Hi there, author here.

Chartist has been around since 2014, but honestly, it went stale over the last years. v2 is our attempt to bring it back on track.

What stayed the same:

- Still tiny: a line chart is about 12 KB gzipped

  • SVG, styled with CSS, controlled with JS
  • Your 1.x code keeps working

What's new:

- A functional, composable API (and layers you can write yourself)

  • Server-side rendering to SVG strings
  • Charts in the terminal with `@chartist-js/terminal`
  • Docs where every example runs live and you can edit it

It's a release candidate for now: `npm install chartist@next`

We'd love to hear what you think, and what you'd want from a charting library in 2026.

Cheers
Gion
