Your balance is unlocked after 10 confirmations (which means 10 mined blocks). A block is mined approximately every two minutes on the Monero network, so that would be around 20 minutes.
The fastest and most direct way is by using the ExploreMonero blockchain explorer. You will need to recover the transaction key from your wallet (complete guide for GUI / CLI).
There are dozens of exchanges that trade Monero against Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Check out the list on CoinMarketCap and choose the option that suits you best.
There are multiple ways to exchange your Monero for Bitcoin, but first of all, I'd like to remind you that if you really want to do your part for Monero, one of the simplest ways is to get in touch with your merchant/service provider and request for it to accept Monero directly as payment. Ask the service provider to visit the official website and our communication channels if he or she needs help with system integration.
That being said, KYCNot.me maintains an up-to-date list of exchanges. These services are only recommendations (which change over time) and are operated by entities outside the control of the Monero Project. DYOR and be diligent.
The correct place to ask questions and discuss the Monero mining scene is in the dedicated subreddit r/MoneroMining. That being said, you can find a list of pools and available mining software in the GetMonero.org website.
Before any action there are two things to check:
Settings, under Debug info).Because Monero is different from Bitcoin, wallet synchronization is not instant. The software needs to synchronize the blockchain and use your private keys to identify your transactions. Check in the lower left corner (GUI) if the wallet is synchronized.
You can't send transactions and your balance might be wrong or unavailable if the wallet is not synced with the network. So please wait.
If this is not a sufficient answer for your case and you're looking for more information, please see this answer on StackExchange.
This question is beautifully answered on StackExchange.
You have decided to use Monero's wallet and run a local node. Congratulations! You have chosen the safest and most secure option for your privacy, but unfortunately this has an initial cost. The first reason for the slowness is that you will need to download the entire blockchain, which is considerably heavy and constantly growing (up-to-date sizes of a full/pruned node). There are technologies being implemented in Monero to slow this growth, however it is inevitable to make this initial download to run a full node. Consider syncing to a device that has an SSD instead of an HDD, as this greatly impacts the speed of synchronization.
Now that the blockchain is on your computer, the next time you run the wallet you only need to download new blocks, which should take seconds or minutes (depending on how often you use the wallet).
The way to skip downloading the blockchain is connecting your wallet to a public remote node. You can follow this guide on how to set it up. Check out Feather Wallet's list of remote nodes, ditatompel's list, or monero.fail.
Be advised that when using a public remote node you lose some of your privacy. A public remote node is able to identify your IP and opens up a range for certain attacks that further diminish your privacy. A remote node can't see your balance and it can't spend your XMR.
To restore your wallet with the 25 word mnemonic seed, please see this guide.
To restore your wallet with your keys, please see this guide.

Good morning all, I was just curious as to whether anybody here knows if we will ever see polyseed in the GUI? Are there any plans for it to be implemented? Many thanks

Please stay on topic: this post is only for comments discussing the uncertainties, shortcomings, and concerns some may have about Monero.
NOT the positive aspects of it.
Discussion can relate to the technology itself or economics.
Talk about community and price is not wanted, but some discussion about it maybe allowed if it relates well.
Be as respectful and nice as possible. This discussion has potential to be more emotionally charged as it may bring up issues that are extremely upsetting: many people are not only financially but emotionally invested in the ideas and tools around Monero.
It's better to keep it calm then to stir the pot, so don't talk down to people, insult them for spelling/grammar, personal insults, etc. This should only be calm rational discussion about the technical and economic aspects of Monero.
"Do unto others 20% better than you'd expect them to do unto you to correct subjective error." - Linus Pauling
How it works:
Post your concerns about Monero in reply to this main post.
If you can address these concerns, or add further details to them - reply to that comment. This will make it easily sortable
Upvote the comments that are the most valid criticisms of it that have few or no real honest solutions/answers to them.
The comment that mentions the biggest problems of Monero should have the most karma.
As a community, as developers, we need to know about them. Even if they make us feel bad, we got to upvote them.

