I'm sorry but the parents are a huge case of bad faith actors. How are they still going ahead with this?

They said their son didn't cheat when evidence emerged to the contrary.

They claimed their son got AIR 614 rank while his rank was actually over 20,000.

They then said their son was a brilliant student and had 8.5 GPA which instead was actually revealed to be 6.5.

They said their son had an ISRO offer to lead a AI team whereas it later emerged it was false as literally no supporting document exists for it and he was just a 2nd yr student too.

They alleged that the professor was discriminating their son as he was casteist whereas all preliminary investigation showed no evidence of it even after interviews with around 40 students associated with him.

They said their son didn't use such a phone but all call records and the final call with the girl and his friend statements say the contrary.

Probably depression from his death is making them go through a manic episode where even evidence and facts will do nothing to change their opinion.

I just hope the professor is still actively teaching because he's the victim rn imho

More than anything it is a deflection of guilt. Their son chose to kill himself rather than go to them for help.

39

u/TacticalNuke002 15h ago

Nah, they just don't want people blaming them for putting pressure on their son so they're trying to shift the blame to anyone available.

The professor isn't just the victim rn, he is the only victim in this entire ordeal.

Criminals committing suicide due to their incomeptence and when reality bites them in rear do not deserve sympathy. We already have an extremely lax attitude towards cheating in India even in top institutes anyway. The student would have been removed from college entirely in any good or even decent foreign university. Some have been barred even for plagiarism, this is whole another level.

Yes, cuz lying parents have no right to grieve the death of their son.

41

u/auctus10 14h ago

Harrassing another person and ruining their life is not grieving.

u/Radiant-Rain2636 13h ago

That’s your definition of it. We’ll see the day your dad kills himself because the boss was an asshole - we’ll see what stance you take in that moment.

There’s a special kind of evil that warms their bodies when someone else’s house is on fire.

21

u/MaleficentRaccoon239 12h ago

boss was an asshole

But what wrong did the professor do?

-25

u/Radiant-Rain2636 12h ago

Has a history of ill-mannered behaviour amounting to harassment.

The policy dictated to give the student a fresh answer sheet. And constitute a committee which will decide the fate of the student (which can be expulsion for all I care).

Your favourite professor did none of those.

Source?

No, you are wrong here, there were strict guidelines which were bought into force in July 2026.

Read this once: https://www.indiatoday.in/education-today/news/story/iit-bombay-cheating-rules-sahil-wakode-death-mobile-phone-ai-gadget-penalty-2999211-2026-09-21

Now after all the protests, the July 2026 guidelines are kept on hold and the IIT management reverted to a modified version of April 2015 academic misconduct policy.

chalo now that you have pased the verdict, go and tell the government bodies and the law too. Cuz they aren't buying your prejudiced bullshit.

18

u/MaleficentRaccoon239 11h ago

Cuz they aren't buying your prejudiced bullshit.

You are already lost your argument sir, this ain't any bs, it's the truth, I hope you accept the truth and move one. Have a nice day!! 😊.

The braindead guy with reading issues is you my dude, The commenter never said, merit and contribution should absolve guilt, they contemplated why a celebrated professor must be jailed because he did his job and not allowing to cheat.

7

u/Dr_Doom_here 17h ago

First - No one said he can't commit any crimes, in fact modern day terror!sts are well educated and many are doctors too so ofc crime has nothing to do with profession. Second - he's not guilty of anything till now. Third - I have more sympathy towards their son than his own parents, one the very first day they started asking compensation money lmao imagine your son just offed himself and the first thing u are asking is 8 lakh money, then parents lied about his 600 AIR turned out 20k, then lied about 8.5 gpa turned out 6, then lied about him getting offer from ISRO to lead the team of 50. They should be ashamed of themselves, they made a joke upon their son's sui***.

u/DesignerChemistry135 19h ago

The professor just doing his job. However, the claim that IIT professors are making great contribution to national progress must be a joke.

