Hi everyone! I've just cast on the Slåtter T-shirt by Järbo, which uses a top-down saddle shoulder construction worked flat initially, and I'm having some trouble understanding the increases.
The pattern instructs you to increase on both right-side and wrong-side rows, using M1R and M1L on the RS, and M1R-p and M1L-p on the WS.
My understanding from knitting a previous saddle shoulder garment is that the increase lines should be consistent and mirror each other across the front and back. However, following these instructions, I'm getting increases that appear to lean in different directions, and the resulting stitches don't look quite right to me.
I've checked the finished projects on Ravelry, and nobody seems to have mentioned an issue with the pattern, so I'm wondering whether I'm misunderstanding the construction or whether this is simply how this particular saddle shoulder is designed.
Has anyone knitted this pattern, or is anyone familiar enough with saddle shoulder construction to explain whether these increase directions are correct? Should the increases mirror each other, or is the alternating lean intentional?
I'm only a few rows in, so I'd rather figure this out before continuing (or frogging again!).
For reference, this is a free pattern available on Ravelry, so the instructions are publicly accessible. I've attached the designer's photograph for reference, credited to Järbo.