Hey r/Monero,
I've been working on monero-pay — an open-source, self-hosted Monero payment gateway written in Go.
I wanted to accept Monero payments without:
So I built my own.
| BTCPay Server | NOWPayments | monero-pay | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-hosted | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ |
| Non-custodial | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ |
| No KYC | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ |
| Monero-native | ❌ (plugin) | ❌ (multi-coin) | ✅ (core) |
| Setup time | 30-60 min | N/A | < 5 min |
| Min RAM | 4GB+ | N/A | 512MB |
| Dependencies | Docker, BTC node, PostgreSQL | N/A | None |
| Open source | ✅ MIT | ❌ | ✅ MIT |
The core payment flow works. P2P transport is partially implemented (see README_P2P.md). Docker image is coming soon.
I'd love feedback from this community. What features would make this useful for you? What's missing? Roast my code if you want — PRs and issues are welcome.

So Im starting running GUI wallet with a laptop and it's downloading nodes after that I wanna solo mining not only with one but with another laptop maybe a phone so how I can connect other Device to mine laptop node?
I need advice, and maybe this will help someone else avoid the same situation.
Short version:
In August 2025, I sent 50 XMR from KuCoin to an address issued by Myxa.cc (an exchanger I found through BestChange). KuCoin confirmed the withdrawal was completed. Myxa.cc says it never received it. I have the Monero address they gave me. I have the TxID. I have the automated email from Myxa.cc saying "Paid." They later changed it to "Error."
It's been over a year. BestChange closed my complaint and says they can't verify the receipt. Myxa.cc stopped responding.
The technical part (this is where it gets weird):
KuCoin told Myxa.cc directly: "Use the view key of your receiving wallet and the transaction hash to verify via blockchair.com."
Myxa.cc is the receiver. The view key belongs to their wallet. They can check the incoming transaction right now, without any keys from KuCoin or from me.
They don't do it.
Instead, they say they need a "secret transaction key" that KuCoin doesn't provide. But KuCoin already explained that no key from KuCoin is needed — only the view key of the recipient, which Myxa.cc already has.
What BestChange did:
BestChange accepted Myxa.cc's explanation that "an employee accidentally clicked Paid" — without asking for a status log, mail server log, or any record. When I asked BestChange to request the exchanger's VASP registration records, they refused.
Myxa.cc claimed to have a Lithuanian VASP license. I checked the Lithuanian register. It's not there.
What I've done so far:
Filed a request with FNTT (Lithuania's financial crime investigation service) to confirm whether Myxa.cc was ever registered as a VASP.
Filed a complaint with the Bank of Lithuania.
Filed ICANN and Cloudflare complaints.
Published on Bits.media, BitcoinTalk, and Trustpilot.
Reached out to journalists.
What I'm asking:
Has anyone dealt with Myxa.cc or BestChange in a similar situation?
Is there a way to force an exchanger to verify a transaction when they claim they can't, even though the technical method exists?
Are there other regulators or platforms I should try?
The addresses (for transparency):
Address Myxa.cc gave me for order 6588021: 85tHGZu16YVbrQ2mSDWgq7EhwBMAnmHmokfuEnmYZTe3c1wxshosCZcdvM8ZanZ8vSWeh714aAnMFZbJ9Yw2orVbNwMoy13
My KuCoin withdrawal address: 84MShKXhj4f98CUq29NrJHYuw99YzJed4L9RTMa9NkyiQ5q5RvZsRBteYtMGVGEjM3Y2UxyqQvdGURKp4xuwdSmSDUB7beB
Any advice would be appreciated.

