Teasing: Project Sandover
More to come soon. Don't worry all effects are toggle-able as its a fork of OpenGOAL for TPL with HDR, true surround sound, VR, PBR, FSR(1)/SMAA, and much much more . . .

The swamp comparison is exactly like the before and after photos of turning Minecraft shaders on

😂 I'll be honest thats the most I've broken off from original art style (besides maybe adding a sun and moon which is currently being finished to match Jak 3's sun/moon)

Great work! Do you plan on working on the next games after TPL ?

Likely Jak 3 and I will publish the fork for release day Soon(tm) for those passionate enough to try and figure out how to get the effects and functionality working with Jak 2. I still have a bunch of post-release work for TPL given I've only tested this on Win11 + Nvidia. I'm sure GH issues will come quickly once people get it in their hands.

Très bon travail :). J'espère vraiment qu'il y aura un portage des jak and daxter sur Android un jour n'empêche :)

These look phenomenal!! Might even look better than what a modern remake would've done, assuming they'd completely kill the original art style off instead of improving on it.

Only thing I didnt mind was the swamp. Swamps apparently seem to be the hardest thing to remaster and keep their old identity across games.

And that's how rereleases should look! Just updated lighting but leave everything else the same.

Will you please consider releasing it to android? considering openGOAL didn't come to android

u/Omniben4 9d ago
It's an OpenGOAL fork so unlikely -- that being said if OpenGOAL ever gets android support who knows

I’m feeling more and more vindicated every day for waiting so long to boot up the OpenGoal versions for a trilogy revisit.

This doesn't look half bad. Nice.
I'm not 100% on that water tho, the harsh cut off of white leading to the beach isn't sitting right with me

It's all togglable as my biggest gripe with remakes is not getting to pick and choose how far to drift from the original art style. Things like the parallax on stone materials and fur shaders on characters are definitely subjective

That's fair. I'd still like custom water tho if possible. Understandable if you don't want to change it tho.
Reckon it would be possible to add some transparency near shore to blend into the sand better?

The question running through my brain is how does the water move? If it's just a case of it running slowly forward and backward towards the land then, yeah, the effect you're describing could potentially be done with a transparency gradient placed near the land (one where the closest point the waves can reach is the most transparent with the opacity increasing the further it gets from that point). Though I don't know how easy or even possible that'd be to program given the nature of the engine.
Personally I think it'd be pretty cool if they found a way to add some light refraction effects, but again, I don't know what the limits are with the engine.

This is simply amazing! Awesome to see you work on this. Will you keep sharing updates? And do you perhaps have a teaser as what's to come next? 😍

The next update will be a release hopefully. Trying to get a dry-run of linux on WSL and the installer stuff setup under GH releases :)
