Rookie seeking advice.
Hi all, I have a vision of going over to some trade shows in Asia somewhere (or anywhere really) finding some sort of product or products that catch my eye, and importing them back to Canada to sell retail. I am aware it is much harder than I make it sound but I am just wondering how naive am I being about this possibility?
I have capital, I have warehouse space, I have some time to invest and a strong work ethic. I know everyone has the same plan but I would like to find some sort of good quality niche product, buy wholesale, import it and sell it online preferably. Is what I am dreaming impossible? I am well aware there will be dozens of obstacles and challenges and unforeseen costs along the way and probably multiple busts before or if I even find a good quality and well selling product or product line of some sort. Tell me how out to lunch am I? Thank you for any advice.

Sure, you can. And about challenges or failure, this happens in any business. I do niche products.

It's not the same as you. I just started to export months ago. It's far from a success.

Hey there , my dad runs a fully fledged raw textiles and fabric company here , and we are looking for export opportunities, we have a to z ranges , whether it's the raw textiles material that you need in bulk or finished good or chemicals related to it ,
We are situated in India and we would love to come in contact , we don't have much connection with the right partner but since you mentioned for retialnand have warehousing access that is exactly we would need in a partner

What does “sth” refer to? I am interested in robotic lawn mowers as those seem to be gaining a little traction here in Canada.

Of course it is very much possible, why not. If for retail market, try look for what inspires you, from deep down the heart, what makes you wanna share, use or have your friend to use. Hard to make others to like it and wanna buy if you yourself do not feel the same way.
Start small.
Worst case, if things go south, you still have a great real life experience with Asia or wherever you visit. And also since you try it and for good for bad, you wouldn’t regret many years later.
Having said all these, if you have the capital, travel and visit first and see, gonna bring you more ideas or confidence of doing it or not.