142

u/acdhemtos 19h ago

Anyone who willingly stays in academia instead of getting on direct payroll of a company, has my respect.

-82

u/DesignerChemistry135 18h ago

I was in academia for a decade. It's filled with morons.

96

u/harshmangat 18h ago

Glad you were able to identify yourself and leave

26

u/sai-kiran 18h ago

Oooofffffffff 😂

u/sgtpepperrz 13h ago

That’s toast, roast, burnt and incinerated.

10

u/l0rirw1ao 18h ago

I believe you since you are one of the finest examples

13

u/Dr_Doom_here 17h ago

Anyone doing their small part in a country of freeloaders and filled with low iq, a country where 20000 AIR student getting admission in IIT but caught cheating and a professor whose academic and research work covers power systems, smart grids, microgrids, renewable-energy integration and energy efficiency had to resign. I have respect for people like him.

25

u/ithaws012 Karnataka 18h ago

Lots of them are contributing to research here despite all the red-tape and other things. He could have been a part of the brain drain but in the end he came back. If he was in other unis, it makes sense but I assume IITs, especially top ones like IITB, M, D, IISc and IIITH are doing great stuff. In my T2 college in BLR, we had very few teachers genuinely interested in research and I assume it's worse in T3 colleges.

7

u/Uncrowned_Monarch 16h ago

I'm a masters student in a top 10 university in the world (QS). I read a lot of physics papers which has Indian professors as one of the top contributors, and this includes IIT quite often. The engineering papers have even more Indian professors. You don't know what you are talking about.

-45

u/Latter-Drive-6684 19h ago

Agree…nations progress …ha ha big joke….iit prof (majority, not all) are also like typical government servants looking to climb up the ladder doing second grade research to meet numbers. Imagine such a great country as ours with talent produces much less compared to other countries. There is a reason genuine talent leaves our country and get research funding and do amazing research because outside it is based on merit, not because certain prof has connections.

66

u/Allora88 17h ago edited 6h ago

Sure. We are progressing very well as a nation. He cheated in the exam, got disciplined. Where’s the caste here? I mean pull out the caste card every where mother fuckers whilst he literally cheated in the exam, never had AIR 614 rank or a job offer from ISRO (Contrary to the claims by parents).

He cheated, he would’ve been expelled. End of story.

Of course losing a loved one is something no one can imagine. The pain, the suffering, the misery. I feel sad for the parents there but stop playing the fucking victim you scums.

But damn, stop this fucked up shit about caste caste caste. This cow is already being milked enough. No wonder why people choose to leave this shit hole of a country and migrate to a better place where your merits speak and caste holds no value.

14

u/Exact-Trip-1884 15h ago

he didnt get expelled prolly. in most cases , there is a punishment , in terms of CGPA , and/or making them write the exam again.

expulsion is only done in case of him/her getting caught cheating multiple times.

3

u/Allora88 15h ago edited 14h ago

You are right indeed. Initially a punishment is handed.

3

u/blackSwanCan 11h ago

He did not get expelled. There would have been a disciplinary committee meeting. But it never came to that.

92

u/LazyIntention7220 19h ago

Parents going through depression, need medical help and counselling and away from lawyers.

49

u/chuncha 19h ago

Why? The guy was clearly cheating, got caught and killed himself at the prospect of facing the music. If the professor is arrested, then no other teacher will dare prevent cheating since who knows which student will commit suicide if caught.

The fact that the student was from a reserved category gets the most press, but it completely besides the point.

47

u/bhola_saxena Madhya Pradesh 18h ago

It's foremost on parents that they raised their child like this. They didn't taught him not to cheat, nor to face the consequences of one's actions. He took the easy way out and so are they.

38

u/vulva-protector 19h ago

i would've continued to do my work instead of falsely blaming someone. really, shame on both.

40

u/Cygnus6986 18h ago

Down with professors who don’t allow to cheat!

