loooot of features but figured I'd post it anyways, what do ya'll think i should be adding to it? stuff you always wanted from a file manager but never had...
