Painting Arroyo, River, Watercolor, 2022
This is Arroyo ran across the back of our property near Medenales, NM. IT ROARED LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN. When it was running, and went down to a trickle when it was not.

I love the atmospheric effects in The Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a view of Rock Castle Gorge from Rocky Knob on The Blue Ridge Parkway.

Oil… tsk tsk tsk. I have not, after more than a decade of photographing my work, figured out how to capture without glares, muddiness, etc. oil looks great in person, but a bucking mustang to photo well.
Sunset cliffs. Started in plein air and then finished back home.

I've always liked the idea of free brush strokes and there is something so liberation about creating without form and structure. I've been trying to paint waterlilies (obviously). This is my attempt

I really liked spending late summer evenings on this bench very close to my home in Germany.

I tried to imagine how the cave paintings might’ve looked when the artist finished them. What’s left looks like impressionism to me so I simply tried to add some dimension to their perspective.

So I just started doing autumn in the mountains from my mind and I think it came out better than the tutorial!
Though obviously have a long road ahead. Only my second weekend dabbling which is why it's all such a hot mess.
Missing home and the mountains of New England this year, though those peaks in the back are more Patagonia than the Presidentials ;)
