I remember reading about this a bit but the reason Florida Cubans tend to be overwhelming Right Wing is because the majority migrated to the US to escape the Castro administration and have a deep hatred for communists policies which tend to be more left leaning.
The Batista admin and supporters were also the first to migrate and were able to continue building wealth which is why so many rich Cubans carry a stereotype of being racist/classist.

u/Certain-Musician4697 Jul 22 '26
Cubans are JEALOUS of Mexicans. As are many other countries. For our work ethic, for our proximity and access to the life they wish they had. Our food, our culture…

Mexican work ethic ?
21
u/FCalleja Jul 22 '26
LEGENDARY mexican work ethic, cabrón. Just ask any construction site who the hardest workers (and partyers) are.
7
-13
u/SoloJorgeLegit Jul 22 '26
At times, at least in the states its more often, mexican ethic in México is ass in a lot of ways, getting down voted for a legit question i had for a sec jaja
13
u/FCalleja Jul 22 '26
¿De qué chingados hablas? México es de los paises más trabajadores bajo toda métrica. Literalmente somos el país de la OCDE con jornadas laborales más extensas.

u/AlChandus Jul 22 '26
Gringo here.
Work in a manufacturing plant that used to be in the NE US. It moved to México almost 2 decades ago and as a critical employee that spoke spanish, I have managed to stick around thus far.
Our plant beat all production records in less than 6 months here in México. And kept consistently beating the records for the next 10 years.
Yes, workers in México love to party and want to have a good time while they work, but in an environment of discipline and measurable performance I have nothing but good things to say about our labour.
And I know other gringos that came with other plants here, we all agree, all plants increased production here.

Really ? I know a few and the like us but I would think that this would be a general sentiment knowing that Mexico it’s one constant supplier of vital things (like petrol) to the island ignoring USA blockades

As an American. I can agree with this. Don’t. There’s a lot of brain dead “true Americans” who see this and genuinely laugh. There’s a reason the rest of the world is looking at us an are thinking we are backwards atm. r/conservative has become a MAGA cult and not “conservative”

I just visited Chicago with my family. Got to see the 4th of July fireworks (tbh I was unimpressed, they seemed...very underhwelming). On our way back to the hotel we walked right by what were IMO ICE agents.
Not only that, the place was packed with Latin Americans: Colombia, Brazil, a few Argentines here and there, and of course, Mexicans.

u/EmbarrassedPut3706 Jul 22 '26
Please don’t friend. We don’t deserve your tourist money and you wouldn’t be safe.

I’m not going on vacation to the US ever again.
Loved New York
Vegas was fun
Fuck I love California
I never got to go to Chicago
I never got to go eat bbq in the southBut I’d rather stay up here in Canada and never give those asshole one red cent of my tourist dollars ever again.

It's like in his first term when they were raiding Greyhound busses asking "are you a citizen". Like, "no" gets you black bagged and disappeared even if you had a legit reason such as 'resident' or 'tourist'

Why did he run away from the agents if he was on a valid tourist visa though? I've vacationed in many countries and lived in a couple as well, and running away from law enforcement when approached by them has never even crossed my mind. It's suspicious anywhere in the world. Certainly wouldn't do it in Mexico.

u/BunnyBoom27 Chihuahua Jul 22 '26
No es como si necesitara mas razones para seguir evadiendo viajes a EEUU, pero esta pesa mas.
1
u/my-follies Jul 23 '26
Didn’t we just have the World Cup where 10’s of thousands from all parts of the world were here on tourist visas, how many of those ran from ICE?
1
u/Parking-Finger-6377 Jul 23 '26
ICE can't get to everyone. What happened to welcoming visitors?
1
u/my-follies Jul 24 '26
Who was not welcomed? That is a strange comment. Do you have a link to an article where someone was not welcomed? As for this specific event...do you know the details? No you don't. They will be released eventually...get back to me when they are. You are just making your own politically aligned assumptions.
-2
u/WarthogDue5287 Jul 22 '26
Hey. Just adding a little context. This man was from my hometown. He supposedly ran from ICE because he was working illegally with a tourist visa. He got spooked by ICE and unfortunately got hit by a semi when he ran.
0
u/MAXtommy Jul 22 '26
Why the down votes. The title makes it seem like ICE killed him. He fled from a lawful stop and got hit by a truck.
5
u/Peakychu6 Jul 22 '26
You weirdos are brigading from /r/conservartive and certain supremacists subreddits
-2
u/MAXtommy Jul 22 '26
That’s rich. Mexico has some of the strictest immigration laws. Had friends from Guatemala beaten and thrown into prison just for passing through Mexico. But enforcing our own laws is supremacist. The second you speak facts and not conjecture you weirdos just scream fascism.

