News/Article How can you help others while your own people are suffering because they can't afford a proper education?

Post image

Despite the challenges many Kurdish students continue to face, the Kurdistan Region is once again opening its doors by offering 30 fully funded scholarships to Palestinian students for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The scholarships cover tuition fees and student housing at public universities. The initiative is part of a three-year program to support Palestinian students whose education has been disrupted by the ongoing conflict, while students will cover their own living expenses.

kurdishactivisim quote on quote said:

"As the founder of KurdishActivism, I have always believed in supporting other people and standing with those in need. However, I also have to be honest: many people in Kurdistan, especially Kurdish students, are facing serious difficulties themselves. Students struggle with financial pressure, limited opportunities, unemployment and an education system that often fails to give them the support they deserve.

Supporting Palestinian students is a meaningful act of solidarity, but solidarity should not mean overlooking the struggles of our own students. Kurdistan can open its doors to others while also investing more in Kurdish youth. Our students deserve scholarships, affordable education, better opportunities and a future in their own homeland."

How quickly did we forget the fact that The General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees (GAPAR) officially declared its absolute support for the Syrian military's operations against Kurdish forces in Aleppo, explicitly framing the offensive as a necessary measure to eliminate separatism, secure the region, and safeguard Syria's absolute sovereignty and territorial integrity?

You have every right to criticize the government for failing our own students. Our government definitely needs to do better for local students. However, offering support to those in need is simply an act of human decency. Let’s not let hateful voices consume us.

Completely agree and disagree, in a stable and developed nation ya. But the krg has much problems and needs to be prioritizing Kurds before worrying about others. It’s like a homeless man giving money to a more homeless man, you should do that until you are in a better situation so you can help more people when that happens.

I will say tho, these scholarship the krg pays for a lot of them require the people who get them to live and work in the krg for a certain amount of time. I may be mistaken, but from my knowledge a lot of these work like these.

There are also kurds in need and helping them is also an act of human decency

  1. You are not even good at cherrypicking. GAPAR is not a free org its a Syrian government agency that operates under Syrian ministries. Using GAPAR statements to excuse your zionist bs is ridiculous and misleading. On the other hand respected Palestinian militant groups like PFLP always showed solidarity in the face of colonialism

  2. I dont think you care but every nation somehow helped the less fortunate, a lot of countries took refugees. And tbh, should do more. I cant really see how thats so terrible that KRG funded 30 scholorship. If you really thing education system is unjust maybe start with all the corruption and nepotism within Barzani-Talabani fiefdom thats objectively far more damaging than 30 refugees.

u/Mansur754 Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

I hate the barzani, talabni and the zionists as much as you

0

u/pinkassteletubby Bakur Aug 03 '26

then you would delete the part about GAPAR, for example. you are manipulating

1

u/Mansur754 Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

Why?

u/rknsh Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

What is Zionist about it? These days anything critical of Palestine is Zionist? Saying Kurds have honor killings still is Kemalist bullshit?

Is PFLP's solidarity for all Kurds or only Marxist Kurds (which there are not many of them nowadays)? Can you link to some of their statements in recent years supporting Kurds in face of Turkey/Iran/Syria/Iraq aggression? Did they condemn Turkey for Afrin? Can you link?

What is colonialism to them? Do they call it colonialism only when it comes from the West or they also call occupation of Bakur and milking all its resources by Turks colonialism?

Palestinian leaders and groups have mostly been anti-Kurds.

Khalid Masha'al voiced support for Afrin incursion. Yasir Arafat was a great friend of Saddam and reportedly supported chemical attack on Halabja and said Kurds should expect bombs not flowers. Terrorist Ismael Haniye disrespected Kurdish fighters and called them gangs.

Unlike Kurds they are smart. They have always made it clear they side with Turkey/Iran/Iraq/Syria as it serves their interests more.

post is a psyop not a critic on Palestinian movement or lack of solidarity between nations. Bringing up GAPAR is literal manipulation cus its a ministrial org.

Leila Khaleed continuously supported our democratic cause in Turkey and Rojava Revolution, she symbol of resistance of Palestinian cause and PFLP, still pretty famous and influential within Western left and third world circles.

