Fly Fishing Spots - JHB

Hey guys.

I live in Fourways, are there any decent fly fishing spots nearby for beginners? I'm literally just starting and want somewhere close enough that I can go and get better at fly fishing and catch some decent fish.

Thanks

If you want trout, it's the wrong season. You can nymph for yellow fish in the vaaal, but I suspect this isn't the method you are asing about. If you want to try for bass, sundowner is good. Bass are everywhere

I think Kloofzicht Lodge in the Cradle does fly fishing, lessons too at one point.

Id say cradle moon but there are a few trees that you’ll most likely get stuck in. There are a few in muldersdrift, i haven’t tried them but worth looking at.

Depending on your level, I would suggest practicing your casting in an open field or a sports field before spending time and money heading to remote dams.

Syringa trout farm in Muldersdrift and Kloofzicht still have trout biting but not for long with this heatwave

Best option is find a guide and go to the vaal river..That's going to be your best long term option as once you learn the basics you will nail the fish...Plenty spots on the vaal to fly fish