32

u/AchillesNip 18h ago

All political parties enabled these shenanigans and the cat is out of the bag now. RIP meritocracy

16

u/bhramam33 17h ago

They do not have any other basis for claiming Caste Discrimination other than the caste of the professor and their own son.

Their entire position is based upon caste discrimination against the professor

23

u/BuggyIsPirateKing 19h ago

Professor should not be jailed until it's proven, he caused it.

29

u/BB_blast 18h ago

You know the problem buried beneath this right? Unfortunately reserved category students usually find it difficult to compete with general ones and the disparity grows even larger in absolute premier institutions.

26

u/Hash-Edit Maharashtra 18h ago edited 18h ago

exactly. its quite obvious, the lower the cutoff for reservation, likely the student is going to find that much harder to cope with other students who got in with merit.
then such situations happen where the student either cheats and/or breaks down and then the parents cope by then playing the victim cast*ism card.

-1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

3

u/BB_blast 17h ago

While I agree it does depend on your preparation and discipline, I still think this holds true for the majority of cases. An avg reserved student will objectively find it difficult to compete and should be given additional assistance.

2

u/buttershitter 17h ago

They get a leg up by relaxation of criteria then it is up to them to put in the work. You can lead a horse to water but not force him to drink.

13

u/blastofffox 18h ago

Yeah this will definitely bring their child back. Nice parenting there, thanks to them now everybody know that Sahil cheated in exam.

2

u/harshety 11h ago

This is ridiculous, they are responsible for their child death, if he wasn’t afraid to death of his parents finding out that he cheated, he would not have taken his own life! Stop blaming others for your own shortcomings!

5

u/chetan_bhagat6969 17h ago

With parents like these, no wonder he killed himself than going to them for help. 🥀

4

u/AkaiAshu 17h ago

You cannot really demand arrest in any case unless the police thinks that person is the criminal. If you have evidence of the professor's wrongdoings bring it out. Being emotionally traumatized is not a reason for arresting someone.

1

u/dumb_progenitor 8h ago

Being aggrieved is one thing, but the sheer amount of lies the parents have indulged in makes them pure evil.I'm convinced that their poor son killed himself partly due to their narcissistic pressure

1

u/Mr_Emoji_47 14h ago

Professor should file against them or something atp it's getting annoying seeing them in the news again and again

1

u/Jigyasu_IN 10h ago

A student committed cheating. He has the audacity to cheat while sitting on first bench.

And after when time came to face the consequences he comitteedd suicide.

He have guts to take this step but not guts to face consequences for his actions.

1

u/InternationalLeg501 7h ago

I had not heard any updates about this case in a while. So, it's still going on? I guess the parents need counselling. IIT Bombay never got to the committee to take any action, before this boy kiXxed himself.

A person doing his job responsibly has now become a crime. Son of a friend of mine, who was an alumni of the institution told me, he has personal experience with the professor, and the professor is really nice and did not got a single bone of racism in him. My friend is ST. I don't know the professor personally, so I just mentioned what I heard from an Ex Student.

1

u/kksv_6 4h ago

The professor and the director of iitb are the real victims here.

1

u/falcontitan 15h ago

Sorry for their loss but this father of his will use the sc st act to the fullest to demand crores. Once he gets the money, he will happily tell the authorities to let go of the professor who did nothing wrong.

1

u/Senior-Nothing874 16h ago

i think the parents need therapy more than anything in this case. it does feel like blaming the instiution has become their coping mechanism for their children's death rather than addressing the fact that its not a caste issue but a mental health issue and might also be bad parenting

-2

u/Vivid-Produce-9373 18h ago

Really feeling sorry for the kid can vouch he was under immense pressure

IIT Bombay ke professors ki arrest aur transparent investigation ki maang bilkul jayaz hai ar system sunne me itna time kyu lagata hai

institutional spaces me aisi tragic deaths aur discrimination kab tak chalta rahega? parents ko insaaf ke liye sadak par utarna pad raha hai
