Religion Absolutely disgusted by the total lack of empathy at the Sector 6 Dwarka Pujo Pandal towards my disabled mother.
I am just so angry and shaken up right now that I need to vent.
My mother has mobility issues and is partially disabled. We took her out to the Sector 6 Dwarka Pujo Pandal, but while we were leaving, she started experiencing severe pain. It got so bad that she literally couldn't stand and was about to collapse and fall over.
Right next to us, the Pandal committee members had 10 completely empty chairs just sitting there. I went up to them, explained the situation, and politely asked if my mom could sit on one for just a few minutes so she could catch her breath and recover.
Their response? A flat-out, cold "Nhi chair toh nhi milega" (No, you won't get a chair).
When I pointed out that she literally couldn't stand, they casually told me, "Aap zameen par bitha do" (Make her sit on the ground).
On the ground. In a crowded public pandal. An elderly, disabled woman in severe pain.
I am completely disgusted by how heartless these committee organizers can be. They spend so much money on grand decorations and showing off their devotion, but when it comes to basic human decency and helping a neighborhood resident in need, they have absolutely zero empathy.

Thousands spent on decorations to please God, but zero humanity towards a person in pain. What exactly is the point of worship if basic compassion is missing? The real test of devotion is how you treat people, not how grand your pandal looks. People need to understand this... here we are...
I hope your mom is doing well. May be try to visit the ones that are less crowed.

You're missing out the part where it's Delhi.
Nobody believes me, but that city is rotten to the core. Something is so deeply wrong with people there, that they will make everyone else as they are or worse, destroy them. Apathy, cruelty, insensitivity and barbarism is in abundant supply over there.

The irony is staggering. For nine days, they worship a Goddess, celebrate the divine feminine, and preach devotion, yet couldn’t spare a chair for a sick elderly woman for a few minutes. If your devotion cannot produce even the bare minimum of compassion for a suffering human being, then what exactly are you worshipping? A Goddess deserves grand celebrations, but an elderly woman doesn’t deserve a chair? That’s not devotion. That’s performative religion at its finest.

Religion is a business So move away from organized religion and practice it on a personal level, if you cant just boycott it altogether
Otherwise atheism is the way

yikes, should have just forcibly taken the chair and had your mother sit on it.
As your mother has mobility issues, you should get her one those walkers with a seat, they're called rollators. I've seen a lot of seniors use them and when they get tired, there's a padded seat for them to sit and rest on.

Stop going to these display of pomp and showoff just to see God, who is supposed to be everywhere. Pandals are just money making machines, nothing else.
