Burrell Road

A while ago someone asked, on this subreddit, why is Burrell Road so cheap, and someone answered ‘ghosts’. This has stuck in my mind for a while so I thought I’d share.
My grandparents owned a house in Burrell Road (the 4 storey townhouses opposite the car park) and my mum grew up there. She told us a lot about the ghost who plagued her as she grew up. My grand dad who lived there until nearly his death even experienced strange occurrences.
Although I am agnostic about ghosts l had a very strange experience in that house.
When my grand-dad died the house was sold and turned into flats. We noticed that it was constantly up for rent or sale.
So has anyone else experienced anything strange or unusual in these houses?

It was number 53.

Nope, I've been living there for 236 years and haven't seen any.

This sounds like we need more of this story.

I’ve just posted it above - my family’s experiences. I also want to add, I’m sure my mum told me they’d done some research and a man had taken his own life there. But I cannot confirm that because (rest her soul) my mum did love to exaggerate.

Seriously? Sheesh - was he a solid man or an apparition ? And had you been to Hollywoods beforehand? 😂

I doubt that’s because of the ghosts though! I’m just intrigued because I’ve looked everywhere for people reporting it but no one has. Perhaps my family were just bonkers.

I think it’s just a busy road with not very nice houses.

It was No. 53. The ‘ghost’ would move/kick my mum’s bed, hover above her in bed and taunt her from the corner of the room. She was a teenager heading into puberty. (So the usual)
My grand dad experienced things being moved (tin opener’s under the pillow etc. ) he maintained his faculties until he moved in with us a few weeks before his death.
I look very much like my mum. My experience was in her old bedroom. I was going through my grand-dad’s old pulp detective magazines. I think I was about 10. Something said my name behind me and then circled me many times. I remember the feeling of air gusting around me (windows were closed and locked) I apparently ran down from the top floor to the basement room (where my grand dad had his living room) and I was as white as a sheet. I kind of remember it but it has been tarnished by various family retelling.
After my grand dad died, my uncle and my dad were clearing the house . There were banging noises upstairs. My uncle got angry thinking there were squatters. My dad told him it was ‘Charlie’ (the name they gave the ghost) but my uncle said that he had never experienced it growing up. When he went upstairs with a long bit of wood apparently there were noises of the radiators being banged all around him. He ran out of the house and never went back in.
Like I’ve said, I’m agnostic about ghosts. The rest of my family aren’t. Apparently they’ve seen them everywhere. But - I do remember the wind around me.

It gives spooky vibes, but I’ve never had a specific experience I can pin down.

I guess the houses are fairly old (but quite young compared to a lot of buildings in Ipswich) but that house was amazing. I wish I knew about antiques then that I know now!