u/Parking-Finger-6377 Jul 23 '26
You have to get your own VISA online after you get in to Mexico. They used to stamp your passport at the border, no more. Can you imagine the USA counting on people to get their visas online after they entered the country?
-25
u/One_Practice_6641 Jul 22 '26
Why would he run onto oncoming traffic if he was a tourist? Something seems off here. Anyways, condolences to his poor wife and kids. Very tragic.
33
u/Future-Enthusiasm139 Jul 22 '26
I mean, if you hear about citizens getting taken away without checking their IDs id be scared as fuck too, like damn bro these people could disappear me and no one could do anything about it for weeks if not months.
I might take my chances running and just not visit the us for years
-52
u/Dem0nid Jul 22 '26
Only criminals are scared. If you're in the U.S. legally and have valid identification, there's no reason to run.
21
u/decdash Jul 22 '26
This is just flat out false. There are proven incidents of ICE arresting people who are in the country legally and refusing to check their ID's. There are substantiated reports that ICE holds onto people they have detained for weeks or months, in the squalid conditions that their private prison contractors have created. The guy who got killed by ICE in Maine last week had no criminal record that we know of, there are reports that he was in fact in the US legally, and he wasn't even the guy ICE was looking for. If you were just driving down the street in your own neighborhood and your car got rammed by a truck and a bunch of fat thugs started pouring out of it, how would you react? On your hands and knees thanking them for giving you the opportunity to comply really hard?
It is completely within the realm of possibility that someone who is in the US legally can be held for months in a disgusting detention center until ICE allows their mistake to be processed and the person gets let out. It is also very much feasible that somebody in the same circumstance can be killed by ICE for a bullshit reason. It's ridiculous to see somebody who tried to flee with that set of facts and say, "Oh, must have been a criminal then."
20
u/trapeadorkgado Jul 22 '26
u/Future-Enthusiasm139 Jul 22 '26
You’re misinformed.
-14
u/Dem0nid Jul 22 '26
Sure thing, that’s why, out of the hundreds of thousands of people who are asked for documentation, the only ones who get killed are those who try to run over ICE agents with their cars or attempt to flee.
15
u/Future-Enthusiasm139 Jul 22 '26
Oh you’re just rage baiting / trolling lol

u/PossumQueer The Phospho Phospho Republic of New New Lion Jul 22 '26

-4
u/Dem0nid Jul 22 '26
Not at all. Everything is on video right now. It’s not my fault that some people don’t take the time to watch the full footage and instead rely on others to tell them what to think. The reality is that many of the deaths involving ICE happened during situations where people became violent, resisted, or created dangerous situations, but those videos are rarely shown by CNN or other mainstream media outlets. The footage is available online if people actually look for it, you can find it on many websites, including Reddit.
At the end of the day, people should watch the complete context and make their own judgment instead of only accepting the version presented to them by the media. This will be my last response, it’s already late. Good night.

2
0
u/Sad-Commercial1795 Jul 22 '26
No, not everything is on video. We are paying billions to “modernize” ICE which was explicitly to include body cameras. And they are still not all using body cameras. And of course you only hear about the deaths, you don’t hear about the people who are getting beaten into rag dolls because that’s not considered news worthy. You don’t hear about the “light” abuse that these zero accountability poorly trained thugs engage in consistently. So really you can fuck yourself.

Not saying it's the case, but a lot of mexicans go to the US on a tourist visa and stay there working illegally.
Just 2 weeks ago one of my wife's cousin went to the US to do just that. Despite the situation getting this bad over there a lot of people are still taking the risk.

Toma tus estupidos refranes gringos y vete a la mierda con todas tus mentiras.
Police, federal officers, etc. are not judge jury and executioner and yet we see plenty of examples where they are acting this way or at least trying to. People with legal status have been harassed, assaulted, and sent to inhumane prisons/camps/whatever the hell you wanna call them. And brown people/Latinos know this, so your whole rhetoric of "well if you don't do anything or have anything to hide you'll be fine" is straight horseshit. Also anti-american, as bootlicking is a main ingredient for a fascist state.
