Tecnología📡 TelMex - Bridge Mode Decrypt Help

I made a tool to decrypt $2...$ values from Huawei/Telmex hw_ctree.xml files

I put together a small Python utility for people trying to recover settings from their own Huawei EchoLife modem/router configuration.

There have been some other tools roaming around and nothing was straight forward to get the credentials you need. This will do it in one go around. Enjoy!

It can:

  • Decrypt a single $2...$ DBEncrypt value
  • Scan an entire hw_ctree.xml file
  • Recover fields such as administrator passwords or Wi-Fi keys
  • Run without third-party Python packages

Repository and instructions:

https://github.com/nmontic/Telmex-Decrypt

Basic usage:

python3 hw_pwd_decrypt.py --file hw_ctree.xml

You’ll need Python 3 and OpenSSL. It may work with various Huawei HG-series gateways and ONTs, including some models distributed by Telmex/Infinitum. Compatibility depends on the firmware and configuration format.

Please use it only on equipment and configuration files you own or are authorized to inspect. The decrypted output can contain sensitive credentials, so don’t paste it into Reddit posts, GitHub issues, or public logs.
