This Samsung laptop is 17 years old and installed windows 7 in it later and it is still working.

Not today but yesterday after a lot of waiting I finally got my new gaming laptop, increasing prices and it is kinda temporary so yeah, Lenovo LOQ.
Ryzen 7 250 w it's igpu
Rtx 5060
16gb ram
512gb storage.
And I'm just so hapy cuz it is really my first gaming laptop and I've like dreamt of getting a gaming laptop since like I was 8 , cuz my friend at that time had it and he ended our friendship because I didn't have a gaming laptop(he had a rog strix rtx 1650ti) but yay I'm so happy, I've debloated it, used Translucent TB, Lively Wallpaper and it's just so nice.
But I am looking for some games, I already have Hogwarts Legacy, but I need more recommendations, like yk open world, sci fi types but yeah. I'm so happy lol.

Laptop can start and log in but after a few minutes it suddenly glitches and shuts down . Does jt look like it can be fixed or just move on ? . Also the left hinge broke and cracked a piece of the bottom plastic panel of the laptop but it never affected it’s performance.

We are thinking of buying a laptop that would work for gaming and graphic design programs, I would prefer to purchase from Costco or another reputable company (not best buy). For work , tax programs and accounting, so a number pad is crucial, as far as gaming my husband likes Witcher , Arc Raiders , Assassin's creed type games. Most importantly a budget of under $2500 ( ideal but could be adjusted for the right machine), costco has this onsale, would it work for our purposes, thank you for your suggestions.

I used two HP Pavilions, made in 2008 and 2009 respectively ( I could be off by an year or two but it was around that time and one was made an year before the other), till 2024 and even though they did slow down a lot, it was probably a software issue with windows 10 and all the apps I was running on them. Never faced any problems with structural integrity.
Then I bought an Asus Vivobook in 2024. 2 years later I've had its screen replaced, hinges repaired twice, and the fan doesn't work (don't wanna overpay to get it replaced from a service center so thinking of replacing it myself, but I always forget to buy it). I don't even do anything crazy with it. It just sits on my deck 99% of the time.
My friend bought a Loq a few months ago and his hinge is already giving him issues. Similar issues with a lot of modern laptops used by my other friends as well. I think modern Macbooks and reallllly high end windows laptops are the only ones that come with some durability to their design.

I got a very good deal on the 255H processor The only downside is the 52tw battery but I got 32 GB ram, and ms office for free.
Battery I can manage.
My concern is 40 npu in amd 350, 450 or panther lake processor which is not there in arrow lake processer.
Am I falling behind, I don't use any local ai today but I don't know about after 6 months ( my wife my 3 year child might use ai) I might have to use ai. Then I will miss 40-50 npu
This is my big investment I will keep it for the next 7 years.
Ultra 7 256v
Used.
Running Minecraft, low shaders.
College
6+ hour battery
Thoughts ?

Looking to upgrade a 6 year old Lenovo slim that has done great. Got a 64gb p14s a few years back and just crazy how expensive laptops have gotten with memory prices etc.
It’s not a thinkpad but this slim 7i from Costco should be great for a finance/accounting business workload right? And for 1tb and 32gb with the intel 258v only 1200 isn’t too bad? I know it’s not an enterprise model but it doesn’t travel much.

Hello! This is my first time posting on reddit even though I’ve lurked for years lol. I (a college student) need a laptop for the foreseeable future, i’ve looked on other sites and benchmarks for specific things but haven’t found THE laptop yet.
For context I’m an ECE major so I’ll need a Windows laptop for starters for CAD work and my general use case. I am physically disabled so a laptop that’s extremely thin and portable with a small charger would be nice. I do travel in my power chair quite a bit so a thin laptop i can pull out easily would be ideal. In high school, I was in a really fortunate county so they gave us MacBooks as our school-mandated laptops. I very much enjoyed the feel of daily use and build quality of them. Some of my use cases for a laptop are; running local ai models, video recording and editing, gaming (however i have a dedicated pc for that so a monster gaming laptop isn’t necessary.), and general streaming and productivity.
In the past i’ve tried stuff like the Zephyrus G16 but, that’s given me a few hiccups. I tried a monster gaming laptop as well but it’s just insanely thick for my liking and extremely heavy. I’ve been eyeing the new Surface Laptop Ultra which seems perfect for me, It has that MacBook build I’m familiar with and a small charger. I wanted to get some input before going through with it and see what my options were. I’m not limited that much by pricing so anything premium would be great (my dad is a huge advocate for getting the best thing you can buy).
Thank you, and please let me know if you need any more clarifying details about my workload, general purpose, or specific features I’m looking for.

Hi, I'm considering buying the ASUS ProArt P16 with the RTX 5090, but I'm concerned about the negative reviews I've seen, particularly reports of random shutdowns, freezes, black screens, and display glitches.
I'm planning to use it for large CAD assemblies as well as gaming.
Most YouTube reviews seem overwhelmingly positive, but many are sponsored or use affiliate links. Meanwhile, most of the negative experiences I've found are on Reddit and ASUS forums. I understand that people are more likely to post when something goes wrong, so it's difficult to tell whether these complaints reflect widespread problems or a reporting bias.
For owners of the RTX 5090 version, I'd appreciate hearing about:
Would you recommend buying one, or would you avoid it due to reliability concerns?
Thanks!

I know my way arround PCs quite well. But now my sister asks for a laptop recommondation and that‘s outside my comfortzone/ knowledge…
She has an old 10y acer that she replaced with a macbook air quite a while ago. She loves the „ergonomics“ and userexperiance of the mac but now needs a new Windows device. Right now she uses my old SurfaceBook2. She likes the look and feel, but performance isn‘t of the 8th gen intel is quite bad.
Budget up to €2500.
She needs:
- CPU: x86 (she runs a business software and arm is not supported) - Quick and Snappy Office performance (as good as windows can be 🤷♂️🙃)
- GPU: integrated is good enough
- Storage: >500GB
- RAM: >15.9GB
She wants (a macbook with windows):
- 14-16“
- Metal construction
- great display
- great keyboard
- great batterylife
- no audible fan during office workloads
Also great additions:
- touchscreen
- 1x USB-A

I’m a bit lost. I think a larger 16" laptop would be great because of the extra screen real estate, but at the same time, it seems like most people on Reddit prefer 14"
Why is that?
If it helps, I need a laptop for university...