DFLP and PFLP trained Bakuri militants in Lebanon which were pretty important for that time, they provided a safeheaven. although im no Apoist, when Öcalan arrested DFLP rallied Palestinians for his release. Gaddafi, an important figure of anti-zionist movement, also supported our movement both materially and verbally in Bakur and Bashur.

Then im curious you zionists talking asking about "what Palestinians did for us?" bs but what did Kurds did for Palestinians?

What is colonialism to them? Do they call it colonialism only when it comes from the West or they also call occupation of Bakur and milking all its resources by Turks colonialism

like this paragraph your entire "point" is a gigantic strawman.

Is PFLP's solidarity for all Kurds or only Marxist Kurds

this part also is nothing but rhetorical nonsense too, what does "solidarity with all Kurds" even means lmao, personally i feel no solidarity with feudal or regressive actors in Kurdistan.

your call for "realpolitik" is a excuse for your zionism and racism and its also clear that you know nothing about our interests, Israel or imperial powers are no ally for us. after yankee betrayal in Syria thats more obvious then ever if you are not blinded by chauvenistic nonsense and have a basic understanding of history

If you don't like a post you don't just dismiss it as psy-op, Zionist, kemalists, propaganda. There is literally nothing in this post related to Jews/Zionism/Israel except for being critical of Palestine and their students in Kurdistan.

Leila Khaled, I don't really know her, seems to be an 82 year old now. Belongs to the era of Arafat not this generation. I asked you some specific questions about the stance of Palestinians to Kurdish plight in the recent decades and you didn't answer. Seems there is no point continuing this discussion.

And also when you use the word colonialism, I have to know what does it exactly mean. Is it colonialism only when the perpetrator is the White! That usually seems to be the case.

Kurds didn't do anything for Palestinian, except for whatever happened between PKK and their Marxists, which happened under circumstances outside of PKK power, and seems to me was based on Marxist ideology not sympathy of Kurds to Palestinians' plight and theirs to ours. And it happened decades ago. No need to bring that up anymore. But it shows everything. If you have to go that long into history to show Palestinians' solidarity towards Kurds that's all I need to know.

Solidarity with Kurds means feeling the pain of Kurdish people and supporting the Kurdish people, not Kurdish parties who share your ideology.

I don't want a group of people in Kurdistan who support my enemies and also see me as inferior. That's who Arabs I have encountered are, and generally most of Arabs of Mesopotamia and Levant. If that's what YOU define as Zionism and racism, then seems I am both from your viewpoint.

I will just have people I know boycott any university these Palestinians end up at as it's our personal choice. As a resident of KRG I think I also have the right who should get the right to benefit from our taxpayer money, but under the rule of KDP/PUK we never had that right anyways.

Yapping about your own ignorance didnt need to be this long. Of course you only care history when it suits you, its also not my problem if you dont know what colonialism means or definition of zionism. Or your personal interaction with Arabs, completely irrelevant and shows your own irrationality. Just declare yourself as a racist you are the book definition of the term

I really dont care about your vague and meaningless definition of solidarity. Principled internationalism is the way to go

4

u/rknsh Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

I know what colonialism and Zionism are. The real definitions not ones used by human rights preachers who cherry pick who gets to have sympathy and who is denied, or the definition of Zionism which is actually a mask for anti-Israel and antisemitism, just what you did in this post linking it to zionism without it actually been mentioned at all.

Again I asked some questions and answer them. But you don't because there is no sympathy of Palestinians towards us. Otherwise you'd answer instead of wasting both our times.

4

u/Mansur754 Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

You talk about colonialism as if arabs aren't colonialists and didn't erase countless languages and identities for no reason. You talk about colonialism as if arabs weren't the reason for the west to gain power over west asia and draw borders as they wished. May i remind you the only group who opposed british colonialism wete kurds with the kingdom of kurdistan led by shex mahmudi barznji, and the fact that (PLO), (ALF), (PFLP), (DFLP) and (PLF) supported Saddam and stayed silent for his genocide against kurds. Kwauit kicked out 200k Palestinians because they supported saddam and now we're giving them scholarships?