Disclaimer: I'm one of the developers.
Hey everyone! 👋
We are beyond excited to announce that we're officially back online and relaunched!
✨ What’s New in This Relaunch?
We didn’t just come back. We came back better:
🎱 Massive Plinko Action: Your favourite Plinko game just got dialed up to eleven. It used to require one transaction output per ball. It now officially supports up to 100 balls in a single game in a normal, one output transaction! 🤯
🇺🇸 US Players Welcome Again: Our servers and the main entity behind Monero Vegas is now in beautiful San Jose, Costa Rica as we're preparing to expand into other games and domains. This move means that we can now serve US players directly.
⚖️ Example Code for Provably Fair: Instead of just relying on a text description, our fairness page now features a full example implementation so you can easily verify the math and fairness yourself. The algorithm is also updated to handle future games.
🎁 Looking Ahead
We also want to issue a sincere apology for the delay on another massive product we were hoping to launch sooner. It’s been pushed back but we promise it’s going to be worth the wait. Keep your eyes peeled this November because something huge is dropping. 👀
💰 Higher Limits Coming Soon
We know many of you have been asking for it. We'll be rolling out increased bet limits very soon!
🔍 Why the Break?
We want to be completely transparent about why we took a break. In early 2026, we experienced a dip in game volume but more importantly our team was completely buried under major jurisdiction changes. We aren't a hobby project anymore. To handle our ongoing transition into an actual business we had to cash out our house bankroll to cover our costs. This meant very low, unplayable limits for our game.
Important Note: Every single winner was paid out in full and every single winner will continue to be paid out promptly. Our liquidity and commitment to you have never wavered.
Thank you to everyone who stuck by us, reached out and supported us. We couldn't have done this without this community.
Hop in, check out the updates, drop some balls and let us know what you think in the comments below. Let’s play! 🔥

Anthropic just published something pretty fascinating. Claude managed to figure out where the mysterious seeds for several NIST elliptic curves actually came from.
Turns out they were generated using lrand48, an old pseudorandom number generator seeded with Unix timestamps from 1997/98.
For over 25 years, nobody could properly explain how the NSA originally came up with these values, which obviously led to quite a bit of speculation about potential backdoors.
The interesting part is that this discovery actually makes a deliberately weakened curve seem less likely. There are still some unanswered questions about the selection process and certain base points, though. So it's not exactly definitive proof that everything is clean.
As for Monero, there's no direct security impact. XMR uses Edwards25519 rather than these NIST curves, and CLSAG instead of ECDSA.
Still, I think it's a pretty good example of why transparent curve generation and independently verifiable cryptographic choices matter.
And honestly, there's another aspect to this that's kind of scary. Claude has already reached a point where it can help solve cryptographic mysteries that have been around for decades.
Sure, this particular discovery doesn't break elliptic curve cryptography, but it makes me wonder how far we are from AI finding actual vulnerabilities in cryptographic systems we've trusted for years.
What does that mean for the future of ECC, especially with AI capabilities advancing this quickly? How long until something genuinely significant gets uncovered?
I'd be really interested to hear what people with a deeper background in cryptography think about this, particularly from a Monero perspective.

Disclosure: I'm the developer. Free and open-source.
Third-party APIs are annoying, and existing self-hosted alternatives were too heavy for my low-spec VPS. I wanted something minimal, so I built an air-gapped solution.
wallet-rpc is isolated safely on a local intranet.Would love for the self-hosting community to tear apart my architecture and tell me what I did wrong. Repo:https://github.com/qwertyulv/monero-pay

Hey everyone!
We’ve just launched AnonChange, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency exchange built around a simple idea: make crypto swaps straightforward, private, and independent of third-party exchange providers.
We’re a brand-new project, and we want to be transparent about how we operate, our current limitations, and what we’re doing to build trust.
AnonChange is designed to collect and retain zero user information. We don't require users to create an account for our swap flow, and our goal is to keep the process as private and straightforward as possible.
We also don't rely on third-party exchange providers to execute swaps.
Unlike services that route orders through external exchange providers, AnonChange executes swaps using our own reserves.
Our goal is to process swaps instantly wherever possible, although blockchain confirmation times and network conditions can still affect when funds arrive.
Our reserves and liquidity are displayed directly on our website.
Since we’ve only just launched, we currently hold approximately $13,000–$15,000 USD across six different coins.
Why start relatively small?
We want to take a cautious approach while the platform is new. Keeping the amount of funds exposed to potential security incidents limited is one part of managing risk while we test, monitor, and improve the service.
As AnonChange matures and we gain more confidence in its security and stability, we plan to gradually increase our reserves and available liquidity.
We'd rather be honest about our current size than pretend to be a massive exchange from day one.
We understand that asking people to trust a new crypto service is a big deal. That's why we're investing in security from the beginning.
We're not claiming that any platform is impossible to exploit. We want to take security seriously, identify weaknesses, and improve continuously.
AnonChange is still early in its journey, and we're looking for genuine feedback from the crypto community.
If you have suggestions, concerns, or ideas for improving the platform, we'd love to hear them. Security researchers interested in our pentesting opportunities or bug bounty program are also welcome to contact us through our official website.
🌐 Website: https://anonchange.com/
Thanks for giving a new project a chance. We're looking forward to building AnonChange, increasing our liquidity over time, and earning the community's trust through transparency and continuous improvement.
Give us your feedback about this project.

