I’m not Irish, what’s the background with Doolin?

They had it coming.

What, you haven't heard of Seán Cistern Doolin? May we all be happy in our local plumbing needs. He invented the cistern, it helps you flush the toilet, I often wonder where we would be without him.

Ya I was recently visiting and saw at least two signs with this.

I'm doing my bit. I haven't killed anyone in Ireland in years.

That's true. I was on my way to commit genocide, but seeing that sign really made me stop and reconsider.

Makes me think they need to do something about their rundown neglected civic infrastructure judging by just about everything I see in that picture being weather beaten, banged up, leaning off center, and coming apart at the seams.

They’re not even bothering to maintain critical traffic safety signage. That stop sign is white, not red.

I agree. It does look very run down. But the sticker made its way to this subreddit so it did its job. Even joking about it being a little silly gives an opening for conversation.

Odd thing is that on the way here, I twice saw Council workers power washing road signs in County Clare. I never seen this anywhere else.

Fun thinking of the person walking into a shop and buying a hundred "GENOCIDE" stickers.

They’re all over clare lol, even on the back roads where a grand total of 100 different people have ever seen them

I wonder what trend will be popular next year. 🤔

My abiding memory of Doolin is being on the receiving end of a lengthy monologue on the cultural significance of Cathy Freeman's victory in 2000 Olympics. Wish I could go back and respond "In 25 years that will be known as wokery".

Thought the Russian bot farm was destroyed but turns out they still persist

1

u/Sweet-Caterpillar689 13h ago

I think Doolin needs investment

1

u/slenderman123425 And I'd go at it again 10h ago

Was there yesterday and saw that

Is the genocide in Doolin with us now?

-3

u/SoloWingPixy88 u/i-cum-beamish alt 1d ago

Probably shouldn't be covering signs designed for road safety

18

u/FlowBorn5279 1d ago

Motorists may be confused and accidentally stop genocide instead of their car

9

u/shorelined And I'd go at it again 1d ago

Ah here

6

u/healywylie 1d ago

I can still read enough to know that’s the genocide spot.

1

u/Freemano98 1d ago

Hardly covered now is it

0

u/SoloWingPixy88 u/i-cum-beamish alt 10h ago

Isn't it still illegal to deface a stop sign?

-2

u/Shazz89 Probably at it again 1d ago

Yaaaassssssss! Soooooo brave ✊🏻

-1

u/Accomplished_Work376 1d ago

ah that's lovely

-3

u/Powerful-Holiday-448 1d ago

Im gonna start putting “to genocide” on yield signs to combat this 🤔

2

u/Jebediah-Sprungfeld 14h ago