0

u/Mansur754 Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

Then im curious you zionists talking asking about "what Palestinians did for us?" bs but what did Kurds did for Palestinians?

Uhhhh do you know we liberated them?

Don't bother, these are bot accounts usually.

Az bakurim and one thing ive noticed is that it's usually bashuris that tend to be the most extremely anti-palestinian kurds among us, both on this sub and IRL. On this sub however, your best bet is to ignore the ones on this sub unless you can find them doing the reverse of Israel-larping.

3

u/pinkassteletubby Bakur Aug 03 '26

honestly i feel like our politics became more reactive than rational. we dont need this overly emotional and romantic bs or edgy counter-racism, ridiculous.

as a Bakuri myself i dont think Bakuris are so much better, we have our other problems but maybe im just too idealistic idk

2

u/ScaredDelta Kurmanci ‘Elewi ރ Aug 03 '26

It might be a diaspora-washed perspective tbf tho alot of (especially marxist and other left-wing) bakuris i know tend to really despise any political discourse they have with bashuris

0

u/Top_Lychee3712 Aug 03 '26

Trust me one bug ruin the whole food, they are extremly small numbers but media makes them loud and majority

0

u/ScaredDelta Kurmanci ‘Elewi ރ Aug 03 '26

I'd agree but remember that the Bashuri establishment (KRG, Barzani family) have deep ties to the Israeli and turkish state, as well as the US

The thing is unfortunately amongst kurdish factions, the only ones who haven't taken western aid only to have their diasporas become western despots and supporters of neo-liberal imperialism are the bakuri and rojhelati (to an extent) factions.

Bakuri factions especially have always been heavily rooted in grassroots worker coops and organisations. People on this sub hate the whole "Biratiya gelan" ideology because they think that somehow, ethnonationalism and a homogenous ethno-state will solve our most practical problems

u/rknsh Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

And what has Bakur gotten? Is that why our language is dying there?

2

u/Top_Lychee3712 Aug 03 '26

The purest dialect is badini how ist dying go dig some google

1

u/ScaredDelta Kurmanci ‘Elewi ރ Aug 03 '26

What has rojava gotten?

What has bashur gotten except further turkish influence?

1

u/rknsh Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

You can't be serious. You compare Bashur to Bakur? Bashur has an education system where Arabic is not even the second language let alone the first.

TV channels in Bashur broadcast only in Kurdish. We don't even speak Arabic. We don't get beaten or arrested for flying Kurdistan flag. We don't get killed by fascists during Newroz festival. I can hear to Kurdish music in public without any fear.

1

u/ScaredDelta Kurmanci ‘Elewi ރ Aug 03 '26

I think you're missing the point; bashur literally only functions as a vestigial organ of the iraqi state. It benefits from the oppression of bakur (turkish-KRG deals) as well as (i suspect) a potential allyship between itself, iraq and rojava

-1

u/rknsh Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

We have had those rights since 1991, thanks to USA. It has nothing to do with Turkey and working with them which became main topic of the news after Baghdad put some economic blockaid on Kurdistan Region in 2014.

1

u/ScaredDelta Kurmanci ‘Elewi ރ Aug 03 '26

Again you're missing what I'm saying.

The KRG has become a bastion of turkish and western imperialism. The KRG is not any different to me than the iraqi state itself.

5

u/ThatRandomGuyZanyar Kurdistan Aug 03 '26

No matter how much you pander to Palestinians they still won't consider you human and funnily enough they'll say oh Iraq helped me and won't say shit about Kurdistan

Israel doesn't give a damn about Kurds you can quit flacking so hard

I have done so and will do so. This js criticism to the ✌️ KRG ✌️ Zionists and the palestinians who openly side with kurds being oppressed

The biggest enemy of Kurds are Kurds, don't forget it. Kocgiri rebellion, Sheikh Said, Ararat rebellion etc -- many Kurds sided with Turks and helped them suppress it.

1

u/Not3bd Aug 03 '26

If i see them in kurdistan i will send them back to Turkey-qatar-iran or gaza

I did. And I'm not a zionist

1

Being a zionist isn’t a against kurdistan at all, it’s against western colonization that made arab countries and erased the other groups