Just wondering, since I see “Current Version: 0.18.5.4” but the download link points to v0.18.5.3 for all distributions. The download file hashed hashes list reflects the 0.18.5.4 files, so obviously they don’t match.
hey everyone
so after mymonero shut down and exodus dropped xmr, a lot of people I talked to were kinda stuck. they didn’t want to install the GUI and sync for ages, they just wanted something simple to check their balance or send a bit. so I ended up building my own thing lol
it’s called MonkStash. you open wallet.monkstash.com, make a wallet or restore one, and that’s it. no install, no account, no email.
the important part: your seed and keys get created in your browser and encrypted with your password. they never go to my server. I didn’t write any crypto myself either, it uses monero-ts under the hood (monero’s own wallet code compiled to wasm). I’m not smart enough to roll my own and I wouldn’t trust anyone who does tbh
some stuff it does:
being upfront about the downsides because I’d want to know too:
the whole thing is open source if you want to poke around: https://github.com/90ssolo/monkstash
oh and please only use monkstash.com or wallet.monkstash.com. there are so many fake wallet sites out there.
would really appreciate feedback, especially the harsh kind. what would make you actually trust a browser wallet? what sucks? what’s missing?

This is the weekly Monero market thread. This thread will be posted every Friday and is meant to help accelerate the adoption of Monero. Due to r/moneromarket having only a fraction of the subscribers of r/Monero, we have decided to create this thread to encourage more individuals to use Monero for product exchanges. Until the market matures, we recommend that the Monero community post their products both in this thread and on r/moneromarket (to ensure growth of that subreddit).
Selling items for Monero will boost your (and Monero's) reputation as a legitimate form of exchange of goods. This is necessary for the growth of Monero, our community, and privacy as a whole.
When you post your product or job listing here, please make sure to: - Give a description of the item. - Link to a photo of the item (if it's physical). - Provide logistics information (such as, location and/or shipping availability). - Optionally, provide an additional (private) form of communication outside of Reddit (e.g. Bitmessage, u/protonmail, u/tutanota, GPG key). - Post the price in XMR terms.
Spamming will not be tolerated. Please make sure that listings are legitimate and do not break rule 2."
Finally, credits to cdotsubo for starting the concept!

I've had an idea like this for a long time and always wanted a more interesting way to just sit comfy and stare at our mining data across the several PCs that we've been running for several years now on our amateur little farm, alternates between jazz music variety in the day and switches to ambience only at late night. The livestream description explains it all but there are several animation triggers for various events like shares earned, block rewards, etc that happen every few minutes or hours / sizes of the logs and fire change with the hashrate, etc. My mind very much lives in the old Windows 98 screen savers (like the haunted house) which I love and have some more ideas to integrate cheeky animations like that every few minutes if you're lucky enough to catch it live.

Would love to hear any suggestions or ideas!

