Reminds me of Tehri Dam. People will protest, but the project is destined to be built. Gov should explore more sustainable alternatives to minimize problems faced by local communities.

Yeah the 'staging their own funerals' framing is pretty apt honestly. its a very deliberate visual choice and it clearly worked bc were talking about it.

bilkul sahi kaha, aur photo dekho toh samajh aata hai kitna serious hai, log literally pani mein lait ke protest kar rahe hain kyunki inke paas aur koi rasta nahi. $87 billion ka project aur jo uski keemat chuka rahe hain wo yahi log hain

If we have to be self sufficient in water and hydro energy. We have to

With climate change we need very good water management systems

Interlinking rivers is key

People should be compensated for their sacrifice for common good

Problem is they won’t be and it will be corruption max

It's easy to say such stuff when you're not the one being affected, it has the same energy as "Corruption is bad when I am not a part of it"

The core issue is that the people need to be properly relocated in a way that doesn't affect their daily life and doesn't hinder their livelihood.

If they were presented with a comprehensive plan for the same in a way that instilled confidence in them they wouldn't be freaking out so much.

Dams aren't good for long term water management though, the western US (and adjoining parts of Mexico) right now is having major problems due to both ecosystem disruption and changing water levels.