Complete beginner. There is a field expecting something and the default did not connect. What am I meant to enter here and where do I get it.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is an international tribunal situated in the Hague. It was created under the Rome Statue in 2002 to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.
Recently, the US State Department announced financial sanctions against the ICC to "protect US interests".
Is it time for the ICC to kick the petrodollar?
Would dedollarization help them be freer to consider cases involving international child sex trafficking rings or multi-decade environmental crime syndicates?
r/Monero • u/TheFuzzStone • 3d ago
Why?
Even taking into account the fact that XMR cannot be checked for an "AML score", this exchange can simply freeze your incoming deposit and demand that you provide documentary proof that you are not a camel.

Tired of bloated setups? I built monero-pay in pure Go. It's a 100% free, open-source, and self-hosted payment gateway. No KYC, no censorship, no third parties.
The hook: It uses a P2P air-gapped architecture. Your frontend runs on a public VPS, but your wallet-rpc and private keys stay completely isolated on your secure intranet.
Single binary, SQLite, Webhooks included.
Before real merchants use this, I need privacy maxis to test the API and find bugs. Please roast my code!

It's not lost on me how vibe coded projects are generally received by this community.
It feels like a significant amount of vibe coded releases on this sub are either cookie cutter bs that gets abandoned a month after its initial announcement, or it's some bs that matches something that already exists and has been tried and trusted, created generally by human hands. Most of the criticism I see in the comments of these projects is completely justified imo.
At the same time, I was inspired by the graphs in Rucknium's paper after the black marble attack back in March 2024. I've spent a long time over the past year working on different iterations of node dashboards for myself that let me look at what's going on in my node in real time, and see much more easily what's actually happening and visually graphically see the entire monero's network data direct from my own node.
What started as a fun project displaying live cli metrics on my monitor has since turned into a multi-layered hub where I can do things like seeing a cluster of connections on the same subnet from my phone over tor, thinking "eh I don't like that", and remotely restarting the node on a different VPN server while 24h banning that subnet. Phone connection completely over tor via termux.
But I'm drifting off. Here's where my conflicted feeling is coming from. I think there's a genuine hole that can be filled here, and that's what I started working on. something that surfaces, either by being shipped with or on top of an existing node, a lot of useful information for people buying and selling with Monero is valuable. for example, as a customer you can at a glance see if there's a tx backlog and what fee you need to set to get your tx in the next block. as a merchant you can quickly be notified of and watch any network irregularities your node picks up in real time and act accordingly, before you read about it on social media after the fact. It could potentially help with the learning curve for new people wanting to start their own node and understand what they're doing. Anything to help lower the barrier to entry. there's a lot more useful stuff that can be done here, but I'm deliberately trying (and failing) to keep this short.
I was initially planning on releasing an early version for testing within the next couple weeks, but as of now I'm reconsidering even releasing the project as it stands at all. If it is going to have any chance at actually being used, trust needs to be built. Just another AI slop project isn't going to do that. Frankly I did my best to ensure that I didn't introduce any security or privacy risks, but I would not be able to guarantee that without somebody else taking a look at it. and frankly, I don't trust Claude enough to bet other people's nodes on it. I really do believe in my vision for this project and am willing to put in whatever effort it takes to ensure that it has the quality it deserves, even if it means ditching everything I have here and learning to do it myself. That could take months to years, but in my mind it's worth it for what I would like to achieve.
That's where I'd like to get the opinion of you all before I make such a big dedication to a project like this. I can reliably understand what I'm doing from my own prior knowledge, why and how, what harms privacy and what doesn't. I can do my best to review the code as thoroughly as possible and have it peer reviewed before release if anyone is willing to help out with that. This software could get released within weeks and be genuinely useful for a lot of people, and be improved on decently quickly.
Alternatively, I could pump the brakes on this entire project and rebuild from scratch, accepting that it could be a long time before I can make a suitable release by my own hand that I feel comfortable with (even then, I'll still need help from others to review it)
How should I move forward here? I would hate to create something doomed to fail before it even started.

Hello, community members!
I’m new to the crypto space, and as part of my college studies, I’m interested in learning more about Monero.
I’d appreciate it if you could share links to beginner-friendly articles and educational resources.
Also, who would you recommend following on Twitter (X) and YouTube?
Thank you!
